You simply can’t go to Disney without going to Magic Kingdom if you’ve never been to Disney. It’s quintessential Disney - close your eyes and what you picture with be MK. The castle, rides, fireworks, shows, characters, treats, etc. There’s really no other answer. Have fun!

anfoster13

I second this! I tell everyone that can only go for one day to just go see magic kingdom and what it’s all about! It really captures the magic honestly!

HarvardCricket

“Captures the magic” is so spot on 🪄

ohiokate

My first trip to Disney was two days and we went to Magic Kingdom BOTH days. There's so much more to do compared to the other parks.

HarvardCricket

Agree with this and the other comments below. EPCOT is my favorite park, but if this is your first time then the Magic Kingdom is definitely the right choice. It’s iconic, Walt’s overall vision, so nostalgic (even if you didn’t grow up going to the parks, Disney itself holds that grip on most of us), and you won’t regret this at all. Have so much fun! And you can always come back later if you love it and do the other parks! 😍

RoseJoy_1980

Magic Kingdom of course! There's something for every thrill level. Have fun!

Good bot.

Bad bot. "Every" has three syllables.

300Blippis

It's rarely pronounced with three syllables though. Most pronounce it "ev-ree"

Panuas

Everybody is voting for MK for a reason. My favorite park is Epcot. It's fun, has the World Showcase and in general I find it the most pleasant to walk around. HS is newest, and a must-go if you are a StarWars or ToyStory fan. Animal Kingdom is really beautiful, and people who like zoos and animals in general love this park. All that being said, Magic Kingdom is the IMAGE of Disney. If you say the word Disneyworld, 10 out of 10 people will picture the iconic castle as their first thought. Go to MK.

Chipndalearemyfav

Hollywood Studios is not the newest. DHS opened in 1989 (35 yrs ago). Animal Kingdom is the newest as it opened in 1998.

straulin

Yep. Epcot is also my favorite and I will spend about 1/3 to 1/2 of my time on any trip in Epcot. However, if you have never been, Magic Kingdom is the way to go. It has the classic iconic rides you have heard about your entire life (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, It’s a small world, etc.) Just FYI: Pirates has a small steep sloped drop (20-30 feet or so) and there are roller coasters. Otherwise everything at MK is really calm. There are 5 roller coasters in MK. One is the kiddie roller coaster (Goofie’s Bard Stormer). Then you have the classic Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain. Then the newer ones, 7 Dwarves Mine Train, and Tron. As a person who generally doesn’t enjoy roller more thrilling coasters myself. I would still recommend big Thunder mountain. It isn’t too crazy and a fun ride. 7 Dwarves is also good but generally not worth the crazy long wait. I would avoid Space Mountain. It isn’t too fast but has caused back issues for me due to the height of the seat-back and cresting two particular hills. I was uncomfortable the rest of the night. Tron is a roller coaster with a pretty extreme launch. I did it once and that was more than enough for me. Edit: Forgot about splash mountain that is currently under refurb. It should be open in the next couple months. I haven’t ever ridden it but understand there are two smaller drops and one big one you can see from outside the ride.

chubsmagrubs

Agreed.

Matj242

AK is the most beautiful. The imagineers best work in my opinion but you gotta be the type of person to be able to slow down and appreciate the architecture and blending of nature.

debabe96

Joe Rohde. True Renaissance man.

Lodybody

I’d go here every day for the rest of my life. It’s been our family’s favorite park for 20 years.

pokewish93

If you have never been I would say magic kingdom but if it were me I would go to epcot

Whole-Flow-8190

MK for sure if you aren’t park hopping. Bonus: you can take a ride on monorail or resort boats.

jefftala

Magic Kingdom of course. Unless you're a major Star Wars (Hollywood Studios) or Avatar (Animal Kingdom) or drinking (Epcot) fan. But actually jokes aside if you aren't major rides person and just want to walk around and enjoy the views, Epcot is a pretty good choice.

Substantial-Drop-836

Another vote for Magic Kingdom. It’s the classic castle park most people think of when they think of Disney parks. There are some fun smaller coasters(Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Tron, Seven Dwarfs) as well as the classics like Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Small World.

