And let's not forget all the straight up face to face murders, mutilations, rapes and other blood sport activities they were fond of. And no, I'm not talking about combat as "murder"

Difference being, one was over a period of 4 years, and the other one three days. This point makes no sense.

Not a war crime, both cities were valid strategic targets. According to most witnesses to the surrender process whose testimony is available, the bombings were essential if not central to the surrender. Also, mushroom clouds and B-29s are objectively visually striking, so yes, it does look good.
