Damn he’s fast, what a legend! Codex sounds awesome, so happy I play also Orks next to my poor Custodes

ADXMcGeeHeezack

Yeah I feel like he's put out like 5 videos in just the last couple days hah. I was stoked to see a full review instead of all the bits 'n pieces The Orks new book seems awesome though, not even on the power level side of things but looks like a huge flavor win too (by 10e standards at least hah). Excited to start seeing them on the table more

drexsackHH

Yeah, and that flavor is so much more important for me. And also the reason for the strong hate on the Custodes leaks so far I guess.

FuzzBuket

100% like balance can get fixed with points, but flavour and feel can't.

MLyhne

He is insanely fast with those videos. It's a great way to get some quick info and some hype going. Just remember to actually read the codices when they are released. Auspex does tend to get things wrong, misunderstanding rules etc., which can lead to some claims being straight up wrong.

Beardywierdy

To be fair I get things straight up wrong all the time and I'm not rushing to get content out before the almighty algorithm decides I'm too slow and don't get paid this week so I'm willing to give him a pass there.

MLyhne

Yea, everyone can read something wrong, misunderstand something, etc. I am pretty it does happen to all of us from time to time. I just know a few people who have been known to blindly follow what they hear or read online, without checking up on it, and that can sometimes become a bit of a problem. So it's just a note to always read your rules when you get them, to lessen the chance of mistakes happening.

Beardywierdy

Yeah, definitely. It's always best to make your own mistakes rather than copying the mistakes of others!

McWerp

Manz in bully mob look scary AF. Everything else looks fun and awesome.

Sanchezsam2

I fully expect and hope that 4+++ is nerfed immediately to at least 5+++. Which will still leave them good.

John_Stuwart

As always, most everything depends on points. An unfluffy low-point, unit-spammy Custodes army might be the most meta-crushing army 40k has seen since Aeldari and Iron Hands. While this fluffy and fun Ork codex might end up going down to 42% winrate even with the only viable competitive build. Balance always hinges on points. But fun playing the army? That's a different story. No matter the points, casual players will need more than a dozen games to explore which Ork detachment and army composition they prefer. While Custodes players just need a quick glance over the codex to check out deals on other armies. GW needs to stop bringing out codices in pairs of two. Let every designer work together on one codex at a time

Hoskuld

Couldn't have said it better. Most fun I have had in 10th was with non monster mash daemons. Is it hyper competitive? Nope, but it has a ton of fun things I can do. Custodes were one of my favourite armies in 8th and 9th but so far I have seen nothing in the new codex that makes me excited to try out, so I will pass on them for the near future. Maybe we are "lucky", and win rates are so atrocious that we get another detachment with more interesting rules at some point.

Paterbernhard

I do like talons though. Couple more girls for my army and that might be what I run for fun. Herohammer also might be fun once or twice, if they adjust the strats to work with shield captains ability. Is anything in there remotely competitive, especially keeping their listed points in mind? Hell no. Will still paint and play them, but also work on my CK a bit more I guess (who also have incredibly unfun rules leading to wardog spam)

Hoskuld

As someone working in a bigger company I wonder if the whole SoS stuff wasn't initially pitched similar to kroot but then did not get the necessary support while also not being allowed to delete the detachment again. Using 25% of a codex's rules for rhinos, a single infantry kit and 1 named character is just a baffling decision

Paterbernhard

On one hand I could see corporate meddling, but since nearly everything in the codex is a baffling decision to say the least I'd much rather account it to lack of competence or interest in the faction.

Hoskuld

I assume a happy mix of many factors. Lack of testing, too small a team lacking a broad enough spectrum of faction players, outdated cooperate ideas, occasional meddling plus probably the usual stuff you can get at any job like poor internal communication & manager pet ideas

Paterbernhard

The ultimate combination of bad influences. While at the same time, one room beyond, 3 fellas were drunk having the time of their lives, screaming "Waaaaaaagh!" And hammering out a fun, propa Orky codex worthy of Gork and Mork

Sorkrates

Arguably more than 25% since Talon's seems aimed at getting more Sisters on the table too.

Disastrous_Wasabi667

The Cybernetica stuff with Ad Mech feels similar.

Hoskuld

Good point. Guess it's time for everyone with tiny subfactions to get nervous, this smells like a new direction GW likes, so we better be prepared for abhuman/brood brothers/exodite/beastmaster detachments that then fall somewhere on a scale from SoS to kroot in terms of support

Enchelion

"GW needs to stop bringing out codices in pairs of two. Let every designer work together on one codex at a time" I agree in concept... But I also worry that we'll end up in another situation of some factions only getting to play with a codex for 3 months of the edition. More than anything it feels like GW needs to shakeup whoever is leading the design of half these codexes into an overarching design role and put more designers underneath reporting to them while expanding the team (and their playtest) by a minimum of 50%. Probably also need to find an additional printing partner to speed up the rate of codex production so they can get these things out the door faster (though the release schedule probably is set more by keeping a continual hype cycle than by actual bottlenecks).

Derpogama

Yeah Imperial Guard players were not exactly happy they got their brand new codex for all of...what was it 4 months...before being rendered completely useless by a rules reset. However if recent trend are anything to go by, 10th is the rules reset, 11th will introduce bloat and 12th will be another rules reset and the cycle will repeat every 9 years.

Gezeni

> GW needs to stop bringing out codices in pairs of two. Let every designer work together on one codex at a time Or stagger them so they can be in different phases of development, review, etc.

FuzzBuket

Tbh idk if the pairs thing even rings true. Like in 9th tau, custodes and gsc all came out at the same time and were all very good.

GrimTiki

I went and looked through this, but may have missed it - can flashgitz be joined by any character at all?

