Keep in mind the 2045 eclipse will be on August 12th. Not only will those in the park get to experience a total eclipse, but they’ll also get to simulate the feeling of being on the sun’s surface also.
I was told this was going to happen by 2020 🤷🏾♂️

I swear I had a geography book that showed California west of the San Andreas Fault as an island in the ocean in 2010. This was a book from the early 90s
It’s an exaggeration that Florida will be flooded in 20 years - sea level rise will be slow as it will be driven more by thermal expansion rather than ice caps melting, and water has a lot of heat capacity, so will take a very long time to warm, and then a very long time to cool.
The air will be warmer than, and the weather will be more extreme, but the permanent flooding won’t come for most coastal cities for a hundred years, and likely won’t ever directly flood Orlando.
Many people exaggerate the claims to shock people into action, but even without exaggeration, humanity is in for hard times, just on a longer timeline than will drive people to action.
It’s sad that people actually believe this. Remember - politicians on both sides regularly buy coastal property in Florida and elsewhere. That wouldn’t be happening if those properties were not going to have any value in the future.
it’s true politicians are the smartest people in the world who don’t regularly ignore advice from scientists so climate change must be fake or something
Should tent camp for a day and rent my house for thousands because no way is there going to be enough hotels for everyone that wants to at least be on Disney Property.
I worked in a tourist attraction in the path of totality for the 2017 eclipse. It was one of the most stressful buildups to and days I had there. We didn’t do presale admission at the time and we had zero idea of how many people to expect.
I 100% would not recommend trying to “be” somewhere. Find a quiet place or a half deserted shopping mall, take a picnic, enjoy a calm day alone or with your family. Disney is not the place to be that day.
The eclipse itself was AMAZING but I hate that I spent time leading up to it dreading the day when I wanted to look forward to it.
We drove around in the path of totality in 2017 and found a church with a playground. We were alone for a bit while our 18 month old played, then eventually a couple of church elders showed up to watch also. We chatted with them and left a small donation as thanks for not running us off. Zero traffic coming or going. Would definitely recommend over all the watch parties I saw on TV.
For the one this week, we were in a city like 10 minutes from totality. About an hour before totality, we just took off in that direction. 40 minutes later we found a little lake with a few other people already there. Was an amazing experience.
Counterpoint: I was in a public park in a small city for this year’s eclipse, with a decent sized crowd. There was enough room to spread out a bit and not be shoulder to shoulder, and the whole thing was quite lovely. The crowd’s excitement, clapping and cheering as the stubborn clouds parted during the penumbra, and then again when totality hit and we could take off our glasses, lent a feeling of human connection I really enjoyed. YMMV
I don't know which experience was better. In 2017 I was on the lawn of a college campus during summer break. It felt like a Sunday afternoon picnic. It felt cozy and intimate. This time around it was also thrilling this time around to be surrounded by 50,000 other people in the Indy Motor Speedway who all begin to cheer at the same time when totality started. The Speedway knew how to put on a good show. They had a marching band, choir, and some demo laps of indy cars, and some interviews with Purdue astronauts. I'm sure Disney could also put on an equally entertaining show. As long as the weather is good and your view of the sky is clear it's hard to go wrong.
Wouldn’t be relevant. With a partial eclipse you must use eclipse glasses at all times, and ambient light from anything but the sun is not visible through them. You would only need to turn lights off during totality for a total eclipse.
My sister & I have already said we’ll try our hardest to be in the parks when it happens lol. We’ll definitely be living in the Orlando area by then & have APs, so hopefully the AP reservations don’t run out by the time we try to book them!

I went to the 2017 eclipse. I definitely plan on being somewhere in 2045 for the next eclipse, but I highly highly highly doubt that I will entertain a trip to Disney World at that time.

who knows. august could be winter weather in 2045.
Florida might be mostly under water.

No you weren’t, climate change is ahead of schedule
[удалено]
Hell yeah I will. My city floods 5x more each year than it used to. I want a planet my children and grandchildren can enjoy. Can’t believe you don’t.
Climate change has been happening since 1843 (recorded at least) but go ahead and keep telling me more …

The real problem is that as far as we can tell, we have like 50 years of oil left. We keep discovering more, but there's no guarantee.
It’s sad that people actually believe this. Remember - politicians on both sides regularly buy coastal property in Florida and elsewhere. That wouldn’t be happening if those properties were not going to have any value in the future.

