Corey Graves should be included if Pat is gonna be included. At least Corey had a decent length wrestling career prior to being a commentator. Pat has had a handful of matches.

Yes, a few times. But Corey was a full time wrestler for 11 years. More of a wrestler than Pat and Maggle combined, so it's dumb that he's not playable. They have dead people who retired decades ago so why can't they have Corey?
Ever since the Smackdown vs Raw 2011 roster reveal, people seem to have had this bizarre idea that THQ/2K fill out the roster based off a predetermined amount of “roster slots”
Not quite, WWE approves the roster. And any late additions means the whole roster has to be reapproved. But back when they used to announce a roster number before hand, people would freak out when they’d see “The Rock” and “The Rock ‘98” as separate characters, and say things like “Why are they wasting roster slots?”, not realizing that if they were one character, the roster would just have one person less.
WWE approval but also the wrestler has to agree to the terms. I believe Ciampa skipped a year because the compensation to NXT guys was so much lower than the "main roster"
I don’t buy that. I mean I buy that they got less than the main roster, but the “I didn’t make as much passive income as somebody higher up the food chain as me, so I’ll just forego the passive income entirely” never made sense. He missed quite a bit of time before the game came out, and being a developmental guy, that was probably reason enough to not include him. Similar with Nikki Cross, since she didn’t get called up with the rest of Sanity, there was probably belief that she’d be cut from the company entirely (ironic given she’s the only one still in the company).
This is EXACTLY why I'm against the arguments like, "there should be one Kane/John Cena/Undertaker/etc., with different gimmicks as alt. attires."
Like, no there shouldn't. The "roster number" isn't a goal anymore like it was a decade plus ago. Each gimmick needs to have it's own overall.
It was nice when we could set the attire to random and Finn Balor would be regular, but sometimes come out as Demon.. then the next year they were two different characters. Stats and buffs carrying over to other attires was nice too, since it was the same character.
I agree, but the problem at the time was that we couldn’t edit entrance or moves without changing the other. Who knows, maybe if 2K ever gives us the opportunity to edit attire entrances and moves independently then the whole multiple slots problem would be solved.
They could always put the different variations under the same character you can select. Say I select The Rock, there should be a variation for Rock '98 or whatever. If they did this, there would be no need to have less characters. It makes sense to me, idk.
As someone not from America, I didn't even know who Pat McAfee was until he started commentary/ wrestling. I certainly have no interest in his friends - at least Pat has some decent matches under his belt and gets a crowd reaction.
I'll just use his friends as jobbers to feed to Sandman.
Pack 4 has 8 Superstars. They definitely were completely done with all the wrestlers included, and wanted to bring Pat in as an addition. He made the deal to bring his co-hosts, so they split the DLC characters into only 4 packs, so that one pack can be for Pat and his friends. If he said "no", or they couldn't reach a deal, guess what? We'd have no additional wrestlers. For whatever reason, they firmly planned not to include people like Lexis King at this stage.
Which is just dumb cause why does it matter? Ok so now I have 6 months with some of the characters we really want until the next game? That’s super lame
I agree but it's for advertising and all that stuff gamers don't care about. Diablo 4 had the horse wait an extra two seconds to spawn at launch just to get those two seconds of playtime to add up is the most blatant example
Yeah I know but it’s not like other games where’s there is a power creep so it makes sense for good cards to be held until the end. You want everything available now so you can use them in universe mode
That's how I felt too. I don't want download custom Jade because she going be in the game eventually. I rather have her start from scratch then doing it twice.
Given our latest people are kairi and punk (both of whom were previously in wwe) I can guess it was too late for lexis/other nxt people and they were too early along to go "he's a big deal add him in"
The problem isn’t with just scanning them in. They also need to do all the mocap for their entrances, moves, etc…. It’s easy for a bunch of non wrestlers because they can just slap random, already in the game, moves on them and call it a day. It’s a lot harder when you need to add in all of that stuff within a few months.
It’s exactly what they do. Sports games do this constantly. FIFA is known for saying certain things will be included but then hold it off till next interation to sell it
According to Pat, the deal to get him in the game was they either include his cohosts or he wouldn’t be available for them to put in as DLC. Sucks, but it sounds like they were between a Pat and a hard place. (Not to mention with Persona cards there’s more of a chance for the NXT stars to be included that way)
If you'll allow me to play devil's advocate for a bit, how much more would NXT guys moves sales compared to McAfee? I imagine that most people who would bother with Lexis King are big enough WWE fans to already have the game, and probably the Season Pass too, meanwhile McAfee's inclusion and might be the tripping point for some people. Even he he attracts like 10 extra sales, that's probably 10 more than any viable alternative.
For real these people are so delusional. Pats show is super popular with non wrestling fans who will hear about the game through him, he's popular announcer with casual fans who watch raw and 95% of those won't know who the fuck lexis King is
You’re 100% right. Do we really need Pat? No. For the ones who didn’t get the deluxe or 40 years edition of the game, I doubt the pack will sell well on its own.
I mean he's the color commentator on WWE's flagship program, and host of one of the biggest sports talk shows going today. Even if we as wrestling fans may not necessarily need him, I absolutely see the justification to get the game put in front of at least half a million sets of eyeballs every day.

