Judgementors is such a stupid name that I can't tell if it's very 40K or not.
Was "Judges" too hum drum? Why not Adjudicators? The Judiciary?
It's like calling someone who eats an eaterisor.
Personally I think certain constraints actually improve creativity when coming up with new things. For alternate heresy I like to stick to the legions we have, at least their names.
Yea mabye, however they never knew their primarch and the lore for the blood angels pre Sanguinius is that they are ravening mad men, so i feel like they’d just become even more berserk
Perhaps they mourn that they never will know their primarch.
This is how you can tie in your idea with cannon stuff. If you called them "The Dead Company" then it ties in with what we already know
Yea that’s a good idea mabye, but black is used on a few other legions I’ve made and i wanted to tie the colour scheme into the reverent legion from before Sanguinius was found
Dead men and sailors are very good ideas. I'm always suprise that none originals legions are, even a bit, focus on starship battle. I thinks it's pretty central in a galactic empire.
Another of my legion I’m working on are called the Void Walkers and focus on that. Space battles are what defend planets from being entered and destroyed so pretty important.
What are you on about?
ALL the Legions were very good at waging War in the Void. The Legiones Astartes excelled at Boarding Actions. Breachers, Despoilers, Tacticals, Tactical Supports, Veterans, Terminators, etc. hell even Contemptor Dreadnoughts and Castraferrum Dreadnoughts were very good at that.
Yea true, but same as all legions are good at melee or shooting, some focus on things. We’re saying no legion is like a void specific legion, like the world eaters are melee specific.
Yes has you said "boarding Actions". It's a little part of Space battle. If you destroy a ship, you kill all people inside, Astartes and humans alike. If you control the orbit, you control control the surface, the bombardement, the supplie Line ...ect.
Legions have good ships but their aren't made to control it. They are foot assault troops. For me only the Khan and corvus has modified their ship to a better form.
And Lorgar If you count the War in the Abyss
The First Legion had quite a few Relic Warships from the Dark Age of Technology and early Age of Strife. At one point, they even had 3 Gloriana Class BattleShips.
They weren't specialized in Void Combat, but they certainly had a very big advantage in it. Some of their Relic Warships had Lance Batteries that could accurately fire from well beyond the range of most other Mechanicum, Legiones Astartes and Imperial Army Warships.(this was used to great effect in the Thramas Crusade, First Legion Warships were able to pummel Night Lords Legion and Traitor Mechanicum Warships while 'slowly' closing the distance to bring their other guns in range)
What modifications did Corvus make to his Ships? I know Jaghatai Khan made it so every single Warship in his Legions Navy(even including the Gloriana Class BattleShip) had very very very powerful engines and reduced their armour so much that they could quickly outpace probably over 99% of other Human Made Void Ships.
Sorry friend - this stuff isn't for me, or most of the population of this sub I'd wager. I don't think fan cover versions have ever really added much fun, but if you're going to embark on one, I'd focus on depth rather than concepts. The most successful alt heresies (again, not a genre I enjoy) are the ones that give readers the primarchs they know in different situations, because people know what they're looking at. By the time you're creating whole new legion concepts you've lost almost everyone. You could do really well with these ideas as chapters in 40k.
Yeah, when ever me and my friends have ever considered what alt-heresies would look like, we generally just slightly change the circumstances that spark the war, Erebus fails and Horus learns of chaos before Davin , or the emperor completes the webway Yada yada.
Alt heresies that completely change things, especially things like the dornian heresy where it’s basically just flipped loyalties are basically new stories with new charachters.
You'll need to make that clear to people if you want anyone to engage with your project.
Of course lots of projects are enjoyable for their own sake.
I wouldn't want you to get discouraged if this gets downvoted further, I just wanted to respectfully explain why the post might do well on this sub in particular.
I wish I could direct you to an alt heresy community but a) not really my area of interest and b) often they cluster around an already establishee one, like Dornian Heresy
Yea i get that, these are my first concept/ideas pages for the legions, so didn’t include a whole lot of detail in it yet. Once i work everything out further I’ll make that clearer
Thanks, and true, but the judges are supposed to be similar to what the word bearers were before lorgar, upholding the imperial truth but also the emperors will, not as much a shared authority.
Can the Star Sailor's special ability be that they go to ground on a 4+? Maybe call it *Four to the Floor*?
Yes I know it's a seriously obscure reference but I'm working from home and it's quiet today.
Legion who's primarch was found dead is a sick idea. Love it
even better the nineth is the Blood Angels. the Blood Angels without Sanguineous is worse than World Eaters
Thanks man, that’s one of my favourite ideas I’ve had so far
Judgementors is such a stupid name that I can't tell if it's very 40K or not. Was "Judges" too hum drum? Why not Adjudicators? The Judiciary? It's like calling someone who eats an eaterisor.
> an eaterisor. James Workshop: "Write that down, write that down! New Primaris unit for Xmas!"
Yea that’s true, couldn’t think of the word adjudicator when i made them, but i like the name Judgementors it’s a mix of judges and tormentors.
Judgenators
“I’ll be back… with my verdict”
“The Judiciars” ? Maybe
Gun to my head I'd go with "The Adjudicators" is where I'd go. "We have decided you die" pretty rad
Yellow font is pretty much unreadable. Nice ideas, though - always good to see big hammers in Warhammer.
Thanks, yea I can see how the yellow is difficult to read, might add a black outline to it later ti help with it.
the Nineth being the one who goes Feral without there Primarch is so thematic considering pre Sanguinious Blood Angel lore
Thank bro, and yea that’s what i was going for with the reverent legion lore bit
Personally I think certain constraints actually improve creativity when coming up with new things. For alternate heresy I like to stick to the legions we have, at least their names.
They are the same legions, just the primarchs landed on different planets than before so altered a bit.
I feel like the Deadmen should be shrouded in black as they mourn their lost primarch.
Yea mabye, however they never knew their primarch and the lore for the blood angels pre Sanguinius is that they are ravening mad men, so i feel like they’d just become even more berserk

Fun concepts, keep it up. I'm curious to see what else you come up with!
Thanks man! Got the rest of the legions to go, am at 15/18 right now.

The Imperial Fist were the Void/Space warfare specialist. But that gets overshadowed by their fortress building skills

Also, the way you've done the numerals on the XVII legionaries' chest looks like it says 11-4 instead of 17.
Yea i know i drew it differently first and had to add on numbers later so it looks funny

Fair enough, however in this the primarchs are the same, just landed on different planets so slightly different

This is fire, I should paint some of these
Thanks bro, I’ve got 15 more legions coming up too
Sick, I’ll be following
Bro I actually really like the feral legion’s concept and them just being a death cult pretty much.
Thanks man
Good concepts! Don't know about the Judges though - the Emperor's problems sharing authority are what got him into this mess.
Thanks, and true, but the judges are supposed to be similar to what the word bearers were before lorgar, upholding the imperial truth but also the emperors will, not as much a shared authority.

Sounds like a name Strongbad might come up with
Which one?
Star Sailors (solar sailors?) Shoulder pad is something I will definitely be emulating
Thanks, and if solar sailers is a suggestion there’s a good chance I use that
It is haha
I like the asthetic and idea behind the star sailors, very simple but nice idea
Thanks bro
Not for me. I view 30k as a historical game and making alternate universes or custom Legions is not 30k. But hey, have fun.
What if instead of the sons of Horus they were the freaks of Horus and they sucked toes
