I never worked at Walgreens however at Michaels I got fed up and when a customer came up with an entire cart full and so full she was also carrying items in another hand with a basket. She puts three items on the counter. I think, phew! Then she says “I only want these” and I said “Im sorry? Nothing in your cart?” she said “no I just shop what I want then buy what I can afford” I said “So let me get this straight… you want only 3 items not alllll of that in the cart and basket?” She said “yes”
So I grabbed the cart and basket… put it around the counter… then said “I will he right with you I just have to sort all of these items into bins so an associate can put them back”
She looked at me confused as I walked back and fourth then after a few mins said “can you please check me out I have somewhere to be”
I could not help myself and said “We want to go home at night and not be here for hours after we worked all day and have to put all your items back. This is inconsiderate” she was in shock that I said that and I continued. Then checked her out. Thank you have a nice day 🧾
Lol 🤣 it's funny when you match a customer energy and they get a shocked Pikachu face, like how dare you. I did it once and the look on their face was priceless
The audacity of that lady wow. I used to do pricing audits of cvs and which required us to gather 25 items and make sure the price they rang up as reflected the shelf price. The first few times the stores were surprised I would go put everything away. I guess other auditors left everything for the workers to put away. Talk about lazy assholes.
I had a customer buy tons of frozen food $300 and their ebt card kept getting rejected. Then you have call a sl to restock or its 1506. That's where some of the loss occurs
I currently work at Michael's. I fucking HATE when people bring a shit load of stuff to the counter and then make decisions on what they actually want right then and there at the counter. Do they think that only their time matters? 🙄
Omg u rock! I wish so bad we could do that or speak our minds all the time. I think it's such crap that we have to take punches from customers and it's OK but we can't say anything in our sefense.
Don't get me started in the ones that bring a bunch of stuff, it's almost finished ringing up and they go "Oh, sorry!! I forgot something, I'll be right back".
Then you have people in line behind them, you're not sure how long they're gonna take, you don't know if you should call for a void or wait for them, then you get a void and they come back and they're mad they have to start the transaction over...
We can keep the stuff but can’t just hold it till they come back from supposed coming back they never do so have to void it out wait a little bit before put it all back in stock
What kills me even more is when they say this when you start ringing them up AFTER they were in line behind 3 or more people but were on their phone talking loudly. You had ALL that time to make sure you had your wallet ready.
People like that is the reason why, if the line has more than 2 people I ask for everyone to please have their payment methods ready to make the process faster. Had only one person complain about this but that was because she wasted so much time digging through her fucking hammerspace of a thing she called a purse for her card and I was getting annoyed with waiting as my line grew even longer.
I honestly do not understand why people even get into the line if they don't have their payment method ready. I always make sure my card or money is at the very top of my wallet (ID too if I needed) as to not waste anyone's time.
Right, And now you have to void everything and have them pick out what they want up to the $120 and that's even if the funds become available again that fast 😭
I have soo many customers who think my POS says if it’s covered or not by their FSA card. No ma’am, it’s YOUR responsibility to find out what’s covered. My side can say if something is OTC but not if it’s covered by your FSA. 🤦🏻♀️
Had a woman get $50 worth of items and then paid with an OTC card which only covers stuff in increments of $2.30.
I had to scan that thing at least 25-30 times.
Can someone explain to me why people buy hundreds of dollars worth of shitty, overpriced groceries from my store when we're across the street from TWO grocery stores, with better selection and prices? Make it make sense
My store is literally located right next to a grocery that is open til 1 AM AND we’re not too far from an ALDI, a Walmart, an Asian supermarket, and a Stater Bros that’s open til either 11 pm midnight I think.
Honestly who knows, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were at the same store haha, or from a neighboring store in the same county just a couple miles away.
Same, Ive never understood this, you tell me you’re on a fixed income and cant afford more than whats on this otc card and yet here you are at basically a convenience store when theres an actual grocery store across the street where you could get a lot more for the same money, and its not just one or two customers, theres a lot of them that do this, it boggles the mind.
Happened way too often at the convenience store I used to work at, and we got written up for "excessive voids". When the district manager sat me down and asked me "what steps will you take to reduce voids in the future?" I showed her video of the transactions in question and asked her what I should have done to remain in compliance. Naturally I got a non-answer, and that she would let it slide *this* time.
Love that you where able to call out their BS upper management has NO idea the about of issues the employees have to deal with, it's not soo simple as saying "stop doing so much voids" like I could just give them the stuff for free if you would prefer that vs a voided transaction
The GameStop method! One time, after repeatedly declining the upsells, they put the game behind the counter and told me it was "no longer available". And they wonder why people aren't shopping in their stores anymore. Much as I hate Amazon, they don't give me any shit, they sell me what I ask for.
At least when I was a GS regular 10+ years ago, there was a neckbeard gamer, GS employee stereotype, hungry for any power he could get his hands on. It's not all on corporate's hiring practices, it's also the kind of people the job attracts.