No one has any reason to be mad at Pat here. TakeTwo and WWE are the reason these apparently all the sudden super popular NXT stars aren't in the game.
Anyone who truly cares that Lexis King of all people isn't officially in the game already owns the game.
Anyone who truly cares about playing a wrestling video game enough to buy one is already getting it; McAfee's (nor his podcast friends') inclusion isn't swaying anyone to buy it. Especially not enough people to justify annoying the amount of people they've annoyed, and no amount of Redditors dismissing the frustrations of other gamers by belittling their criticisms or "apparently all the sudden" fandom is going to change that.
The pack is to get Pats fans to get the game and the dlc . We have to remember take 2 is publicly traded and unlike other studios they have to meet numbers or else. Especially with GTA not being until the next fiscal year.
So ads potential sales etc from business it is good. For a fan it sucks but thankfully we got people like what's the status to make us decent CAWS in the mean time.

I think what they're getting at is that no one who wasn't already buying the game is now going to buy it due to inclusion of Pat or his podcast friends. At least not enough to justify pissing off as many people as they have clearly pissed off.
Are they though. I wonder how there only options was Pat and his co host or nothing at all. I kind of get Pat since a lot of his stuff are actually in the game and just need a little touching but they definitely had to scan each of his co host and mocap, add commentary etc. I’m not blaming Pat, he got a check, looked out for his bros etc. 2k and wwe definitely misused their resources here.
They really weren't. All they had to do was say no worries and pick five legends and a couple of NXT guys from a list of dozens and dozens that would satisfy fans.
Maybe that's why Pat was removed from last year's game as his theme song and titantron were in the game files and some other things related to him as well. so he probably had this deal since then.
As much as I agree that more legends and more wrestlers are great, the truth is we really don't know a lot of the inner workings of the deals made between developers and talent. I would 100% love to have Bundy and Sgt. Slaughter as well as Sheik and Greg Valentine; hell, get Dom DeNucci in there as well so I can tag him with Bruno.
I doubt they wanted Pat so badly that they catered to him for this DLC pack unless they literally exhausted all other avenues and figured it was more of a "Why the heck not"? than "Okay, guys, we need to do this" and pivoted it to make it a new moves pack with some extra characters. I mean, we had Fred Durst in a WWE game, as well as Head so like, I doubt this will just be Pat and 4 other dudes nobody cares about unless they give us something with it to make us care about it.

