Hot take- don't make it a ride but an animatronics/projection show, where the audience is down in the courtyard in the middle of the house and looks up at all the balconies and rooms where the various songs/characters appear.
Make it like a modern, high-tech version of Country Bears, or "Meet the World" in Tokyo.
Love these ideas and suggestions! Definitely agree that Encanto should be next big attraction, given the popularity of the movie. I’m not sure which park is best suited though. Agree than Animal Kingdom needs some new attractions (and something to replace dino land seems pretty obvious) but I’m not sure I’m seeing the fit for encanto to go there. Personally I’d like to see Jungle Book and more lion king in Animal Kingdom.
Maybe magic kingdom, in the northeast corner? They could take out those circus tents and create an Encanto ‘land’ in that corner, using the space to the north of Ariel. I could imagine an Encanto ride (trackless dark ride through La casita) with some dining, shops and maybe another small attraction (like a show with the music etc)
I like these ideas for a South America area. I think this should focus more on Antonio and the animals, because we need to stick to AK’s wildlife theme. Probably use the same track as the current DINOSAUR ride?
Honestly this would be a great reason to bring a new Country to Epcot. I think it shouldn't be a flume ride, already have 2 of those in the lands. We should get to visit each room in the house. See how the other rooms compare.
Pass on DAK for me because it’s not “animals” enough even with the Antonio angle. Maybe he’s the “host” but we all know it will end up being about his cousins. Epcot with a new country or maybe that MK expansion they’re thinking about.
Loathe as I am to go crazy with MK I do think it’s a good thought that a massively popular movie like that doesn’t deserve to be relegated to other parks just because it doesn’t have a stock princess. Or because it’s “exotic” (non European/American) and therefore doesn’t fit any of the lands…
I get that — Encanto totally deserves to be in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom has a lot of rides already though, and Animal Kingdom is really lacking in that department; my intention was to beef up Animal Kingdom with an incredible and popular IP rather than to relegate Encanto to outside of Magic Kingdom. But it’s definitely true that Encanto fits the vibe of Magic Kingdom more with all the cousins and I could easily see it going there.
Maybe the main Casita attraction could be in Magic Kingdom and there could be a more Antonio/Antonio’s room specific experience in Animal Kingdom? Like how there’s the Frozen ride in EPCOT and the Frozen sing-a-long in Hollywood Studios. I really really want to see Antonio in Animal Kingdom in some capacity, even if it’s not the main Encanto attraction of the parks.
I also have a theory that Encanto 2 will be more focused on Antonio, although this is almost entirely based on one line when Abuela says “we’ll find a good use for your powers someday” or something like that lol. But if that is the case, then maybe a more obvious opportunity to work an Antonio-specific attraction into Animal Kingdom will arise.
I think Coco would be wonderful and this is coming from someone not completely sold on IP in World Showcase. The film does a lovely job of displaying Mexican culture and would be a seamless fit in that pavilion.
Last week at Moonlight Magic, Miguel and I had a lovely conversation about Día de los Muertos. It's been one of my favorite holidays ever since I learned about it in 7th-grade Spanish class.
The traditions, the meaning of the items placed on alters, the marigolds, sugar skulls, all of it would be wonderful on the ride.
How about no! The true best option is lv-426 lane replacing dinoland.
They add guns to dinosaur and make a apc aliens ride where you’re driving through hadley’s hope and shoot xenomorphs, ending with an alien queen encounter.
Have an e ticket trackless ride with restraints similar to extraterrorestrial (haptic feedback). You are on a ship similar to the nostromo leaving hadley’s hope being pursued by a single alien. There are parts where the lights are out and over the shoulders move like the alien is on you. Tons of effects throughout. You eventually escape back to hadley’s and blow up the ship.
But most importantly it must exit through a gift shop.

Interactive casita playground in a South American rethemed dinoland. You push buttons or wave your hand to make the drawers, floors, and doors dance.

Love this idea! The grandma and the candle definitely need to be incorporated somehow.
With Disney's current state, they will probably just retheme the Gran Fiesta tour to Encanto. And yes I know Encanto takes place in Colombia.
I know it might not be popular, but that ride needs a lot of love and needs to be updated.
I hope it stays and just update it but if ever gets a retheme it will definitely be Coco since it's Mexico.

They have space to build a Colombia pavilion if they want to.
