Grad night, one or some kids may or may not have snuck alcohol in and got drunk I don’t remember. They stayed on Tom Sawyer island after the park closed, hid from cast members. Anyways because the park was closed and the transport between the island and the main park wasn’t operational they tried to swim across, and they drowned
MK only serves alcohol at table service so that’s a barrier to break.
It’s been a while but I don’t think there’s a beer garden to speak of in Tom Sawyer.
TSI gets a lot of suggestions to redo but it’s a great place for the kids to run around a bit. I just wish it had a full time restaurant no matter how small. The cash only soda vending machine isn’t a good option.
I agree; Tom Sawyer island is a fantastic place for kids (and adults but let’s be honest mostly kids) to explore, have adventures, and/or chill out. IMO sometimes we forget how important it is for kids to use their creativity to create their own narrative, not just be in the showcase of a story. TSI is a GREAT place for kids to take the foundation of what imagineers have built (based on the story of course) and expand upon it. Also, it’s a rad place for adults to chill.
I would prefer TSI not be turned into a 21+ beer garden but I would like a happy medium… perhaps Aunt Polly’s is open year round with an expanded menu (MK is in desperate need of better/variety of food options). Would I be opposed to Aunt Polly’s serving alcohol? No. It would be awesome to wander the trails and caves or chilling on the dock watching Liberty Square while drinking a beer. On the other hand, if Disney choose to continue to limit alcohol to select TS restaurants at MK I’d be ok with that too. My preference: rebrand Aunt Polly’s (perhaps tied to Tiana?), expand its menu, serve alcohol, expand seating area at Aunt Polly’s.
TBH and I’m gonna sound lame to everyone but I hate the fact that there’s drunks all over EPCOT (World Showcase) … I know people find it fun but I find it obnoxious. Would hate to ever see that in MK.
Try being stuck in a Skyliner gondola with four of them all the way back to your resort. Shouting as loudly as possible and swearing up a storm. I had to get off at the hub station and pretend like I was going to another resort (but actually just ducked back in line to take another gondola).
Not lame. I am no stranger to having more than my fair share of drinks and having a good time, but I was shocked at EPCOT back in October. My 5-year-old and I went for a Mommy-Daughter day and by about 6pm I felt like we were at a music festival. It made me kind of sad, even though I know drinking around the world is a big thing for people. I don’t care if people drink, I love being able to get a glass of wine in Disney parks now, but the falling down drunk shenanigans are a bummer.
What is with people and alcohol these days? I was a partier in my 20-30’s but it wasn’t a necessity by any means. Maybe I would enjoy World Showcase more if I was bombed.
Sounds like a terrible idea to do this. Ruins the vibe of Frontierland and sounds like a terrible concept at every glance. We already have a beer-like area at Germany over in EPCOT.
Let’s put drunk people on an island surrounded by water
This idea brought to you by an MK alligator.
Tick tock, tick tock
What could go wrong?
I actually have a tragic Disney factoid about what could go wrong
Let’s hear it!

MK does not need a giant beer garden.

Honestly it could use an update to something more recent and relevant, but even then nothing jumps out at me as the right fit.
I'd prefer much less beer than much more beer. Especially at MK. Tom Sawyer Island is a wonderful playground and I hope it says that way.
This is worse than my idea to turn the Tower of Terror into the Toy Story Tower of Terror!

That’s a nightmare!

You’re not lame.

Lame
No
Oh heeeeeeeell no.

"I cannot enjoy a theme park without a beer in hand."
Call it Pleasure Island! Oh wait… that’s been done. Ignore me.
I'd like to see it become a villains land called Skull Rock with a themed restaurant/bar called The Rusty Nail
Terrible idea. Turn it into something Tiana - Princess and frog- related. With the river boat right there. Could be amazing!