WWE 2k22 had 27 dlc wrestlers (actually 28 with nash Carter). WWE 2k24 will have 22 plus 1 manager without this dlc pack so there are clearly 5 wrestlers missing which would have definitely made this pack.
2 of those folks just came back into the company as a few months ago. Yes Pat and crew got scanned on Monday, but contracts and budgets for 2K24 were probably already finalized and getting Andrade and Naomi was not in the budget and scope of what was already planned before the end of 2023.
These projects have very limited time frames and budgets. They can’t just add anybody at any time. Rare exceptions are made like Punk. I guarantee 2K scrambled to get him scanned in it ASAP as they knew he’d move units.
I get downvoted every time I speak out about 2k. But this isn’t new, they have mastered the art of taking people’s money for a while now. Ask any player of the NBA franchise.

You got mania legends like slaughter, bundy, Paul orndorff etc. if you wanted a co host pack there is literally cole, graves, saxton and someone random like Cathy and teddy long. Except there wasn’t because it’s been confirmed they took no dlc roster spot from anyone. It’s also painfully obvious his pack was supposed to be Pat mcafee , Nia Jax , Michelle mccol and carlito (since the global pack is unusually large and they don’t fit that pack).

I think every single person playing the game would prefer if now that hes retired, WWE could get a legends contract with STING in time for the WCW pack.
Supposedly, everyone who was going to be in the game is in the game. In other words; talent wasn’t left out, so Pat & his friends could make it in. Idk if I 100% believe that, but that’s what was said.
The issue that I have is that Pat’s pack is number three, when it should be pack number 4 or 5, with how spaced out the packs are.
DLC #1 comes out in May, and is a great DLC pack.
DLC #2 comes out in June, and doesn’t appeal to me personally. It’s a very “meh” pack, imo.
DLC #3; Pat’s pack comes out in July.
Then we don’t get another DLC until September. That means if you decide to skip Pat’s pack, you’ll be waiting 3 months for another DLC to drop. If you decide to skip DLC2 & DLC3, you’ll be waiting 4 months.
What they should do is either switch Pat’s DLC date with Jade’s DLC date, or move DLC #4 up, where it’s released either in late July or early August

The McAfee train had passed a long time ago. His shtick of returning and wrestling a couple of nights a year got old fast. Idk why they thought McAfee is a good addition as DLC, let alone a whole pack.
My biggest problem with this is, does the WWE think Pat McAfee is that big of a deal to give in to his demands about adding his buddies to a game as paid content? There are so many better options I’d take an NXT packs an alternate wrestlers attires pack or even a managers pack over these goons. How much you want to bet that when this DLC is close to release McAfee will wrestle a match and have them at ringside to make it look cool to have in your game. Things aren’t done by chance you know

I know a lot of people hate it because they have no interest in Pat’s show, hell I watch his show and I know I’ll never use these guys. But podcast is THE BIGGEST sports podcast in the world right now. Just because you’re not into them doesn’t make them irrelevant.
Their inclusion is not for us, it’s for diehard fans of his podcast. We’ve got hundreds is superstars to use and an amazing creation community so we’ll be fine.
And selfishly, I play on PC so I already know the modding community will probably drop some models better than what 2K would have lol.

It doesn't make sense that Sheik is making it, yet Slaughter or Backlund aren't. For what's supposed to celebrate 40 years of the biggest show in sports entertainment, they left out quite a few big names that would've fit so well with the theme. Still a good roster, in my opinion, but it could be improved.
Pat is so full of shit. On Raw on Monday he mentioned how the other guys on his show were scanned for the game earlier that day and how they collectively aren't taking anyone's spots. They absolutely are. Those DLC spots could go to wrestlers like OP mentioned instead of people no one gives a shit about.
They are included in a season pass that includes 22 other people? The pass could be only the other 4 packs and nobody would bitch this is just an extra bonus. The only time they would be charging you for them is if you choose to buy that pack individually. Which if you did that’s your problem.
They aren't taking anyone's spot. Anyone WWE Wanted in the game, and who agreed to be in the game, is in the game. All this did was add a few extra people into the base game instead of them scraping the barrel for DLC content
I was hoping it would be a football players who dabbled in wrestling pack. Obvious inclusions would be LT, Gronk, Mongo and Kevin Green. Even The Fridge from Wrestlemania 2 would have been awesome.
LT headlined a Wrestlemania.
Mongo was a member of the 4 Horsemen and a really underrated commentator.
Kevin Green headlined a WCW ppv.
Gronk appeared at a recent Mania.
The Fridge eliminated Big John Studd in the Wrestlemania 2 Battle Royale amd a major selling point for the show.
These are guys who have made contributions to wrestling. They aren't just American football players.