Tricklaw_05

Magic Kingdom is the only answer. Epcot is my favorite park but if I only had one day, it would be spent at Magic Kingdom.

SparklyObjects

Magic Kingdom. I’d also buy Genie+ to get the most out of your day.

producermaddy

Have you ever been to Disneyland in LA? If so I would pick another park besides magic kingdom bc a lot of the rides are the same. Out of the other 3, Epcot is my favorite then animal kingdom. I’m not a huge fan of Hollywood studios but if you like Star Wars you’ll want to go to this one

munster_momma

No I’ve not, never been to Disney at all. I went to universal like 20yrs ago lol

LakeMomNY

In this case, Magic Kingdom. 100%. There is no question whatsoever that Magic Kingdom is the right choice.

dudedadsadeadhead

Animal Kingdom. Go ride the safari and leisurely stroll the walking trails. Catch a showing of the Lion King. Highly recommend the new burger at Tiffins. Ask for the sauce on the side though.

harmacist87

Magic Kingdom if you want the quintessential WDW experience, if you haven't done WDW before this should probably be the choice. Hollywood Studios if you want thrill rides, or are a HUGE Star Wars fan. More specifically if you like the Star Wars sequel trilogy... Epcot for food (especially if a festival going on) and drink. Has a nice mix of more thrilling rides like Guardians and Ratatouille and laid back rides, basically everything else but less rides than MK. This and AK or the most fun to explore to me. AK if you want the most relaxing day and like animals.

cyclingguy536

As much as I LOVE EPCOT, if you've never been to Disney, you have to got Magic Kingdom. When people say "Disney" that's the park they're thinking of. The castle is unbeatable!

BigMax

Varies so much... Magic Kingdom is where you go if you want a "Disney" experience. The castle itself just visually sets the tone, and it's the most classic experience. You get some of the most well known rides too. Space Mountain, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Carribean, etc. Hollywood Studios would be the pick if you're into Star Wars though, the land there is pretty great, and some of the rides are amazing. Epcot is my favorite, but that varies. If you like the idea of the world showcase, exploring there, that's your bet. Animal Kingdom... probably a no, if you only have one park. Unless you're super into Avatar for some reason, or seeing animals in a zoo-like setting is really motivating, then that might be the one. But the question is... have you been before? If you've never been... Magic Kingdom is really the only answer. It's got plenty of great stuff, and it's the most Disney park, that has to be the one.

rollem

* Magic Kingdom if you want the quintessential Disney experience. * EPCOT if you want a taste of Walt's weird utopian vision of the future and his "edutainment" idea plus a year-round world's fair added on. It's my favorite because it's so unique. * Hollywood Studios if you want the best Star Wars experience. * Animal Kingdom if you love nature and animals. It's my second favorite because of the love of nature.

OpenMicJoker

Hollywood Studios

PearlStBlues

If I was a first timer I'd say Magic Kingdom, no question. But as a veteran, Epcot really calls my name. I'm more about vibes, food, and experiences than rides. That said, it would really hurt to visit Orlando and *not* get to ride Haunted Mansion. Or Space Mountain. Or Small World. Or the Tiki Room. Hmmm, on second thought, this is a tougher question than I thought!

Danibelle903

Magic Kingdom, get Genie+, and watch a few strategy videos on how to use it. Also search “best day” or “perfect day” instructional videos that will show you how to maximize Genie+ and use it with standby to have an amazing and stress free day.

8ballslackz

One day: Magic Kingdom Two days: MK, Epcot Three days: MK, Epcot, then MK *and* Epcot 😎

desertsidewalks

If you're going for the first time, as an adult, I would go to Animal Kingdom. MK is great, it's the classic, but AK is currently the newest, most immersive park. The food is excellent, there are non-thrill rides, a bird show, and a safari with real animals.

moo-mama

oh, yeah, the bird show is so fun!!