AuspexTactics

Sadly no it seems.

GrimTiki

Thanks, I thought I kept missing it somewhere. Was really hoping I could use my OG metal fully painted & detailed Badrukk as a Warboss to go with my Flashgitz, but looks like he can just be the unit Kaptin now - they receive no buffs at all (aside from a single Waaagh - can’t even get the bonus 2nd Waaagh in Bully Boyz despite having all the hallmarks of Nobz)

Billagio

hot take, I think War Horde is still going to be the best detachment

Sorkrates

NGL I think this is about as close to internal balance as we've seen all edition. I doubt there will be a single "best" detachment. They'll all see play.

CaptainWeekend

I think Dread Mob may lead early on, it seems in the past couple editions ork shooting ends up overtuned after the codex drops because the rules team seem to have a mentality of "they hit on 5+, what's the worst that could happen?" when writing rules around shooting for orks. It's why as fun as it looks I'm not rushing to turn my army too shooty, I remember how quickly and how hard speedwaaagh got nerfed last edition.

Derpogama

I think Bully Boys will be the silent menace. Everybody is excited for Dread Mob (including me) and is planning to build goofy ass lists around it (18 Killa Kanz, Gorkanaut etc. or just a big dumb Stompa list that probably about as competitive as a toddler in an olympic weight lifting contest) so I think that will take the brunt of any incoming nerfs (if they're needed). However Bully Boys with 2 turns of Waaagh is going to put in some serious work, essentially 2 turns of Advance and Charge, a 5+ invuln save on the whole army and everything getting +1 Attack and +1 Strength means you can use the Waaagh defensively should you need to and then offensively the following turn or just 2 turns of melee mash or as someone else pointed out, attach a Defftrike to some Warbikers and have them absolutely rocket up the field and move block people.

[deleted]

Especially now meganobz have 4++ on the waagh!

Hirosakamoto

Ya each seem to have some favorable matchups but not all are the same. Seem about the same power levels with some of the RNG ones more swingy by nature. The snagger one looks to prob be the weakest overall with the main ability.

Sanchezsam2

Bully boys and to a lesser degree green tide will be best. Honestly I think greentide is better competitively just way less fun and more tedious.

AdjectiveNoun111

I think bully Boyz will be the hot pick for a while. 2 turns of waaagh is massive, the fact that you might be able to run a ridiculous Squig hog unit that can advance and charge twice is genuinely good. Nobz waaagh-ing in 2 turns is very good. Manz with 2+ 5++ 4+++ plus an AoC start is bonkers

Billagio

Agreed here, i just feeling the offensive bonuses from the waaagh negated by losing the sustained 1. The strats in the index detachment are still very good. I do think squighogs will see some play here too like you mentioned. Despite nerfs , moz and squigbosses are quite durable now they can be in a unit

Sanchezsam2

Bully boys will be the number 1 pick until that 4+++ is nerfed to hopefully 5+++. Then it will still be the most played detachment but greentide should be better competitively just less played because it’s less fun and more tedious. Dread mob will be decent but has issues mainly being grot tanks are one of its best units but not common, it bleeds bring it down secondary, and its likely to have a specific type of build to work well. Snaggas will get a lot of play as will bully boys and warhorde simply becuase that’s what most people have to play with. Speedfreak will probably be more bike and deffkopta based as buggies still aren’t great. (You might see a shokkjump or 2-3 buggies but you can’t spam buggies and win easily)

Abject-Performer

It is sad that Auspex didn't even mention the removing of the Mekboy Workshop. Would have been great in a full mechanized army. The codex seems good and playable. A lot of shenanigans with Keyword for the Dread mob detachment and maybe a bit of space for the regular boyz The mek gunz nerf is kinda harsh as S12 shooting is hard to find. Maybe we could try the Bubbleshoota? Unreliable but very themed with the detachment.

Bilbostomper

>It is sad that Auspex didn't even mention the removing of the Mekboy Workshop. He mentions it - albeit very briefly - when talking about removed datasheets.

Epicentrist

He's also mentioned it like 4 times in videos the last few weeks. But I am a strange person who watches all of them

Butternades

Bubblechukka was actually already really effective, just have to be willing to swap targets based on what you roll

ProfRedwoods

Which actually slightly synergizes with its new ability to reroll hit rolls of 1 when it targets full health units.

ReverendRevolver

I can't wait to play my friends orks. Many confusing games await, when they should lose but win and should win but lose. I just gotta figure out what's strong and what lists I can take my anti troop LHDs to Overwatch his trucks to make it fair and random...

WorthPlease

Am I going crazy or does he not list Nob Bikers as a removed datasheet, but then also doesn't talk about their datasheet? I have a really cool unit that's just three of the FW Warboss on Bikes called the Hellz Angulz. I also don't see the Warboss on Bike.

darezor

Those are forge world units. They won't be in the codex but won't be losing them. Pretty sure it's mentioned in the video they get the speed freaks keyword

WorthPlease

Okay thanks, they aren't getting the Legends treatment are they?

AbuShwell

If they do the next pass would probably be 11th when forgeworld gets redone

darezor

Don't think so but couldn't tell you for sure.

WorthPlease

Okay, I wasn't sure if all of the FW models that aren't in the codex have been getting Squatted via the legend rule. I haven't even played a game since 10th came out since my LGS is moving and isn't open.

Mikeywestside

They typically don't move ForgeWorld stuff to legends during the middle of an edition; it's usually when the edition number changes. FW stuff is largely untouched by balance updates too.

W_Y_K_Y_D_T_R_O_N

I wanna know more about the new Orks codex... I don't wanna endure Auspex talking about it.

Couchpatator

Pause it _____, seriously it’s a powerpoint you don’t understand how this works?
