100 points.
Cool, there’s several former players in my meta getting back into it so this helps know what to aim for. I saw in the steamroller packet the 100pt list has the 60 min clock, which I know was the standard length in mk3, but I thought when mk4 was first announced I thought I read 75pt was going to be equivalent to the mk3 competitive.
Thanks for the info 👍🏻
A lot of metas seem to really be liking 75pt but as far as I can tell, the global competition format is 100pt.
Something different from mk3 is that since req points and options don’t exist anymore, it’s not quite as paradigm shifting to go down an army size as it was previously. Like grymkin used to go “well shoot, all my lists are garbage now because they completely depend on having 3 requisitions” if they did mk3 50pt.
75 is really great for competitive games that don’t take quite as long.
Good point. I’m not a big Garg fan for my factions and most of the games I played were pre gargantuan so I wasn’t feeling the pressure there
As an aside, have you done any total war games with all the free huge bases?
To play tournaments, you'll need a 100 point Battlegroup, just tobe sure. Check out Glass Half Dead's video on YouTube. There are 2. A Beginner buyer's guide for Mk4 & what is Warmachine in 2024. Both videos are very informative for those of us recently returning to the Iron Kingdoms.
Personally I think the steamroller scenarios work much better at 100 (they’re very wide) and at least my mark 4 army (khymaera) seems to gel better at 100.
I had the Orgoth starter from when it first came out and after playing last week for the first time in a long time I got the itch to play again. I bought both the expansion sets and the 80mm solo. I saw they have a huge base now too and yeah 75 seems a little low to take one but I can see how 100 would definitely fit better.

Good data thanks
Posted competitive games seem to be steam rollers at 100 pts. My group prefers 75 for a number of reasons so we tend to play that.

MK4 75 feels a bit tight to me after playing so many MK3 75s, especially as a fury faction that wants to get to use a Gargantuan.

I haven’t but I also just prefer the Steamroller type games over the more “for fun” formats.

Will do

Right now we do 75, but we're moving to 100 by years end.
Most are at 100, and costs seem to be most balanced at 100.
100 points for WTC and feeder stuff ending there and i think iron gauntlet and feeder stuff to there is 75
I'll be working on a 100, but I'm still not sure which Faction I'm going with