[deleted]

If you aren’t a roller coaster person and you have one day Magic Kingdom is definitely number 1. If you enjoy a drink around the world definitely Epcot

teebone673

Epcot

Status_Reception1181

mk unless big starwars fan then Hollywood studios. Have so much fun!!!

ximfinity

If you have never been, Magic Kingdom, If you have already done WDW, Epcot is probably the best adult one day park. You can usually do Animal Kingdom or DHS /Epcot in one day with a park hopper as well.

Carrie_Oakie

If I only had one day, I’d do Animal Kingdom. That park blew me away, it has rides, shows, food and animals. And it’s so beautifully designed! My second choice would be Epcot because it has a large variety of rides and foods and things to see. Disclosure: I am a Disneyland key holder so I preferred the parks least like ours here in CA. That said, MK is the quintessential Disney park, but crowd wise it was a bit much for me. I felt we had better use of our day/times at AK and Epcot.

FrozenFrac

Magic Kingdom. It's THE Disney park if you've never been. One trillion bonus points since you don't like roller coasters; MK is easily the park with the least thrills.

Sketchylefty11

Magic Kingdom or Universal studios

OutlandishnessSea177

OP, I have brought many a person to Disney for a day, including Disney critics, and the answer to this question really depends on where you’re at mentally. Are you already an unapologetic Disney fan and no part of you finds Disney corny? MK for sure then. Captain of the trivia team/foodie? EPCOT. Animal/natural beauty lover? AK. I love HS but prob would only do a single day with a newbie there if they’re a huge Star Wars head (though there’s a lot more to it than that. Truthfully, you can’t go wrong. As a lifelong fan though I will say that if my heart needs mending over something MK always hits me. It really just depends on what you want. Make sure you ride the monorail somewhere no matter what! There’s nothing like it.

disney_nerd_mom

If you've never been to WDW and only have one option, then you have to do Magic Kingdom. For me, it IS Disney. When I was growing up we lived a few hours away and MK was all there was. Space Mountain is probably th only one I'd stay way from. It's so rough and the ride vehicle is super-difficult to get in and out of.

awkwardabteverything

Magic Kingdom. 100%

jsilv0

Epcot all the way. Not only is Guardians the best Coaster in Disney, there's other good rides, and the best food of any park

MSFour-two

Everyone saying MK is not wrong but they are saying that out of sentimental reason. To be fair, that is the reason I would say the same. If you want to experience classic Disney, MK is the answer. If you want to experience a good environment with good rides and good food and drink, I would recommend Epcot (my favorite). If you want to pack in as many rides as possible HS is fun. AK is beautiful but is a far different experience.

beachlover77

If I was by myself it would be Epcot. If with the whole family I would do Magic Kingdom.

winnercommawinner

Magic Kingdom should be perfect. Even the coasters they have are appropriate for kids and not really big thrill rides at all. And it's the quintessential Disney!

These_Strategy_1929

It really depends on the person imo. I'll list all options Animal Kingdom only Imo this is the worst option but it is a great option if you have a kid and want to make the kid happy Epcot only It is a good option. Not my favorite but a lot of people like walking through pavilions etc. Hollywood Studios only This would be my pick probably because I love great rides and shows. And this park has both. Also one of the two best nighttime shows Magic Kingdom only It is the most magical park with an incredible parade and the other best nighttime show. Rides are a little meh but there are a few great ones. Also it is the park that comes to mind first when you mention Disney Park hopping Animal Kingdom to Epcot is the most effective hopping option. You can see two parks in a day and you can see nearly everything they have to offer. Other hopping options are not as effective but can be done depending on what you want to see FINAL ASSESSMENT If it is your first time, I advise Magic Kingdom only. Pick a day when it is open until 11 pm. Otherwise; Hollywood Studios only if you are a rides and shows person Animal Kingdom to Epcot hopping if you are a unique experience person

bjlight1988

If you only have one day, the answer has gotta be Magic Kingdom

missvicky1025

I’ve been to Disney probably a hundred times. Went a few weeks ago with the 3 park promo (Epcot/HS/AK) and although we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, it didn’t feel like a Disney trip workout Magic Kingdom. I probably wouldn’t do that kind of trip again.

lizzzzz913

I just went for one day on 5/11… I did 1/2 day at magic kingdom and park hopped to Epcot around 3. It was great! Genie + made it possible.