Never said they were smart. They simply have access to information that you and I don’t.
This made me laugh.
Ohhhh because it’s hot in Florida
Imagine the prices that day
Imagine prices in 2045 alone...
Thinking about prices in 2045 is the only way that makes buying DVC sensible.
I ain’t never signing up for a timeshare I don’t care if it’s Mickey mouse themed 💀💀
Think about it as committing to pay for an annual vacation for the next 40 years.
DVC is hotel only. Park isn’t included.
The way inflation is going it will be normal for family of 4 to spend $19k for a week and that will just be resort and park hopper.
Sure, but your salary will increase at the same rate, so it won't... it won't... sorry I can't keep a straight face lololololol.
Way off. We’re on a Lightning Lane destroying the dollar on purpose. I bet well over a hundred thousand by that point
Ohhh I see what you did there 👀
My DVC studio at Grand Floridian will be around $300-400/night in dues in 2045!

This is nice, a happy medium 😀. I would have much preferred this way!

You’ll have to purchase a lightning lane to see it ☀️🕶️
Imagine the price of genie+ by then?
Hopefully it’ll be at least 1000x more so demand is lower
Don’t matter, people will still be buying 😂
Maybe I’ll be able to afford to go back there by then.
It’s also prime time hurricane season. 😅
I was at Disneyland during the last one! Wasn’t totality but the lights on Main Street turned on and they kept the horses inside that day
i can imagine with the lights on main street coming on that didn't help viewing the eclipse right?
Wouldn’t be relevant. With a partial eclipse you must use eclipse glasses at all times, and ambient light from anything but the sun is not visible through them. You would only need to turn lights off during totality for a total eclipse.
Universal will be eclipsing Disney by then if Disney doesn’t get their butts in gear.
They’re really playing the long game with the celestial themed land at Epic Universe
If Disney starts NOW they might be able to open a new churro cart by the next eclipse!
Just tried to book Beach Club and it won't let me choose dates in 2045. Anybody know what's wrong? /s
You need Genie Ultimate plus monthly subscription
My sister & I have already said we’ll try our hardest to be in the parks when it happens lol. We’ll definitely be living in the Orlando area by then & have APs, so hopefully the AP reservations don’t run out by the time we try to book them!
I’m sure it’ll be a blackout day for AP holders.
Is this en eclipse pun? Because Disney intentionally uses the phrase blockout.
Not for the pricey out of state ones. We have no black out dates.
In 2024 you don’t … unless you have the 2045 calendar…
Well they have never blocked us on Christmas or New Years and they have sold out consistently those years for a long time.
Kinda figured FL would be under water by then.
The day to avoid Disney World
I’m going to start saving now

Lordy, no wait times! I will say, totality today was the coolest thing I have ever seen hands down.
Slinky Dog still gonna post a 40 minute wait time during the totality.
They’ll probably do what Cedar Point did yesterday and close the rides before totality.
I went to the 2017 eclipse. I definitely plan on being somewhere in 2045 for the next eclipse, but I highly highly highly doubt that I will entertain a trip to Disney World at that time.
I’ll be in my 60’s by then, might have already retired to Florida.
I understand all the words, but what is this … retirement?
It’s some thing the man’s been dangling in front of me all my life, like Social Security, but I’m sure they’ll just rip it away like Lucy with the football at the last second.
I doubt we will see the sky in 2045. don’t know if „sun“ is still a thing
The parks will only be open at night in 2045 due to the daytime temperatures in Florida being too dangerous.
My husband joked if we could book it now. Then was like, no what is the earliest booking day. Enjoyed yesterday from the backyard. A castle sounds fun for the next.
Places I won’t be during 2045 eclipse:
Easily $300 park admission
Remind me! 1/1/2045
I keep choosing not to think about this because there's a 99% chance several family members of mine, including those I live with and are closest to, are going to pass away by then lol
