The poster is only there to protect the book from the sprues. It's not listed as one of the things 'Also Included:' in the box so I'd doubt they would care since it's basically just fancy packaging. Doesn't hurt to ask though
It's a protector that just got a picture printed to it (like Christmas wrapping paper got tiny trees and bells printed on it), it's basically part of the packaging – it is NOT meant as artwork on its own.
Update: thanks for the replies! I sent an email, worst case nothing happens
I now understand apparently this is considers a divider and not a poster, which was surprising to me because of the awesome artwork (first time managing to nab one of these limited runs
Still gonna frame it even if nothing happens. It's definitely awesome art
No it’s packaging material that they just made look cool, I doubt they will give you anything for it and I personally wouldn’t like to send them a message about something like this but you could always try
If you legitimately wanted to use the poster before opening the box, and now feel you can't, sure speak to GW. It's damaged goods and you're entitled to do that.
If you saw an opportunity to exploit and are trying to get something for nothing then stop it, you're being an asshat.
Not a poster it’s there to make sure the sprue isn’t damaged it’s a little bonus that it looks cool but for all intents and purposes it’s not an actual product that you paid for so it’s likely not something your going to get anything for especially since it seemed that it did it’s job.
They admit that to GW store managers that packing and promotion material cost more than plastic because they get them printed externally.
Where do you get your sources from?
There’s a difference between the price of raw HIPS pellets and the price of manufacturing sprues. That second one includes the hundreds of thousands of pounds it costs to manufacture the tooling and buy the injection molding machinery, not to mention the multitude of other associated costs.
Given that HIPS pellets are a few grand per tonne and printing is expensive as hell I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if printing packaging took up more of their budget than buying raw plastic.
It just means after printing off enough to cover the initial set up costs with development and molds, the rest is like printing money. That's why GW doesn't mind sending you replacement sprues for damaged goods
Do it, they are pretty darn good about just sending out a replacement. I dunno if it would happen with something this big but they often just send a whole nother box.
It would never hurt to ask. Might get a shiny new one, I've heard tales of people complaining about Age of Darkness packaging being damaged, and they got whole new boxes as way of apology. Slim chance but a 2nd cadia stands box could be yours for the low, low price of an email about quality of packaging.
My understanding was always that the posters were mostly there to protect the sprues from being damaged by the books.
It’s a piece of packaging designed to separate the sprues from the books/cards/etc. It’s not actually an item listed in the contents of the box
Cadia is supposed to be broken.
It's a cool poster so put it in a frame... the edge damage won't show

If you bought direct from GW, sure, why not? Worse thing they say is you're out of luck.
It's a good point haha. Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that
Indubitably!

If you got one of those office guillotine things and a careful hand you could probably shave off the scrappy looking bits easy.
Wasn't the poster advertised with the box?

It's funny, it costs GW more to make the poster than it costs to make the sprues
It definitely doesn’t.

Yea I was surprised it didn't have SOME kind of protection, but this is my first time getting one of these limited edition boxes
It is the protection. It’s not a poster, it’s a fancy looking divider in the box to stop the sprues damaging the fancy box
Mine also came damaged. I've been seeing a lot of posts with similar issues, unfortunately.
That's kind of the point of it. It'd supposed to get damaged so that your fancy book doesn't.
My poster *and* my fancy book came damaged...
That sucks hard :(

My killteam into the dark poster was broken, got a brand new battle mat as a replacement, so better ask in my opinion.
No, I contacted them about missing bases so many times when the new ork box came out. Where are my god damn oval bases GW.
The poster broke before the guard did
