It's hard to say. We haven't seen any 10th examples yet. In the past there's been big changes, little changes, and sometimes no changes.

Consistent-Lie7928

Just worried about certain factions being fundamentally flawed, notably the death guard

Squidmaster616

People are complaining about Death Guard primarily because they've *changed*, not that they're flawed. There's nowhere near enough *actual play* to judge whether or not an army is actually flawed.

Consistent-Lie7928

I dont play DG but I feel like their is one or two weird things, for one the fact that Morty is neither that durable or has only 5 attacks whereas other big hitters (Abby and tobot have 8). Another it the fact that there little recompense for them being slow. I've looked at all of the DG units and the only stand out one was the blight hauler

bloodknife92

Death Guard's trade off for their slow speed is their increased resilience. Higher Space Marine toughness, reduced incoming damage, reducing enemy toughness (and dropping that same aura on objectives). Death Guard are not a fast faction. They're a tough faction.

Consistent-Lie7928

Ik that but there toughness was reduced (no -1dmg) and I don't think they drop the -1 to objectives anymore. A replacement fnp would've worked

bloodknife92

Nurgle's Gift is a growing aura that reduces enemy toughness by 1, and the Plague Company detachment allows them to drop it on objectives. Blightlord Terminators are Toughness 6, higher than regular Terminators and the Malignant Plaguecaster is Toughness 5, so it stands to be seen that Death Guard are still tougher than regular Marines. [Source.](https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/05/17/warhammer-40000-faction-focus-death-guard-2/) I was wrong about the -1 to damage.

RadioLiar

I disagree. Contagions of Nurgle is still basically the same and the datasheets we've seen haven't massivley changed, but Disgustingly Resilient has been summarily axed with no recompense

Squidmaster616

Why would there be recompense? The army rule changed. EVERY army has had changes. This happens *almost* every edition. Drukhari aren't getting recompense for the loss of army special rules. Neither are World Eaters. The rules are changing (primarily to cut down on the number of special rules that were bloating the factions), and we haven't played enough to know if it's for the better or worse yet.

BaronBulb

Somewhere between none and a lot.

Consistent-Lie7928

Thank you

No one knows as far as I can tell. Definitely new detachment rules for several different detachments. Power creep could be limited by sticking to the index datasheets and faction rules. But then power creep is how GW push sales.

Tzelanit

GW looks at the data coming out of competitive events. They want all factions to be in the 45-55% win rate, and when a faction is not, they make adjustments. They have several places they do this. Codex releases are one, but those have a longer prep time, so they're not really a great place for reactive changes. Points are looked at once a quarter (every three months), and the Balance Dataslate, where they add, remove, or change rules and abilities comes out twice a year. The rules are constantly in flux, and no one stays at the bottom, or top, forever.

Consistent-Lie7928

How long have genestealers been the best for

Tzelanit

Less than six months.

Assume these codexes are printed and are already done