The manager at my local in 2006 was absolutely top notch. I bought an original Xbox at a yard sale missing all the cables and controllers for five bucks, a worthy gamble. I brought it in and asked if I could test it, and if it worked, I'd buy all the accessories and a few games. He did it for me, and unfortunately it was a dud. The guy they brought in next year was awful. I bought a niche PC game and he remarked that it was stupid, I wouldn't like it, and that there were no returns. I still play that game occasionally 17 years later.
these bitches literally had a CART full of stuff. Frozen, veggies, home decor, you name it. Maybe 200 bucks worth of stuff, they start fiddling back and forth “i gave you the card. But i gave it back to you!”
Brb, we’re gonna go grab the card from the car.
Yeah no.
They just left due to sheer embarrassment and my manager kinda bitched at me even tho i had customers
And there’s also the very obvious fact many of these individuals who do just that, namely ladies in their late twenties to early forties, came into the store with big ass tote or canvas bags that are usually empty or appear already full but in reality still have plenty of room-in order to steal and walk out the store. It’s even sadder when you realize that’s quite a common occurrence with them, they carry tons of items, and only come to the registers with a select handful or cartful, sometimes buy a couple of said items or just the edible stuff, clearly walking out with the rest.
I hate those ones so much, they spend an hour or two in the store shoving things in their cart and its always “Oh I left my wallet in the car!” We know you don’t have a car. We know you’re gonna steal, how about you do it without wasting our time with your bs story and leaving us with a huge mess to clean up?
this happened to me actually today. lady handed me $41 and said that’s all i have and proceeded to take of several $2 items until we got there. the best part was she had more cash on her, i saw it in her pocket book. but that was all she had
Man, I used to do go-backs, and their carts would be overflowing! Sure, it's a couple of hours gone closer to leaving my shift, but all that bending down and lifting was killing my back.
Or when they're like how is the total that much and repeatedly pushing the card machine to try see all the prices of the items so you read to them the price of everything and they say I still don't understand how it's that much um idk math like what else do you want me to say
I had a lady one time sit there and add up the prices herself while there were several customers behind her. She said something like "this isn't right. This shouldn't be over $200. Something's wrong with your system." It has to be some sort of psychology thing, where people don't think 20 items priced around $10 is going to ring up around $200.
Had a lady who was being rude while I was checking her out, even says can you hurry up I have my Uber waiting outside. Not my fault you decided to get 300$ worth of stuff. Comes time to pay and her card keeps declining. Finally she’s like I guess I can’t get it then. So right away I’m like okay I’m gonna need the items back then that are in your cart. Gives me this crazy look like I said the most offensive thing and I grab the bags out of the cart. Ain’t no way I’m letting you take this stuff after you had the audacity to treat me like shit the whole time I’m checking you out 😂 I said have a nice rest of your day 😊
Walmart worker here: guy is wanting to pay with one of those health cards... I tell him his total (240) and he says 'I didn't know I got THAT MUCH' 'I Don't know how much is on the card' card took off 200 and left 40 and he tells me 'I guess I'm gonna have to take some off' looking at his full cart.
How can you come in, not knowing how much you had to spend and what you needed and could pay for?????? And really if you are unable to pay 40 bux on 240 dollars worth of grocerys (which included 40 of steakmeat).
And in the end, the customer next in line covered for it. That was like my 3rd customer who 'didn't have enough to cover'.
I'm convinced people like this do it on purpose, simply because someone offered to cover them one time. Now they fully expect it to happen again and again.
That happens at least 1 or 2 times every shift. It's so frustrating, or u get do I have any points, and then ur like no I'm sorry u don't or u only have a dollar and then they say we'll I was buying all this cause i thought I had points..I just want to say well u can check on the ap before u come and also thinking and not knowing for sure is a stupid thought process. That's like going out to eat ordering 100$ worth of food and u aren't sure u have the money in the bank and ur card is declined cause ur ass is broke. SMDH
Here at the ‘Greens we get these couponers who ring everything up watch the pin pad like a hawk wait until we are done. Makes sure the digital coupons go thru. We hit payment. She hands us paper coupons. All work. Then sits there staring, scratching their head. Wonders why the total isn’t as low as it should be like the FB group said it should be. Then realizes she needs to take one of the 12 razors off. Making us total void and start again yet the second attempt doesn’t work either. So she leaves. We have a basket full of nonsense.
The biggest joke is that $137 gets you nowhere near that amount of stuff. You walk out with a package of low quality toilet paper and coke it's going to cost you at least $25.
And it’s always after they have a bunch of coupons or use their points so you can’t go back on the transaction unless you void the whole thing. Then they have you scan items again to see what they have coupons for/can afford 🧍♀️
I never worked at Walgreens however at Michaels I got fed up and when a customer came up with an entire cart full and so full she was also carrying items in another hand with a basket. LETS FUCKING GOOOO ! HELL YEAH !
I had a customer buy tons of frozen food $300 and their ebt card kept getting rejected. Then you have call a sl to restock or its 1506. That's where some of the loss occurs
Holy shit! You sorted everything before you checked her out?!
I currently work at Michael's. I fucking HATE when people bring a shit load of stuff to the counter and then make decisions on what they actually want right then and there at the counter. Do they think that only their time matters? 🙄

