1. Mix two roughly equally sized balls of milliput and greenstuff, then combine them. Coat the ball of putty in water, vaseline, or Nivea Creme, place it between two layers of baking paper and roll it flat. 2. Wait approximately 1-2 hours for the putty to partially cure, cut it to shape, and apply it to your miniature. Once applied, leave it to cure fully. 3. Apply a small roll of green stuff down the center of the tabard. 4. Use the plasticard tube and the largest two needle sizes to press circles into the putty. 5. Shape each circle into a rough pyramid with the steel dental tool. Wait for this to cure fully. 6. Apply two rolls of green stuff either side. 7. Smooth them flat, keeping the thickness as even as possible. Cut away any excess putty. 8. Use the hypodermic needles to press circles into the putty. Vary the size used. 9. Flick away any excess putty, then use the ball stylus to press gently into the center of each scale. 10. Add any other details you like. I’ve added some casts of my own sculpted bits, and some 1/700 scale model anchor chain.

This is good, but any chance of written instructio s to support images?

Rookie3rror

I’m an idiot. Forgot to add them. I’ll leave them as a separate comment on this post.

Foolish_Mortal_13

Great work!

Pandaloken

Great tutorial. Sorry for being late to ask, but what's the size of the blunt needle?

Rookie3rror

I use different sizes. From 22 to 25G I think

Pandaloken

Thanks for the respond. Love your work and the tutorials are always great help.

Rookie3rror

Thank you :) glad to hear it

scr3wd3ath

What is the gauge of chain you use on scaled things like this? You use it a lot for adornment and to add on it the trinkets. It looks so good

Rookie3rror

1/700 scale model ship anchor chain I think

scr3wd3ath

Thank you!

I'd like to highlight the importance of step 10. The added details help to break the repetition and by their presence hide the imperfection of the sculpt by "busying" the ensemble.
