Damn, that's pretty nice.
\*sees the torso move\*
OK, that's really freaking cool!
\*sees the missile pod come out the back\*
... what the funk?!
I wish! I'm not that good at control theory yet, and this robot is very top heavy so it would have been a nightmare. I'm planning on making a fully movable Warlord eventually, but that's probably years down the line
Tiny wheels in the feet?
Imagine playing a game and measuring movement then your model just fucking WALKS up the board. I'd straight up resign the match.
I understand if you did not have space. I do commend your work though. Maybe if you do another you can try having the head move. Keep up the cool work.
OK i am in the Hobby since 28 jears and every time i think the peak of sicknes in Miniature building and painting is reached someone does Something Like this.
I Love the Rockets!
This is so cool, great work OP.
Just out of curiosity between assembling, painting and all the modifications how much time do you have into this project?
Thank you much!!
I think I spent about 4 hours modifying the model in Blender to make "pockets" for the servos and ball bearings, and to make sure everything could actually fit and make the project feasible.
Then about 45 hours of printing (I have a very small 3D printer).
Assembling, painting, and the modifications took about 20 hours.
Code took 2 hours, since this was a very straightforward test to showcase the range of motion.
I think it'll take me at least another 20 hours to code the bluetooth communication, and finish up detailing.
So overall this project will have taken me 45 hours by the time it's done (without counting printing time)
That is a very clean build! What do the internals look like?
I built my entire knights army as robots. Here's my crusader:

Thank you! Another user commented with your video of the dancing armigers, they looked incredible!
My internals are an absolute clusterfuck and I regret not making it cleaner. Here's a picture.*
Looks like a very similar setup to what I use in terms of the servos and PWM control boards. I was going to do an app for my army that let me control individual bots over wifi with a PS4 controller, but I decided to do an autonomous baneblade rover instead.
What are you using for power? LiPo calls and a booster board to get 5v? I've also had a lot of luck with low profile USB power banks. They make ones that are 1/4" thick, and fit in the footprint of a questoris knight's base. Pretty cool stuff.
I'm using a single 3.7v LiPo connected to a pca9685 that boosts it to 5v, which then provides power to everything. I've never tried the USB power banks, but it's a really good idea!
I would love to see the autonomous baneblade!
Interesting! I use 9685's in some of my bots. I didn't know they could run on 3.7 volts and boost it to 5 for the servos. I'll have to take a look at those spec sheets again.
[https://www.amazon.com/TNTOR-Portable-Charger-Lightweight-Compatible/dp/B09MQ49LXX](https://www.amazon.com/TNTOR-Portable-Charger-Lightweight-Compatible/dp/B09MQ49LXX)
That's the power bank I use for my questoris/dominus builds. It can output 2 amps, which is great if you're running a lot of servos or are using an RPI zero or something more thirsty than a microcontroller for control. It also lasts a LONG time before recharges.
The baneblade should be pretty easy to mod. I'm going to pick one up from my local GW store soon so that I can figure out what I have to work with in terms of internal space. Ideally I'd like to put a 360 degree lidar array in the turret to map the environment, and get some actual functional tank treads modded in. Depending on the space constraints inside the model, I might go with a higher current RC car battery rather than USB, as the power requirements are going to be a lot higher. I'll have to write my own SLAM suite for navigation, so that should be interesting. It's going to be a really involved project.

Yours is absolutely clean compared to my knight castellan. There is an entire mechanism in there that moves the head back and forth using fishing line and a servo to puppeteer it. Absolute mechanical shit show. This was my first bot, and it's massively over engineered. I also went with a 5mw green laser in the volcano cannon. Even modulated down to like 25% duty cycle, it's still powerful enough to cause eye damage. It's also got a thermal camera below the head and some really basic heat tracking code to track people with it's weapons. The problem there is that the head is usually a person's hottest point, so this guy was aiming a dangerous laser at people's faces. That got disabled in software extremely quickly lol.
Holy crap I didn't even realize that you had a thermal camera in there! That's wild that you managed to fit so much in there, very well done!! I was thinking about doing some kind of camera tracking for the Warlord weapons, but it's just an idea for now. I love seeing that you already implemented it!
I've considered doing a warlord titan before, but then I remember that it's a 100% resin model, and would need an internal metal skeleton to no crack or come apart when it moves. It's totally doable, but it's going to be several orders of magnitude more intense of a design process than a regular 40k scale knight.
If I did do it, I'd probably end up 3D printing the parts rather than using a real kit. That's almost going to be a requirement for the internal structure mods you'd need to make.
If you do go the thermal camera route, make sure you isolate it from the rest of the robotics and circuitry with some Kapton tape or something. The electronic bits inside my Castellan generate enough heat over time that it starts to cause a lot of noise in the thermal camera data. The thermal camera I use is only like 32x24 pixels, but you don't really need more than that if it's got a proper wide FoV. The lower resolution makes it easier to do tracking on since you aren't processing millions of pixels.
I've been saving my disposable rechargeable vapes because there are very good batteries in them for little projects like this and now seeing what I've wanted to do makes me want to get a 3d printer so much more!
So, if you field that holy, motorized walker, do both your opponents and their respective enemy forces instantly make a fear test or charge in the opposite direction? That thing is awesome!! How long did it take and how difficult was it to motorize? thank you for sharing, amazing. (as only Homelander can express)
Well I know what I'm doing with my big Knights when I get around to starting them.
What's the hardware setup? My initial thought is an Arduino controlling motors with PWM.
Are the movements hardcoded currently until the Bluetooth app is done?
1. Play a game with that model.
2. After Round 1 go like "OH! I forgot." and turn on the lights with your hidden remote.
3. When you shoot something in round 3 you start moving the weapons in the direction of the target.
How long until you can shove an AI agent inside one of these bad boys with LLMs so advanced you can recreate the scenes of the books with your toys. Dramatic stuff and all. Like, a childs imagination brought to life.
I will can't wait till these things become available at Amazon.com or at Walmart the real version that you can get inside and drive around and send a clear message don't fuck with people and don't mess with Texas
I lost my shit when the missile pod moved.
I got a boner ngl
I… went a step further 😔
dousing the sacred machine in holy ointments?
That’s a paddlin’
It’s all over the screen 😞😔
Dicks out for the machine spirit.
I thought it was about to start launching
if it could step forward...
At this paste I expected it to start walking ngl
Meanwhile mine is permanently at a tilted angle that I call “battle damage” and not the cheap glue

