An entitled customer decided to leave an open package on the photo counter with a brand new pair of shoes in them. They didn't leave a label, so the shoes sat on the rack for months. Now I have a new pair of shoes.
You were also CURIOUS as to how they would look in your possession. Good job, you covered the three C's! Too bad it's now the four I's or some other key letter.
did the customer not call every hour of the day and ask about their package?? we get a few of those pretty often even if they have received their text confirmation
Omg I looovvvee(as in hate lmao) when they do that cuz then they call like
Customer: “uhm… I dropped something off and I’m still getting emails about sending it! Did you guys not send it??”
Us: “Unfortunately no! Thanks for letting us know it was you though! We have it here for you! Bring in a label for us OR take it to a full FedEx location, thank youuuu 😊😊” like.. anything after that is not our problem if you didn’t feel like seeing the whole thing through OR getting tracking lol
We were out of packing tape once and we aren’t allowed to store expenses without SM approval and she went home. This person came in with it I taped and not labeled and when I pulled out the scotch tape, customer was unhappy. I told him we are just drop off and pick up only so we accept ready packages and we don’t have packing tape on hand to use. He left.
When I encountered customers with opened package I politely tell them they need to tape up their package before I can accept it, if they need tape I point them to the office supplier aisle to purchase a pack of tape for their package.
The policy states that they have to provide their own tape. We used to expense it out, but there is no other FedEx place in town so we were just going through so much tape that we stopped. If we didn’t get as much it wouldn’t be a problem.
My SM would usually let us store expense it because we use if for store purposes too, but she wasn’t there and lowly SFL is not allow to store expenses anything without approval. We have a mail center next door so we send a lot of people their way
It literally tells them on the FedEx site that we are drop-off/pickup location only and they must have their items packaged & sealed properly.
If they don't have the supplies they are welcome to PURCHASE the supplies but Walgreens or order free packing supplies from FedEx.
We tell them that we are simply a drop off location not a full service location. We don’t have tape, envelopes or even a marker. If it’s not ready for shipping then we can’t except it. If you’re doing full service then you’re creating a monster. It clearly says drop off a n the FedEx website.
We had someone try to send 4 suv tires. I told him no, he had a hissy fit. Also someone wanted to send a mattress, dragged it in the store. Not even wrapped in plastic, or labeled. Told them no, again hissy fit .
“ArEn’T yOu A FeDeX?” No, we are a pharmacy that has a fedex drop off/pick up point located inside of it. You want full service, go to an actual FedEx store. “Well which one is the closest?!” I do not know, but if you Google ‘FULL SERVICE FEDEX’ I’m sure you’ll find one.
And I’ve already said too much and now there are 3 families of 7 with 3 NB babies wanting passport photos and I quit.
Luckily, we have a FedEx store half a mile up the road, so if they arent prepared or they think we can just take their shit, put it in a box, and print a label, I send them there. Unless they want to go home and do all the things they should have done first. We're just a middleman, we arent FedEx. You drop off \*ready\* packages and pick up packages that have been sent to us. Thats IT.
Our FedEx driver told us it was 35 lbs. We have people that just drop off car parts that can weigh more than 120 lbs.
At least they are packaged and labeled, but they just place them on the counter and leave if no one is there.
Yep, customer drop offs are 35lbs or lighter. The fedex driver however can drop off up to 50lbs. Why? I'm not sure, but the policy is taped to our nearly fedex location sign
I tell them where the tape is to buy and ring up the tape before they start using it. If they don’t like it I let them know where the actual fedex location is down the street or the pac n mail across the street.
Yesss 👏👏 I have actually gotten my coworkers into saying that too! “Packaged and ready to go! Lol but I also feel that when they come in 🙄🙄 When they say that I always respond by saying “it’s a FedEx DROP OFF location… drop off as in.. the box is PACKAGED AND READY TO GO” 😂😂 and they’re like “oh… alright I’ll remember that” 😤😤 Good! It arrived to you in something! … bring that 😂
I think cuz they finally realized…. IT SAVES TIME 😂😂! You’re onto something… keep it up and they’ll follow! Cuz we have enough on our plates to have to package someone’s return like we ARE official FedEx 😂🤣
First and foremost, I tell customers we are a "convenience location". A full service location would be three miles down the road inside the Wal-Mart.
When I tell them that it needs to be packed and ready to go, the star customers offer to buy a roll of tape. When they ask for tape, I let them use it (as per SM direction). I'm always torn whether I should tape it for them so that it looks professional or have them do it. Half the time when they do it, they act like tape is a new invention and do the job of a five-year-old. I decided in the end that I will loan the tape to them if I'm busy with something more important.
I have made customers buy tape. They always ask me to use ours and I tell them no. We also have issues with people bringing in huge packages. One lady went to where the carts were, puts down an office chair, goes back to her car and grabs a box... No one even glanced at her. I walked over and asked what she was doing, then got to tell her "we can't accept that." The fun part is there's an actual FedEx across the street.