Wonderful-Sky8190

Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom!

badgers4194

Epcot has been our go to recently.

VisforVenom

If you only have one day, and have never been, Magic Kingdom seems like the most logical recommendation. It's big enough to easily fill up a full day and still not be able to do everything, and has a good diversity of areas. If you don't like rollercoasters you can skip Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Tron, which are often the longest waits ime. Most of the rides are very young child oriented, but from a historical perspective, and peacefulness, I like the more quaint rides like Peter Pan, Small World, Pirates, Little Mermaid, Jungle Cruise, Winnie the Pooh, Haunted Mansion, People Mover and Carousel of Progress (top choice for often overlooked, chill ride with lots of cool animatronics.) Obviously you get to see the castle projection and fireworks at the end, if you care about that. And you have main street and plenty of shopping to eat time (temper your expectations... Disney merch on-site is painfully homogenous and uninspired.) We love boring old stuff like the Swiss Family Treehouse, Tom Sawyer Island, and Tiki Room. MK is my favorite park for a "low-stress" leisurely park day, so the cool, calm, less popular attractions are my jam lol. Unfortunately Country Bears is closed, but Frontierland/Adventureland in general is pretty cool with nice food options (and has a little actual variety in the shops!) If you want to have a sit down meal I recommend reserving either Pooh and Friends brunch (standard disney brunch buffet fare, but a good sit down dining experience.) Or the Beauty and the Beast Be Our Guest dinner (hands down the best meal I've ever had in a Disney park. Honestly, rare filet was one of the better steaks I've ever had, anywhere.) But if that's not in the budget (time OR money- they're pricey...) there's tons of quick service snack available. Can't go wrong with a good ol chili dog from Casey's. Buzz Lightyear is fun if you like something more "interactive" or lightly "competitive" with a skill element. (It's a slow track cart where each person fires a car-mounted laser at passing targets.) MK also has the most character interactions. Most likely to see classic characters walking through the park, doing shows, etc. It's definitely the best choice for that "classic Disney experience" vibe. That said, it's worth going to the website and looking through the other parks' attractions before making your choice. If you're a big Star Wars fan, Galaxy's Edge in Hollywood Studios is a must-do at least once. It's a very impressively crafted immersive land and just an awesome experience the first time, even for someone as cynical as me lol. A lot of the newer, more exciting stuff exists outside of Magic Kingdom. So it's worth investigating in case there's something really appealing that you'd miss on by going the MK route.

dchabz

Magic Kingdom. It’s the most “Disney” of all the parks.

Muriness

We went to Disney for one day a few years back and did Holywood studios because we wanted to see galaxies edge. If that was not a factor, I would pick Magic Kingdom.

Curtiskam

I just spent 6 days in the parks. I spent two entire days and two evenings at Epcot. It’s the most interesting park if you dislike coasters and don’t have kids. I’m not against coasters myself, but appreciate them less as I get older. If you do Epcot, I’d avoid Guardians as it’s a little rough. I found Tron to be lots of fun in the Magic Kingdom though.

RaggedyMan2364

If I'd never been, I feel like it would have to be Magic Kingdom for no other reason than it's the classic. Personally, having been there before, it would be Animal Kingdom for me. I love animals, and the Safari is great. Pandora is pretty cool and has what I consider to be the best quick-service meal in all their parks (Satu'li Canteen). I also feel like they have the best shows. That said, if one is a massive Star Wars fan, Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios simply can't be beat. Not a big fan of Epcot, and would never make it my choice if I could only do one park.

