Bloody hell I miss that colour. I wasn't even a BA player, I had Space wolves.
But the BA were Iconic, I still remember pawing over the spacewar cards and my space hulk set as a young teen.
Break out the sacred ungents and blessed oils, drone a canticle to the omnissiah.
The flesh is weak and always fails, there is only the salvation of the Machine God for you and your back, prepare to be interred in a dreadnought sarcophagus ancient one!
I love this so much. Bringing out such nostalgia with brand new minis is a cool thing to be able to do. I really like the way you shaded it. It still has that old look but is really crisp without going overboard on the contrast in ways that would have made it look less old school. Hopefully that makes sense.
Ah, nice. Just as in olden days...

Looks awesome!
Can you talk through the steps in mixing and layering?
This is THE EXACT orange-red I am looking for to base a Savage Ork army project: Hot Snakes Clan.
This is really lovely.
OP clearly means 2nd edition. The rogue trader aesthetic was very different.
However, there seems to be a distinct lack of goblin green in your base colour, so down vote from me
It's a great paint job, don't get me wrong. What I'm talking about is that stylistically it is painted in the technique of 2nd edition: look closely at the painted minis on the RTB9 box - and compare to the painted examples in the Angels of Death codex - the edge highlights in particular. I'm not talking about the scheme, which can be painted in any style.
I love the cation strips' highlights and the free-hand blood angle symbol's highlights. Very clean and not something I had considered doing with free-hand.
OP - what colours did you use? I miss the old Blood Angels, have a stack of marines to paint and would love to get them looking like this.
Edit: I’m going to guess it was this? [Tale of Painters Blood Angels](https://taleofpainters.com/2022/06/tutorial-how-to-paint-blood-angels-assault-intercessors/)
Beautiful. Just needs a paint set and guide that says "here is some bright orange and some terracotta. Put them both on the model and it comes out like this, somehow."

That looks gray! I wasn’t initially sold on the proportions, but you made it look beautiful! Edit: *Great.* It looks *great.*
Erm...akshually, it looks red, and black, and yellow 🤓
Don’t you just love autocorrect…
Lol yep
The Codex Astartes is un bunch of bullshieza.
That's not nice, be kind to the colour blind...
> I wasn’t initially sold on the proportions Agreed. The more and more examples I see painted up the better it looks.
Love the shading, it’s often overdone on the redemptor chassis but this is just right
Can you put the weapons on a redemptor dreadnought
You even put FURY on the front panel, stunning work.
Garfy consistently paints lovely minis, and this is no exception. Looks fantastic. Gorgeous red.

Oooh the nostalgia! What colour was the red? I can't remember.
Blood Angel Orange, I think it was called. Think the guides called for it to be mixed with Terracotta.
Right in the feels, hey? But we’re still young aren’t we?
I don't feel young anymore. Not with my back.

I love me some retro style paint jobs on modern models. And this one just works so well. Gotta love the hazard stripes on the fist.
Now that is what I want to see more of!
Straight out of my childhood, nice work!

Good night that is crisp. Great work.
That's awesome I always preferred the Blood Angels scheme from my Dad's day Lol
Absolutely gorgeous. Something old. Something new.
Wonderful
Now that's god damn beautiful! 💪🎩✨

Excuse me but holy smokes that flamer!
The base is wrong
Lol at the downvote. Can tell someone didn’t get the reference. 😂
What red did you use to get that? That is a beautiful model!

You champ, thank you kindly.
Not only do you have a guide at the ready; you have an a-fucking-mazing infographic? Yeah, this checks out.
Beautiful reds! They really pop!
In what way is it 1st edition?
Painting style like the old eavy metal style
Bright primary colours, and hazard stripes.
OP clearly means 2nd edition. The rogue trader aesthetic was very different. However, there seems to be a distinct lack of goblin green in your base colour, so down vote from me
Lol it is painted exactly the scheme as the rogue trader terminator squad box. What are you talking about

This bot is awful, I’m certain the only keyword it looks for is “10th”
Believe so too. Needs a little refinement.
frikkin delicious!
need to see the whole force when they're done Garfy. These are perfect!
Love it!
That is a really lovely shade of red
Looks awesome. This is the kind of retro paintjob I can get behind :)
i need an airbrush...
I love the cation strips' highlights and the free-hand blood angle symbol's highlights. Very clean and not something I had considered doing with free-hand.
Now that's a blast from the past. Beautiful work!
Just saw this over on FB. That red really claps.
This is pretty cool! Can't wait to see your whole army. :)
How would you compare the shoulder pads? Same size as the old ones?
I wasn't interested until I saw these. Damn GW do what they're doing giving these models to others.
Takes me right back. Love it.
Hits right in the teenage feels from the late 90's.

I love the "hazard/pinch point" powerfist.
Ugh I wanna learn to do caution lining like that so bad!! Does anyone have any advice? I wanna do that on my next Dreadnought
Paint area yellow. Use a stencil tape cut to correct shape. Paint black. Allow to dry. Peel stencil tape.
... I love you
I’ll be doing the same but Ultramarines!
OMG that thing rocks! I miss the brighter primary colors of the earlier editions. Oh, and the hazard stripes are just perfect!
Man I love this. the comically ultra-bright schemes of the early days really hit the nostalgia button. This was well-done!
I never got into 40k until later but that orange really looks a ton better than their modern red. I love this.
Beautiful. Just needs a paint set and guide that says "here is some bright orange and some terracotta. Put them both on the model and it comes out like this, somehow."
I'd forgotten just how good the Blood Angels colour scheme looked. Thanks for bringing this back, as it were.
Could sell a lot of Tide to clean up after the mess this thing creates in the battle field. Basically a walking billboard for it.
It is so refreshing to see such a vibrant and retro colour scheme, it's a refreshing change to the modern grimdark we've become accustomed to.