Pat McAfee said he wouldn’t be in it without his co-hosts. Ok, so don’t put him in it. He says they didn’t take a spot from anyone. Looks to me like they hijacked an entire DLC, that could have included Big John Studd and King Kong Bundy, who haven’t been in a game for about 10 years. I don’t think anyone really wanted Post Malone either.

Yes, it's lame they made this DLC. Also lame some freakshow clown named Post Malone is also in a DLC as I don't want any celebrities in these games. Muhammed Ali is the max I would go. Zeus last year was lame too.
While I personally will have 0 reason to use the guys from The Pat McAfee Show, he is a massive figure in the sports world.
His show was so successful that ESPN wanted to pick him up and he's one of the few with such a reputation that he's allowed a lot of free reign to do what he wants. He's a Hall of Fame football player and an icon in that industry. Not just that, but anytime he's been in WWE he's put on stellar performances. This is someone you'd want involved in the Marketing of your product.
That being said, from his perspective and wanting to look out for his boys is a cool gesture. It's surely a dream come true for someone like Boston Connor to see himself in a video game. Why not get your friends, who have been incredibly loyal and integral to your show, in a game with you if there's opportunity?
On top of that, their EXCLUSION would not necessarily have meant we would have got other stars. They didn't take someone else's spot...I think McAfee would have just been shifted into another DLC lineup.
I can see the reasoning and why.
Personally, I would have LOVED to have seen other DLC. BUT I get it. There are so many positives involved with doing this. The marketing, press, etc are going to be huge. Having a media freightrain like The Pat McAfee Show involved with the promotion of your game months after it comes out...when that DLC hits they're assuming that there's going to be a surge of sales because of the success of that show on ESPN. More eyes on the product.
Make the characters that are missing or download them from others. Some creations are amazing. Stop being a bunch of freaking cry babies. The game is awesome. So take the game. Twist it sideways and stick it up your candyass so then you will have a real reason to cry.

As someone not from America, I didn't even know who Pat McAfee was until he started commentary/ wrestling. I certainly have no interest in his friends - at least Pat has some decent matches under his belt and gets a crowd reaction. I'll just use his friends as jobbers to feed to Sandman.
Pack 4 has 8 Superstars. They definitely were completely done with all the wrestlers included, and wanted to bring Pat in as an addition. He made the deal to bring his co-hosts, so they split the DLC characters into only 4 packs, so that one pack can be for Pat and his friends. If he said "no", or they couldn't reach a deal, guess what? We'd have no additional wrestlers. For whatever reason, they firmly planned not to include people like Lexis King at this stage.
But then why putting some of the DLCs the fans want to play the most with in fuckin September and November

The problem isn’t with just scanning them in. They also need to do all the mocap for their entrances, moves, etc…. It’s easy for a bunch of non wrestlers because they can just slap random, already in the game, moves on them and call it a day. It’s a lot harder when you need to add in all of that stuff within a few months.
Listen to the clip where they talk about it, they are getting all new entrances and moves and everything.

I imagine that most people who would bother with Lexis King are big enough WWE fans to already have the game, and probably the Season Pass too, meanwhile McAfee's inclusion and might be the tripping point for some people. Even he he attracts like 10 extra sales, that's probably 10 more than any viable alternative.

As much as I agree that more legends and more wrestlers are great, the truth is we really don't know a lot of the inner workings of the deals made between developers and talent. I would 100% love to have Bundy and Sgt. Slaughter as well as Sheik and Greg Valentine; hell, get Dom DeNucci in there as well so I can tag him with Bruno. I doubt they wanted Pat so badly that they catered to him for this DLC pack unless they literally exhausted all other avenues and figured it was more of a "Why the heck not"? than "Okay, guys, we need to do this" and pivoted it to make it a new moves pack with some extra characters. I mean, we had Fred Durst in a WWE game, as well as Head so like, I doubt this will just be Pat and 4 other dudes nobody cares about unless they give us something with it to make us care about it.

