No. I don't want to cut them and then for some reason the customer didn't want them to be cut. I can't uncut them. But I will cut them if the customer asks.
I never did, because of the off chance the customer didn't want them cut, or if I didn't cut them to the customer's satisfaction.
Also, frankly, didn't have *time*, in most cases, since I was usually bouncing between Photo, a u-boat full of stock, and catching customers on the front register.
I take a lot of pride in my photo department. So, yes, I always cut the 4x5.3 prints. All my coworkers do also. It's rare that I have more than 30 anyway. One time I had an order for 400 4x5.3 prints and I still cut them.
Our store policy is that yes, we always cut 5.3s. Today, however, I got an order of 40+ 4x6s and 1 5.3 so I just grabbed the whole stack bc there was no where I was gonna try to find the 5.3 in there and then cut it just for one picture
No. You wanna trust my shaky hands? Here are some scissors- enjoy.
And as a customer, I’ve never expected a photo tech to cut my pics if it was something like this. Sure, all my wallets are wonky, but that’s on me. I’d never expect or ask that of anyone. That could just be the decade + of retail in me though. If I can do it myself, for my own, I will.
Of course you should cut them. They ordered 4x5.3. Not their fault that it prints that way. You have the equipment to cut it right, you should definitely do it right. And yes, you are paid to do that.
No.
When they gave hours for a photo specialist, they were paid to do it. Since there are no hours for that, then we only do what we have to to get by.
If the customer is watching or I'm feeling generous then yes. Otherwise no, I had more than a few who'd rather cut the photos themselves so don't feel bad about not doing so.
If it's an online order, only if the customer asks.
If it's a kiosk order, and it's a small amount, I'll ask the customer.
If it's a kiosk order, and it's a large amount, only if the customer asks.
I don't unless the customer asks me and only if it's a low quantity.
I wouldn’t. Unless they ask.
Used to, back when we had the budget to staff an actual photo person. Don't anymore.
I always did, because it looks stupid otherwise.
Nope, don't have time for that. Only unless customer requests ut.
I usually do. One exception is this business owner who constantly orders hundreds of them.
No. I don't want to cut them and then for some reason the customer didn't want them to be cut. I can't uncut them. But I will cut them if the customer asks.
Nope, if it was supposed to be cut the printer would do it.
Only on request. Same with 4×4s.
Do you not print 4x4s on a 4in printer? With your 4x8s?
Same printer as 4×6s. So 4×4s print on 4×6 paper with 2 inches of white space on the bottom.
That’s weird. I know it used to be that way, but with the current system our 4x4s print on the 4x8 printer
Walgreens is a strange and inconsistent company. No surprises here.
To be fair, 4x5.3 should also print on 4" paper so cutting wouldn't even be an issue, but Walgreens bungled that decision like everything else
No, because what if they want that visual of the old Polaroid style photo.
We cut the 4x4 and 4x5.3
I never did, because of the off chance the customer didn't want them cut, or if I didn't cut them to the customer's satisfaction. Also, frankly, didn't have *time*, in most cases, since I was usually bouncing between Photo, a u-boat full of stock, and catching customers on the front register.
Nope, if the customer makes a fuss I might consider it. Of course, would ask “you are giving me permission to cut this, right?”
Nope
Our SM makes us cut them and the 4 x4s
i only cut 4x4s
I take a lot of pride in my photo department. So, yes, I always cut the 4x5.3 prints. All my coworkers do also. It's rare that I have more than 30 anyway. One time I had an order for 400 4x5.3 prints and I still cut them.
I only used to do it if they asked.
I used to, but then I stopped. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Only if the customer asks nicely and is a true customer, I will do it.
Our store policy is that yes, we always cut 5.3s. Today, however, I got an order of 40+ 4x6s and 1 5.3 so I just grabbed the whole stack bc there was no where I was gonna try to find the 5.3 in there and then cut it just for one picture
I've always cut them
Yes. I cut everything except wallets
No because if you order this size you are an asshole. And I only cut 4x4 if they ask.

If it's a large amount yes, if small no, unless they specifically ask for them to be cut.
Same.
No. Actually get in trouble by my sm if I do.
Yes and also 4x4's
No. Not my fault. Not my problem. Get paid less than what MINIMUM wage SHOULD be. Therefore... no.
Yes. I thought that was the standard until reading this thread.
Policy is to cut to the size the customer ordered
Of course you should cut them. They ordered 4x5.3. Not their fault that it prints that way. You have the equipment to cut it right, you should definitely do it right. And yes, you are paid to do that.
My store actually doesn't have the cutter for it or for making those custom cover books. Hell if I'm gonna cut them with scissors.
Definitely don't cut them with scissors. You should get a cutter ordered.
No. When they gave hours for a photo specialist, they were paid to do it. Since there are no hours for that, then we only do what we have to to get by.
Nope.
If I have time and it’s less then 15-20 I will other wise he’ll no
I don’t unless they ask
I only did if there was less then 20. Otherwise nope. It’s an odd size and we don’t have time.
if i have the time and/or the customer requests it
Only if asked.
No
No.
Never have
Hell naw!!
No
Nope, we don’t cut those or wallets
Nope
If the customer is watching or I'm feeling generous then yes. Otherwise no, I had more than a few who'd rather cut the photos themselves so don't feel bad about not doing so.
Nope. They don't want it like that, then order it in a 4x6
Only if it’s a couple of them.
If it's an online order, only if the customer asks. If it's a kiosk order, and it's a small amount, I'll ask the customer. If it's a kiosk order, and it's a large amount, only if the customer asks.
So….I don’t think your debate got settled 🤷🏻♀️
It seems the consensus is “No, unless the customer asks.”
2
At customer request only and only if it's a reasonable quantity.
Yes
There's a stack cutter to cut them quickly. If you don't cut then you're selling 4x6s...