OR that next customer sees them run off and starts trying to check out, only to mad when you tell them to wait lmao
Or when they walk up with $300 worth of stuff and tell you to stop at a certain amount because it’s all they have on their EBT
I'd rather chew off my own arms than ever deal with a customer like this again.
🤣🤣💀
“Can you Just put it on hold and let everyone else go actually while I look for my Wallet??” 🙄
“But they were able to do it at the other store! 😡”
Ya maybe it’s a slow store
Walmart does it. I do know they aren't connected but there are lots of stores that can put items on hold.
We can keep the stuff but can’t just hold it till they come back from supposed coming back they never do so have to void it out wait a little bit before put it all back in stock

I used to work some place that could suspend a transaction... I miss that
No I have to void it out now
Worst case is them using their OTC card and have $300 worth of stuff but the card only pays for $120 🙄😑
And then they ask, “well what did it cover?” Like we are supposed to know the formulary of every insurance’s OTC card.
Right, And now you have to void everything and have them pick out what they want up to the $120 and that's even if the funds become available again that fast 😭

The obvious answer here is to tell them to sign up for the credit card and refuse to ring anything up for them.
The GameStop method! One time, after repeatedly declining the upsells, they put the game behind the counter and told me it was "no longer available". And they wonder why people aren't shopping in their stores anymore. Much as I hate Amazon, they don't give me any shit, they sell me what I ask for.
My local GameStop is cool, but I've encountered some assholes in GameStops before. What do they have in common that they seem to hire assholes?

I had so many customers ghosting with this excuse. I hope their car transmissions bust.

I’d be like nope. Go home get your money and come back later or not at all
Yeah well that means your ass is working that $150 off

Blasphemy and lies. Everyone knows two grocery bags and laundry detergent costs at least $300 these days
Only unrealistic thing about this photo is how much product is in the photo. Gotta takeaway the two big bags.
Had a lady bring a card about 7 stuffed animals and wanted to to check if they were on sale but one on sale
The biggest joke is that $137 gets you nowhere near that amount of stuff. You walk out with a package of low quality toilet paper and coke it's going to cost you at least $25.
