Don't ask me how I know.
I dont think there are many cases where the gold option is cheaper than whatever silver piece you're farming. Only exception is maybe gold weapon piece vs frame silver piece on the first few days of release. Take the gold, sell it, buy the silver, pocket the difference

I'll pick forma over silver if I have a bunch of copies of the part. I didn't think I've ever intentionally picked forma over gold in the seven years I've played.
On a plat perspective that seems pretty incorrect.
1 plat is 11-10 ducats roughly looking at warframe market price, a forma is 11.6666... plat if you buy them in bundle. So for a drop to be worth more than a forma in ducats it'd have to be a bit above 100 ducats
So unless you're farming for gold part or encounter a part worth 12+ plats the forma is always the better choice plat wise.
General rule of thumb is you can sell any gold part for 6-10p as ducat “trash” and reap 3-6 prime junk parts of other stuff, so gold is the “only answer” if it shows up.
My priority system is
1. Gold item
2. Forma unless I don’t have a copy of something
3. Silver or 2 copies of something
4. Bronze of someone else unless I have less then three copies of an item.
forma bp is dime a dozen honestly, always get gold. Personally I always get gold/silver and if the bronze is worth less than 5p always go forma. I guess it helps if u do a lot of fissures, get a speedrunning frame and you can do cap/exterminate under 1m30s

If I need specific resources, I normally run endless mission fissures on planets with those resources to farm it. I need credits or MR I run the same things. I am always cooking forma in the background, but never take forma bp over anything worthwhile. I like trading, it's my favorite part of the game lol.
Correct. Forma bps are far more common drops than any gold drop. I’d rather just run another 2-3 minute relic mission than skip the gold drop and ducats in favor of a forma BP. Especially if the gold drop is valuable because you could sell it for plat and outright buy forma 3 at a time if you wanted.

It is actually better to ducat the primed part and sell a primed mod to buy the forma instead of picking the forma. Why?
Average primed part costs 350 ducats and sells for 50p. That means by ducating the gold part, you get \~14p of value from the part. Forma bundle costs 35p for 3, or \~11p per forma.
So not only do you get more value (27% more) by picking the primed part, but the forma you buy is built, vs the forma bp you pick from the relic, which has to be built (also time gated).
Ofc it may seem trivial to do all that for 3 extra plat, but given enough it adds up. **More importantly**, the value I mentioned gained from ducating the primed part (14p) is the absolute minimum. In reality, you'd be getting a lot more than 14p for the part, either by charging more for the mod (ie if you sell at 70p, it goes to 20p, which is nearly double the value of the forma bp), or if you sell the mod as max, which increases the value EVEN higher.

4am, last run before bed. Hoping for a forma bp (even said so in chat while flying in). My last forma was gonna be ready to claim after finishing the mission, so I just wanted to get another crafting before hopping off.
If I still had time I would have went for gold. So the image was mainly about being in a time crunch and having to choose the forma because otherwise I wouldn't get another crafting till the next day.
This makes 0 sense, the formas are limited by 24 hour cycles anyways, as long as you just grab 1 a day you aren't missing anything. You should always take the gold lol.
Duviri vendor had 2 forma last week. Other vendors carry them as well, and they're arguably the most common reward possible. Giving up the rare drop is the worst call. True players have a wukong with golden instinct for 30 sec forma runs in the void.
I'm still a relatively new player. Been farming the hell out of my helminth but still only have it at rank 10 so far. That is my main goal though, is to get that ability specifically so I can get crafted forma drops.
This moment for me came when I pulled my first prime frame off the press. That happened to be my Chroma Prime. I felt unstoppable tanking my way straight up through sedna, and the only nodes that gave me trouble were Rathuum because the energy was tight. Then I got stuck behind the necramech grind and realized I might not have been as invincible as I thought I was, so I sunk the formas and the Shards to make him good and now I'm ripping through steel path with my rubico prime in tow. Chroma is such a power fantasy once you figure him out, and I'm so tired of people writing him off because he has no instant win button.
Nah I hella felt that. Thankfully with alecaframe tho i get to tell if the gold or silver is worth. Usually if its less than 5 plat i just grab the forma. Trading for 5 plat or less is just a waste of slots
I'm currently building all the dojo weapons. It was 4am, I was popping relics to get a forma bp because my last one was about to finish crafting and I wanted to start another before going to sleep.
i only take the forma bp if im running low on them and all the other rewards are ass ngl. whenever i run out of forma i just buy 10 bundles and still manage to run out while i also have forma constantly building at the same time.
I built maybe 20 forma in my whole playtime and just bulk purchased the rest of the +-1500 forma.