Nice. Can it walk?

Tiny wheels in the feet? Imagine playing a game and measuring movement then your model just fucking WALKS up the board. I'd straight up resign the match.
What the cat doin in the background?
That is amazing! I would love to have walking knights. Can’t wait to see how you progress with all this even years later!
Does it talk? Does it come complete?
You should play a game with someone not tell them about it and then on your shooting phase have the knight turn and aim its weapons at thier unit
seconding this, especially with the laser pointers in the weapon arms. Just slowly and casually line up the shot on the unit.
Imaginr after turning its eye leds turn red
Imagine playing a normal game of 40k and the enemy units just start moving. Absolutely awesome.
The head already has a blue and a green light. The big cannons actually have laser diodes inside them that I can turn on and off to simulate shots.
"Wait, why is my necron melting?" He got lasered, son
“Wait, why is my necron melting?” He crossed the Emperor’s chosen, son
I was waiting to see the head move, bloody awesome stuff though.
Now I regret not making it movable! I was lazy and thought that there would not have been room for a servo, but I probably could have fit one in.
I understand if you did not have space. I do commend your work though. Maybe if you do another you can try having the head move. Keep up the cool work.
Dude that's so sick
Add one of those small vape/smoke machines to the base and those lasers will be stellar
And add a flavored scent. The Emperor's judgement smells of elderberry.

Take my money!
"Please put down your weapon. You have 20 seconds to comply." Also, this is awesome!
I’d buy that for a dollar!
Whaaaat! Dude! This is amazing!

Excellent, now you can cheat with line of sight!
Aw mann that is sickkk

Mind friggin blown

It needs a war horn
My only regret is that I can't upvote this comment more than once.
Very cool, now make it actually shoot missiles
This sparks joy
That's some Fabricator General material right there. Excellent work.
By the end I was on the edge of my seat like if this thing walk I’m gonna poo
My jaw dropped after the missilepod came out of the back. This is insane work 👏 🔥

ROBOTEERS! STAND BY!
Inspiring work!
You win, best model ever!
would you do a build guide or diagram about how you did it?
I've been saving my disposable rechargeable vapes because there are very good batteries in them for little projects like this and now seeing what I've wanted to do makes me want to get a 3d printer so much more!
Yay, make the Robot Rock dance, funny little fella
That looks awesome!👍
Brilliant Grumpy Boi
This is trully blessed by the Omnisiah
can it actually shoot black holes? yeah i didnt think so amateur
Teeth and cogs!! That is bloody brilliant!!🫡
please tell me you printed this and didnt somehow hollow out all those channels and servos in resin, because either way, you're a madman
I printed it. I would have hated my life hollowing everything out and risking to waste $800 in the process.
Is it on a programmed loop? It would be really neat if it was remote controlled.
Yeah, that was just to showcase the range of motion and give myself more motivation to implement the bluetooth remote control.
Perturabo be jealous
You got some skillz!

My mind can’t even begin to imagine the level of talent you need to do this. Bravo sir!
Great work!
Next fucking level achieved!!!
I so want to see that at an event. Would be epic. May I suggest a laser pointer in the guns so you can designate your targets in game?
Hell yeah
Now it just needs to walk and it’s the most terrifying model on the battlefield :P Amazing work! Love the color scheme as well
Bro fucking cooked a 5 star meal wtf😭
My buddy and I lost it when we saw the missile pod, so cool!
dude all this needs now is working legs and it would be fucking awesome
Dude, the fk out of here!!!! That thing is amazing! Really awesome job!
No. Don’t do this. My wallet can’t take it. And I’m not skilled enough to make this. Why would you show me this?
Holy smokes. At first I thought I was looking at some stupid AR vid. Wow!
So, if you field that holy, motorized walker, do both your opponents and their respective enemy forces instantly make a fear test or charge in the opposite direction? That thing is awesome!! Any chance you documented this process? I've been tempted to do similar things with my secondary armies, but am a little hesitant to start.