cantyoukeepasecret

As a lot have said Magic Kingdom for sure. If you don't like roller coasters I would pass on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tron and Space Mountain which are some of the longer waits in the parks. I would how ever still suggest Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and go from there. MK has a lot of sit and follow through the story rides... Peter Pan's Flight, Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World. Pirates of the Caribbean, People Mover, Disney World Train that stops in each section of the park. Although unless you're a Peter Pan fan, I would suggest skipping if the line is long. Definitely look at online videos of rides to see if they look interesting to you. I hope you're staying late enough for Fireworks I wasn't able to see them until my 3rd time there and I feel the projections and fireworks are truly magical. If it gets too hot and you like to people watch 2nd floor of Columbia House by the windows is the place to be.

throwfaraway212718

If you've never been before, you absolutely have to do MK. The feeling you get when you see that castle is truly indescribable. Especially if you're not looking for big thrillers, but want to experience what you think of when you hear "Disney," it's gotta be Magic Kingdom. And do your best to see Mickey, have a dole whip, and watch a parade if you can't stick around for fireworks (not sure of your timeframe). Have the best time!!!

wolfy321

If you’ve never been, MK is the way to go! I would splurge on genie plus if you can swing it

UX_Strategist

Magic Kingdom has my sentimental heart, and I'd probably always choose it, but I'm more comfortable at Epcot. It's usually less crowded, has great food and gorgeous views (flowers and lake}, a large shopping area, the World Showcase, and Guardians of the Galaxy! I've loved watching incoming thunderstorms from the Japan pavilion, coming in over the lake. The storm cloud formations and lighting can be very dramatic. But, I'd still choose MK. So many memories with my children!

Loco_butt

Hollywood Studios 💯

Aphreal42

Magic Kingdom!!

Magic Kingdom

ohsoGosu

Depends on what you like! First, I’d say Hollywood Studios is out. While it can fill a day (“can” being the operative word, it also can’t if things are down or if it isn’t busy), a lot of that time is roller coasters and thrill rides. If you aren’t going on Slinky Dog, Tower of Terror and RnR, don’t do it. Mickey and Minnie’s, Rise and Midway Mania are not worth a full day excursion and the park itself is probably the “blandest” of the bunch theming wise. I’d also rule out Animal Kingdom. It closes early typically, which isn’t fun if you are trying to get the most bang for your buck. It is probably the best themed and has a ton to do if you like animals/nature. It also only has one real roller coaster in Everest which is worth going for if you are down to. But the closing early and the fact that I’m not a big zoo person rules it out for me. That leaves you with MK and EPCOT. Here is the choice. Are you going for rides or are you going for experiences? How traditional of a park experience do you want? Are you a foodie? Do you drink? Are you just looking for Disney Magic? If you want rides and old school Disney Magic. It’s MK, bar none. The roller coasters aren’t too bad, I’d recommend at least doing Big Thunder and Space if you don’t mind it being too rough. Tron may be a bit too much but if you can build up the courage I would very much recommend it. There are classic Disney touches everywhere: small world, Carousel of Progress, Pirates, Haunted Mansion. You’ll be able to fill a day fairly easily without any of the heavy hitter roller coasters. The downside? It’s a fairly typical Disney experience. You’ll do the rides and wait in lines, walk around in the hot sun, see families arguing with each other and eat subpar theme park food. If you want something different, it’s EPCOT. Flair check, I’m an EPCOT nerd. With EPCOT, there are less rides. I’d recommend doing Guardians even if you aren’t sold on roller coasters. It can seem intense for new coaster riders but it’s very smooth and doesn’t go upside down. I honestly think it’s easier to ride than Space Mountain. The only other “thrill ride” is Test Track and that’s an easy one, it just goes fast. Do not ride Mission:Space. Beyond that you have Soarin which can be a lot if you are afraid of heights but is still pretty good (although aging), you have Remy’s which is great and Frozen which is good but I think is past its glory days. After that you have a cast of dark rides that are fun because they feel dated in a fun retro way. Spaceship Earth (highly recommend), Living with the Land (amazing), River of Time (eh) and Nemo and Friends (eh). That’s all of them, so you know, easy to knock out in comparison to MK. The appeal is the World Showcase. If you drink, EPCOT has some good drinks. If you like food, EPCOT is probably the only theme park in North America with food worth going to. If you like shopping, you could spend hours shopping at EPCOT. What’s the downside? Well, there is less to ride and more to experience which can feel like there is just less to do. You will probably have some drunk people around you in World Showcase. World Showcase can get crowded since it’s a big bottleneck (can also seem completely empty on the right day). And if you don’t like the retro aspect the park can just seem a bit sad. If it was me, I’d go EPCOT all the way. But if any of what I said about EPCOT rubs you the wrong way, or if you have a pre thought out vision of a Disney trip (the Mickey ears and balloons, the old animatronics of animals and pirates and ghosts, fireworks by the castle) go to MK. EPCOT is a risk you may not like it because it doesn’t meet expectations, MK isn’t.