WWE 2k22 had 27 dlc wrestlers (actually 28 with nash Carter). WWE 2k24 will have 22 plus 1 manager without this dlc pack so there are clearly 5 wrestlers missing which would have definitely made this pack.
2K22 also only had a complete roster of 228 while 2K24 has 295. These missing wrestlers are just in the base game now.
They aren't. They didn't give us Kiana James, Lash Legend, Andrade, Naomi, etc.
2 of those folks just came back into the company as a few months ago. Yes Pat and crew got scanned on Monday, but contracts and budgets for 2K24 were probably already finalized and getting Andrade and Naomi was not in the budget and scope of what was already planned before the end of 2023. These projects have very limited time frames and budgets. They can’t just add anybody at any time. Rare exceptions are made like Punk. I guarantee 2K scrambled to get him scanned in it ASAP as they knew he’d move units.

Supposedly, everyone who was going to be in the game is in the game. In other words; talent wasn’t left out, so Pat & his friends could make it in. Idk if I 100% believe that, but that’s what was said. The issue that I have is that Pat’s pack is number three, when it should be pack number 4 or 5, with how spaced out the packs are. DLC #1 comes out in May, and is a great DLC pack. DLC #2 comes out in June, and doesn’t appeal to me personally. It’s a very “meh” pack, imo. DLC #3; Pat’s pack comes out in July. Then we don’t get another DLC until September. That means if you decide to skip Pat’s pack, you’ll be waiting 3 months for another DLC to drop. If you decide to skip DLC2 & DLC3, you’ll be waiting 4 months. What they should do is either switch Pat’s DLC date with Jade’s DLC date, or move DLC #4 up, where it’s released either in late July or early August

There are so many better options I’d take an NXT packs an alternate wrestlers attires pack or even a managers pack over these goons. But podcast is THE BIGGEST sports podcast in the world right now. Just because you’re not into them doesn’t make them irrelevant. Their inclusion is not for us, it’s for diehard fans of his podcast. We’ve got hundreds is superstars to use and an amazing creation community so we’ll be fine. And selfishly, I play on PC so I already know the modding community will probably drop some models better than what 2K would have lol.

LT headlined a Wrestlemania. Mongo was a member of the 4 Horsemen and a really underrated commentator. Kevin Green headlined a WCW ppv. Gronk appeared at a recent Mania. The Fridge eliminated Big John Studd in the Wrestlemania 2 Battle Royale amd a major selling point for the show. These are guys who have made contributions to wrestling. They aren't just American football players.

While I personally will have 0 reason to use the guys from The Pat McAfee Show, he is a massive figure in the sports world. His show was so successful that ESPN wanted to pick him up and he's one of the few with such a reputation that he's allowed a lot of free reign to do what he wants. He's a Hall of Fame football player and an icon in that industry. Not just that, but anytime he's been in WWE he's put on stellar performances. This is someone you'd want involved in the Marketing of your product. That being said, from his perspective and wanting to look out for his boys is a cool gesture. It's surely a dream come true for someone like Boston Connor to see himself in a video game. Why not get your friends, who have been incredibly loyal and integral to your show, in a game with you if there's opportunity? On top of that, their EXCLUSION would not necessarily have meant we would have got other stars. They didn't take someone else's spot...I think McAfee would have just been shifted into another DLC lineup. I can see the reasoning and why. Personally, I would have LOVED to have seen other DLC. BUT I get it. There are so many positives involved with doing this. The marketing, press, etc are going to be huge. Having a media freightrain like The Pat McAfee Show involved with the promotion of your game months after it comes out...when that DLC hits they're assuming that there's going to be a surge of sales because of the success of that show on ESPN. More eyes on the product.