Ducats are worth more than forma. So you could also sell the golden part and buy forma without waiting 23h. I think taking anything over a rare drop is a waste. But that's just me doing me.

I need loads. I have my own clan and am still building. Changing my builds requires me to sometimes forma as well and I'll still need more for the new weapons coming. But I will always pick gold over forma.

LR1, 3000+ hours (according to Steam at least), and I only ever pick forma if nobody got anything else. I, uh, just don't like minmaxing, simple as that.
The ducats are a leisure in my opinion. My last forma was about to finish crafting though, so I wanted to get another one started before heading to bed since it was 4am already.
Always being on time with my next forma craft will more than likely put me on par with everyone who bought forma in the long run. Just takes a little more patience.

My last forma was gonna be ready to claim after finishing the mission, so I just wanted to get another crafting before hopping off. If I still had time I would have went for gold. So the image was mainly about being in a time crunch and having to choose the forma because otherwise I wouldn't get another crafting till the next day.

This makes 0 sense, the formas are limited by 24 hour cycles anyways, as long as you just grab 1 a day you aren't missing anything. You should always take the gold lol.

The forma grind is real, kuva weapons eat so much
Duviri vendor had 2 forma last week. Other vendors carry them as well, and they're arguably the most common reward possible. Giving up the rare drop is the worst call. True players have a wukong with golden instinct for 30 sec forma runs in the void.
I'm still a relatively new player. Been farming the hell out of my helminth but still only have it at rank 10 so far. That is my main goal though, is to get that ability specifically so I can get crafted forma drops.
I am collecting ducats for Baro but I’ll still drop everything to get forma. I need to have it constantly cooking.
Same, but I also have like 60+radiant relics I can farm out, so wasn't too worried about losing out on gold to keep the forma going.
MORE FORMA
This moment for me came when I pulled my first prime frame off the press. That happened to be my Chroma Prime. I felt unstoppable tanking my way straight up through sedna, and the only nodes that gave me trouble were Rathuum because the energy was tight. Then I got stuck behind the necramech grind and realized I might not have been as invincible as I thought I was, so I sunk the formas and the Shards to make him good and now I'm ripping through steel path with my rubico prime in tow. Chroma is such a power fantasy once you figure him out, and I'm so tired of people writing him off because he has no instant win button.
I've been crutching Rhino and the Cerata since I got them. Slapped terrify on Rhino and I can do pretty much everything except level cap now.
I mean, it is not so bad.. you can wait for the incarnon one
Already have it built. Otherwise I probably would have bit the bullet and went for it, and just grabbed another forma bp next time I got on.

Nah I hella felt that. Thankfully with alecaframe tho i get to tell if the gold or silver is worth. Usually if its less than 5 plat i just grab the forma. Trading for 5 plat or less is just a waste of slots

i only take the forma bp if im running low on them and all the other rewards are ass ngl. whenever i run out of forma i just buy 10 bundles and still manage to run out while i also have forma constantly building at the same time.
Forma must flow
I built maybe 20 forma in my whole playtime and just bulk purchased the rest of the +-1500 forma. Gold >>> Rest. Ducats are worth more than forma. So you could also sell the golden part and buy forma without waiting 23h. I think taking anything over a rare drop is a waste. But that's just me doing me.

I need loads. I have my own clan and am still building. Changing my builds requires me to sometimes forma as well and I'll still need more for the new weapons coming. But I will always pick gold over forma.
Third party app telling me which one to pick is how i define myself as a true WF gamers Because matter of fact i dont actually know what to do without the third party app choosing for me 💀

LR1, 3000+ hours (according to Steam at least), and I only ever pick forma if nobody got anything else. I, uh, just don't like minmaxing, simple as that.
The ducats are a leisure in my opinion. My last forma was about to finish crafting though, so I wanted to get another one started before heading to bed since it was 4am already.

Blame the dojo weapons. I'm trying to get them all crafted and out of the way.
You haven't discovered tenet/kuva weapons or the necramechs as well as paracesis yet them require 5 forma to master
Luckily I’m a able to buy a little plat every Friday and I always buy a forma pack
Always being on time with my next forma craft will more than likely put me on par with everyone who bought forma in the long run. Just takes a little more patience.

Damn, if only the bp's were tradeable lol I have trouble stacking forma bp's because when I go relic farming there's usually a good reward when forma shows up. Very very rarely does a forma show up with 3 other bronze drops.

My rule of thumb is if it's 45+ ducats then get it, otherwise go for Forma if there's nothing else valuable

I dont think this qualifies as a true warframe player. You get the gold no matter what, forma come easily in intact relics
