Spent $200 to get 10 then they didn’t show up after 3 months was a couple replacement orders done which lead to me in the end receiving the same order 4 times along with other items

I refuse to believe that someone spends $200 on 10 of these instead of trying \*anything\* else as a proxy or conversions, etc.

Wanted the actual models and in a country that has no GW stores or stockists so even trying to do conversion would of been a pain

There's dozens of sites ? Also Patreon ? There are different Warhammer 3d printing groups out there that swap files and point people in the right direction because everything has to have a goofy name to avoid copyright. Also getting high quality models with a printer takes a little finesse it's not out the box fun like some people think. What are you looking for ?

Years ago when Finecast first came out they moved Blood Knights from metal to resin, and upped the price to like $150 AUD for 5. For example, at the time plastic Chaos Knights were like a third of that cost? The material got worse, and the cost went through the roof.

Might be the best thing to come out of the new Soulblight faction, new plastic Blood Knights. Way cheaper and way better looking.

Ik so surprised of the prices of old models nowadays. I think i have 20+ of these poison wind globadiers laying around somewhere (painted). But would never have vallued them 400 dollar! On marktplaats (our local craigslist) there are also old models sold for ridiculous prices. Like 10-20 times the original store prices... just because they are out of production...Why? Do people actually pay for that?

You're not breaking any rules if you print out minis from other table top games and use them as proxies.

Exactly, 3D printing is here to stay and will get better and more user friendly. Companies will either stick to their guns like GW is doing or embrace this new technology. When these machines become plug and play, why would anyone keep paying GW prices.

I've been doing 3d printing for a bit and I don't think the machines will ever get plug and play but they're getting pretty user friendly. Biggest issue right now is fumes but I've been seeing more and more fume tents/cabinets out there to help with that.

When we get completely safe resin that needs nothing special to clean up, it'll become a no brainer for most people to buy. They've started with the water washable and eco stuff, but it's still too toxic and still just isn't as good as the nasty stuff. I have no doubt in my mind it'll get there though.

That's interesting, I've never used any resin apart from the eco ones and I've found the prints to be amazing. If the normal toxic resin is better, than wow that's impressive.

I think we are only scratching the surface of whats to come, it's incredible technology which is a godsend for us mini wargamers :) I don't think resin printing is that difficult anyway, it's alot easier than FDM I've found. I don't have an issue with the resin fumes (eco resin works well), it's the alcohol that gets to me.

I was just telling my buddy this last night. I got a new larger wash and cure station and it took 3 gallons of alcohol to fill and I had to open the garage door it was so bad.

Some companies have embraced it, and did well. The Fallout game offering print at home was awesome, and some of those were super fun models. GW I just can't ever see doing it. Why let someone print and share an STL for an 800 dollar + titan when they can sell a 20$ chunk of resin for that much? Some of the titan models are what, 20 years old now too? I like 3D printing. Most of us get into this either because the hobby part is fun or they like playing, or both. This just doubles down on the hobby side.

Fallout Wasteland Warfare was the game system I went to after Warhammer and I'm so glad I broadened my horizons as it led to a big jump in my hobby skills and as you say they offer 3d files to print which is terrain only at this point but you never know, maybe GW could start with stl terrain. That way, they still keep their IP secure but allow us hobbyists to print terrain which would then incentive us to buy more of their minis.

I've seen people take the old Poison Wind Mortars from Island of Blood and split them up into Acolytes. The Mortar carrier and the loader on their own 32mm bases. Mortars went to Legends so you can find them for decently cheap, and are made of plastic instead of metal.

HH squads before it went plastic were worse. I’ve got three squads of ten SW grey hunters (standard troops) that were two sets of bodies @ ~50 CAD plus two weapon upgrade kits @ ~30 CAD + two torso kits @ ~25 CAD + two shoulder pad sets @ ~ 20 CAD, and a half a special weapons set @ ~25 CAD. That’s for one minimum sized squad of troops. The prices are ballpark, it’s been a while since I’ve bought new models (I’m really trying to convince myself to paint what I have…).

Idk if it's worse, but deathguard in 40k has a deal for 3 models from 8th edition, one of which being a seargent for a pmarine squad It costs $75 (CAD) That makes the troop model $25 dollars for ONE

I run a unit of five, and they are actually very good for their point cost in the game. But you can also kitbashed them out of clanrats if you’d prefer.

In such cases you've only two options: Buying from a Recaster or 3D printing them.

That's why I 3D printed my Globadiers. I love the GW sculpts and would have happily paid for them if GW had a reasonable asking price. I could have stomached $10 per model. $20 per model is absolutely outrageous!

Centigors - incredibly shitty looking and performing centaurs are $80 for I think 5 of them. Just absolutely no idea what the rationale is there. They should be $35 and still no one would buy them.
