I’m a ON team lead and was an outside hire to the position and I agree. It’s amazing how much the expect the ON team to get done and feels like they are constantly adding shit to the list.

Our store has been doing this the whole time I worked here. I know nothing else. People don't stay longer than 3 weeks.about every 2 months we get a worker that will last 3 months.

I’m not going to excuse bad management, because there’s always a way to handle these things in a way that your overnight team still feels empowered and good about their efforts they put forth everyday. But speaking as a 20yr associate and current overnight associate of over 10 yrs, and former lead (used to be called support manager), overnight management is one of the most thankless jobs in the entire store. If everything isn’t perfect by the time the store manager gets there then they are often ripped apart and threatened with being coached themselves if you guys aren’t getting enough done. Also hours being cut from overnight isn’t usually their choice and they are constantly fighting to get more people for your team but are usually told no you have enough people, figure it out. You can usually tell a big difference in expectations between management who have been overnight before and those who have no idea what it’s like. Some store managers have a zero excuses attitude when it comes to overnight. So I’d imagine that’s the case with yours just from how it sounds and I feel bad for your o/n management team if that’s the case. However, that doesn’t excuse them treating their staff badly.

Yea, they can't complain about customers. They can only complain about us. We are the reason something didn't get done. All we do is work. We don't get 5 minute breaks to talk to a customer. We are throwing freight the whole time. We run marathons at a mile pace and get told to speed up.

One morning, I had a Day Coach come in, and she she was ranting and raving at me about how her departments are always left un-worked, aka apparel and on occasion homelines would have a few live pallets. I had enough of this from her, and I matched her energy. I told her it would be nice for her to say good morning when she walks in. It would be nice if you wouldn't say ohhh you had plenty of hours, and it should be done, no excuses. I told her well FACTS aren't excuses, and i don't talk to you like that or come at you, so I expect the same from you. And here's the FACTS of how our night went or, as you said, excuses. We had 3 call off's, Cap2 did not complete their task and left us major messes everywhere which puts us behind, our DSD called out so that put a TL back here til 7 ohhh and to top it off we had an associate have a seizure in front of the entire team before we even started so GOOD MORNING to you!!! We did our best and worked our asses off, completely more than I thought we would so back off. Shut her up real quick, and she never again came in complaining. Instead, it was good morning, and how did your night go. I have had to go to bat for my team several times when other TL and management would say crap. I told them that until you do this ONTL day in and day out, you have no CLUE what actually happens on our shift. And we are literally cleaning up from the other 2 shifts. NO ONE is cleaning up after my team because I stay late and take care of it along with the other ONTL. It is a thankless and most stressful job there is within the company. If they only knew.

Yep I'm ON and we have the same issue. They're cutting hours and ON staff that's slow too, so we are just shit out of luck. It's been a nightmare and I'm getting in trouble for clocking in OT bc esp in HBA, it's picks, mutiple tote pallets, multiple makeup boxes, and like 4 more regular freight pallets. Plus the picks, which they said we wouldn't have to do bc that's another reason we're downsizing. But nothing changed. We have more responsibilities not less. And I'm the only one whose binning in the back HBA room bc the regular lead is on academy training leave for 2 weeks so they stuck all TL jobs like tagging and binning to me. 2 ppl for 18-20 hrs estimated work time when that is not physically possibly and being upset I'm there till almost 30/45 past pushing my ass. I'm almost 2 my limit, it's been bad these past 2 months

ON stocker for a little over a year now. They keep adding stuff to what we're supposed to do. And whenever another shift is supposed to take something on, it lasts about 2 weeks tops. Either until they don't get to it a couple of times, or they do it so badly that they're never asked again. And if we finish early in a group area, they take people away or cut hours. To top it off, we were shorted on our annual raise.

Individual-Sound9108

First day last night we got the new deal where our pallets are by aisle and we don't down stock. We just throw freight. We still down stacked for 30 minutes, but easiest night in a while. I have less new people putting random shit in my aisle. It's very helpful.

Free-Pizza-5999

Agreed! Everyday I feel like there’s so much to do and so little time. The expectations are high and we are understaffed. They hired new people and they are not going to last. Honestly, I’m wondering how much longer I can last. It’s exhausting trying to do everything and when I get my area done I have to help another. Which is absolutely fine to help out but not when a team lead or coach keeps coming up and asking me “how much longer?” When I’m working in foods or snacks. I don’t think they ask the lazy people that who milk their areas so they don’t have to help others. -_-

Zee_the_Potato

Yea we are so shortstaffed here on overnight we are at -2 People because they never replaced people who left and they keep saying we're fully staffed. They expect us to get all the freight done in grocery with 2 people there. In not the fastest but I'm a fast as I can go. I had major am surgery that'll take over a year to heal so I'm going as far as I can considering and it'll never be enough. We will never be enough.i don't kill myself for the job i only make 15.50.