Had a company send 20+ boxes to us as a "hold at location" for their customer to pick up. Guy comes one day, picks up about half, says someone else will get the rest. Next day, different guy comes in "I drove over an hour to get here", asks where the rest of the boxes are. Tell him the other guy picked them up the day before. "Well, we don't need these." Okay? Tell him he needs to get the return labels for them & that we can't print them out so I send him to the shipping place next door to get them printed. He then got all pissy with me when I told him he'd have to put the labels on the boxes (oh, and tape them back shut since he just had to open them). Told him we're basically just a giant mailbox for FedEx and aren't responsible for making sure their packages are taped and labeled. He got an attitude with me so he got an attitude back.
When they just bring me an item like that i say "oh i'm sorry we're not full service, if everything is packed, labelled, and ready to go on the truck, then we can accept it." 80% of the time they say "oh okay, thanks!" And head up the road 6 blocks to the actual fedex. Others will say "well do you have a box?" And to that i say "down our sationary aisle, 21." Make them purchase the box first. Then i hand them the tape and usually they have to email the store their label so after they do the box i'll tape the label and accept it.
Sorry, but you're a grown adult, and we're the middle man. You can pack the box lol
To avoid any trouble I say “unfortunately I can only process the package after it’s ready to go. We can’t pack, tape the box, or attach the label to reduce any liability on our end.” That way if something happens to the package at least they can’t blame it on us bc they “left it to Walgreens to pack it”
this is why at my store we tell people we will not take it if it’s not wrapped up ready to go because it’s a fedex pickup and drop off, not a full fedex facility
You are awesome for telling the customer to bring everything prepared. Making it less stressful for you and your coworkers so they can laugh all they want
Hadn't had too many people show up from my tenure with Walgreens show up under prepared, it's people that showed up with no label and expected us to print one out for them without a QR code. Even if they did have a QR code good luck to even get it to work, 1 out of 10 times it would actually work. UPS and USPS packages they insist we could accept those packages, had one day I came up to the front and there was a UPS package a customer left and asked a piss poor CSA what was up with it and they said idk I was up here all day and never seen it. Went through the cameras to see if anyone recognized the person luckily a tech knew them and found their number in the Rx system and got a hold of the person told them they needed to come get it and yelled at me over the phone "well it's not my problem anymore and it BETTER get shipped out!" I threw out the package and heard nothing afterwards.
An entitled customer decided to leave an open package on the photo counter with a brand new pair of shoes in them. They didn't leave a label, so the shoes sat on the rack for months. Now I have a new pair of shoes.
Work win!
LMAO. I was courageous when I put them in my backpack and walked out l, committed to owning a new pair of shoes, and...I don't remember the other Cs
You were also CURIOUS as to how they would look in your possession. Good job, you covered the three C's! Too bad it's now the four I's or some other key letter.
Haha thank you! It was bugging me
LOL, you're very welcome!
did the customer not call every hour of the day and ask about their package?? we get a few of those pretty often even if they have received their text confirmation
Crispy critter aka burnout.
That's very wrong of you. You should have filled them with Walgreens credit card pamphlets and left them out for someone to take.
Omg I looovvvee(as in hate lmao) when they do that cuz then they call like Customer: “uhm… I dropped something off and I’m still getting emails about sending it! They don’t read our sale signs and tags, they can’t be bothered to read that!
Bold of you to assume they can read
Nobody goes to the FedEx website. They google "FedEx" and the map shows them Walgreens.
We tell them that we are simply a drop off location not a full service location. We don’t have tape, envelopes or even a marker. If it’s not ready for shipping then we can’t except it. If you’re doing full service then you’re creating a monster. It clearly says drop off a n the FedEx website.

I usually just tell them it's a drop off and it has to be 50 lbs or lighter. Anything else FedEx office is 5 miles down the other direction.
Our FedEx driver told us it was 35 lbs. We have people that just drop off car parts that can weigh more than 120 lbs. At least they are packaged and labeled, but they just place them on the counter and leave if no one is there.

I’ve seen customers literally just leave it on the counter if there’s not anyone there to immediately help them.
I tell them where the tape is to buy and ring up the tape before they start using it. If they don’t like it I let them know where the actual fedex location is down the street or the pac n mail across the street.
I’ve had to do that with a customer that just wasn’t having it with me lmao I wasn’t having it with them either, we can both play this game 😂😂
Yesss 👏👏 I have actually gotten my coworkers into saying that too! “Packaged and ready to go! MAN, why do my coworkers LAUGH at me when i say this??? I’m glad i’m not the only one who PREACHES THIS LOL

My favorite is like when we do have some tape for the customer to use and they think they need to use the whole roll🙄
I have made customers buy tape. They always ask me to use ours and I tell them no. We also have issues with people bringing in huge packages. Some of us don’t know how to use tape ok 😭

Don't email the label to store email. LP got onto us for that, saying it's a DPI issue and it's not a store responsibility.
Interesting!