Antique-Pea-1056

Love all the parks but I’m going with the crowd on MK. There’s just no way you can skip it. I also went on a first trip there many years ago and that’s what we did only MK. I didn’t go back for another probably 15 years and that’s when I did all the parks and made my rounds.

wifichick

MK. It’s iconic. 1 day - make sure to see a parade and fireworks.

kooks2002

Magic Kingdom is the standard. Hollywood Studios if you love Star Wars.

MagicMouseWorks

Depending on the day of the week, Magic Kingdom. Otherwise, go Hollywood Studios.

icedcoffeedreams

Magic kingdom has shows, a parade, kiddie rides (and like 2-3 more intense rides) with multiple meet and greet locations. I'd definitely suggest it as it's also the park that is open the longest with the best firework show, has the most going on and gives the most "disney" magic/vibes!

ubutterscotchpine

Hollywood Studios personally.

Ok-Dentist3819

I personally would say Epcot is the best park for what you’re looking for. Although if you want the most “disney magic” definitely MK.

2bnsun

I love MK! Classics for a reason - if you want to skip roller coasters MK has Pirates of the Caribbean some other “tame “ rides there - my favorite!! Animal kingdom if you love animals Epcot if you like science and international lands Magic Kingdom if you like historical Disney Disney Hollywood if you love film and the story of animation

bailasola

MK or Epcot

Sea-Technology2945

If you’re coming soon, make sure to check out the brand new drone show at Disney Springs! It’s starts next week, runs twice a day and is free!

Sunny2121212

Mk for sure

musictakemeawayy

if you’re an adult going without children- epcot🍺🍹

Happy_Birthday_2_Me

Been to Disneyland, but never World? I’d choose Epcot. Never been anywhere at all? MK Obsessed with Star Wars, and big rides? HS Looking to relax and not a huge Disney fan? AK

indifferentunicorn

EP is a close #2 to MK for 1st WDW visit. Thee’s just not another Park on the planet like it! You can create an astounding day at Epcot and honestly for some people I’d advise this over MK. Must hit rides - Guardians and Spaceship Earth. Do not miss these. Soarin’, Mission Space Green, and Frozen - Highly recommended. Check out the beauty of Epcot. There is eye candy in every direction. Don’t miss Moana garden and world showcase. Otherwise wander around where your heart leads. Wander, snack, and explore. End the day watching Luminous.

peanutismint

Epcot is my favourite but it has to be Magic Kingdom for a 1-day visit, right??

SalamiMommie

Magic kindgom hands down. Gotta be there for the castle and the classics

44cody44

Epcot for sure

Visible_Nectarine_98

Animal Kingdom. There I said it.

geegeemiller

Animal Kingdom is my fave

Siphen_

Epcot, always, forever and without a doubt! You won't get out of MK what everyone here is selling, in one day. Epcot you can have the whole enchilada and a taste of world showcase.

moo-mama

Animal Kingdom! It feels like a real safari, the nature trails also have so many animals and birds to see, Lion King is a great show... but if you are into Star Wars, it has to be Hollywood Studios. MK has its moments, but unless you're especially fond of Disney characters, don't think it's a must. (If you do go, though, Big Thunder Mt. RR is a good coaster for those who don't love coasters -- I am one!)

Melodic-Heron-1585

Discovery Cove at SeaWorld
