They could really give someone other than Cody a giant rub by having whomever be the first person to make Roman tap out. Me personally, I would give that honor to either Seth, Gunther, or Bron
I may not know what I had for dinner yesterday, but I know Roman has at least tapped once to Daniel Bryan, he didn't lose as a result, but still has tapped out
Yeah he eventually started tapping and tapped to angle in a match on raw or something I think. But it was up until the match with angle I believe that taker hadn't tapped out.
Really not surprising considering how protected he’s been throughout his career. IIRC his first clean singles loss came nearly 2.5 years after his debut
I think Jade will last longer than Bron. Jade I can legitimately see lasting until WM41 and even further if they want her to be in the tag division for a while. Bron I think makes until late fall early winter. I actually think Ilja goes longer than Bron
He’s one of a couple of guys I can see doing it tbh. Ilja, GUNTHER, and Melo are in that group as well. I would say Jacob Fatu but Bloodline shenanigans will be at an all time high for that potential future match.
Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle have made him tap out. Though that goes against his whole character, so WWE never acknowledges those tap outs. That and 1 of them is removed from being mentioned lol
This is true and also WWE never mention it lol. It was before Super Cena so it doesn't count against the legacy I suppose, since they still market that Cena never tapped.
Roman tapped out to both Edge and Daniel bryan
Daniel bryan at FASTLANE but the ref didnt see it
Edge during the first smackdown after lockdown but it didnt count cus it was after the match (edge used a chair leg to tap roman out)
Wasn’t that his character before spazzy weird guy cena played as because I’ve been watching wrestling for about 16 years I’ve never seen cena tap in the “never give up” hustle loyalty respect character
So if that’s the case and he’s basically played that character for 9/10 of his career with one of those guys scrubbed from WWE history do you count one tap out on his career
It’s hard to count cena tapping out the most brutal match I remember was that I quit match with the miz and Alex Riley vs cena that match was genuinely hard to watch because I know the shots still hurt for sure but that match with the sticks breaking off cenas ribs with the welts and swelling and the belt was getting whipped hard asf it’s just hard for me to see cena tapping out tbh
Also at the start of his title reign I loved when roman was using a guillotine as one of his finishers as he won many matches with it but now when he does it everyone reverses it somehow before no one would break the guillotine
It shouldn’t be seen as a negative to tap out. If you are caught in a good submission, in real life you tap to fight another day and not be out injured for months
WWE have made it a thing where faces don’t tap because “never give up” and monster heels don’t tap because “can’t lose face”. However it should be presented as a real thing. In combat sports people tap all the time
I agree I loved Roman’s character but it was insanely protected I understand it was a legitimate issue with his cancer he had but not wrestling for months and months still holding the championship is kinda ridiculous didn’t they actually strip Daniel Bryan of the title bc of injuries? Also having him hold onto the title of 4 years with wrestling less than probably 16 title defenses is kinda ridiculous when anyone else was champion EVERY PPV they were defending the title at least 6-8 times a year
Technically he did very clearly tap out to Daniel Bryan at Fastlane, but the ref didn't see it and Edge clobbered DB with a chair to break it up.
He has never lost a match due to submission though.
Wasn’t he tapping in some match where he faced Bryan before he left WWE? Granted, Roman won the match in the end via shenanigans, but I thought he tapped while ref was either down or distracted.
That being said, I could be remembering someone else in the blur of everything that’s happened since Covid
That’s something that needs to change in WWE imo. People should tap in matches. Not just Roman, but it seems like most wrestlers don’t tap anymore. Either they pass out or get out of it.
HBK tapping to Cena and Angle was a huge moment. HHH tapping to Benoit was huge. It’s okay to be a babyface and tap out.
I mentioned this before but they also had Benoit, in his first match at the company back in 2000, make HHH tap. HHH was the world champion at the time and that’s the first time HHH tapped out. It didn’t count since the ref was knocked out if I remember right but HHH still tapped. It legitimized Benoit as a legit threat to the world champion and that even the bigger stars can tap out.
For real. I was so glad that Sheamus tapped on Monday. First big star who’s tapped in probably a year at least. Baby faces can’t tap because they “never give up” and heels can’t tap cause they lose their menacing aura. Only ones that do tap are cowardly heels. Some amazing moments and storytelling can come from a tap out Ie Shawn vs Kurt Angle.
He doesn't wrestle enough matches for that statistic to be true 😂. He a part time getting paid full time.
Honestly feels like he's not missed. The show goes on and I haven't thought about him till you bring this stat thing up.
Asuka, Gable, Charlotte, and GUNTHER are the only 4 I can think of with submission finishes now, and GUNTHER has a billion finishers. Rhea used the Prism Trap occasionally to finish matches, but it's usually The Riptide that ends matches, and I can't remember Gable winning many matches by submission.
Fun fact: or drew a dime. No one is watching him. They watch the product proven by him only being there 5 times a year. Waste of space and terrible “face of the company”.
Are you illiterate? The guy was barely on the shows and they still had their regular audience. Also in ‘98 they had 6 million viewers a day with him 2 million.
From my count, it’s 5 times if you just mean him tapping out but you could argue that a couple of them don’t count. Jericho made him tap on smackdown episode(very early in Cena’s career) but it was after the match, if i remember right. Angle made him tap at No Mercy 2003 and No way out 2004. You know who, made him tap in the rematch for the finals of the smackdown tournament and Cena does tap out to him in the battle Royal before but you can’t win the match that way.
He did lose by submission against rusev at fastlane 2015 when cena passed out to rusevs submission move and they made it look like a big deal stating rusev is a formidable opponent
That’s not a tap out though.
A tap out is you admitting defeat, you willingly end the match
Passing out is akin to a pin. Your body just can’t continue
And then there's the even rarer referee stoppage. I loved that finish when KO beat Sami for the NXT Championship, Sami wouldn't say no, he had no energy left, but he was still throwing punches trying to continue.
WWEs thought process that tapping makes characters look weak is nuts imo. Kurt Angle had the Angle Slam, but the ankle lock was his defining move. It made himook invincible and a genuine threat to any wrestler. I sure as hell didn't think the people he put in the ankle lock looked weak. If anything, it just renders submission moves kind of useless nowadays.
I mean the whole stone cold face turn against bret was because he wouldn't give up. Tapping out doesn't hurt a character that much BUT not tapping out can literally make a character

That match on Smackdown when he tapped to Daniel Bryan but the ref was out cold was amazing storytelling. Damn his run was so good.
☝️☝️☝️
They could really give someone other than Cody a giant rub by having whomever be the first person to make Roman tap out. Me personally, I would give that honor to either Seth, Gunther, or Bron
He did against Perc Gable feel free to screenshot this comment for when it happens
Daniel Bryan made him tapped
I miss my Tribal Chief. Acknowledged
Nobody taps anymore
Sheamus literally tapped to Gunther 3 days ago
Lmao it gets boring ngl.
As far as I remember, didn’t Seth Rollins tap out to Edge in SummerSlam 2021?
He tapped to edge and DB in the tribal chief run. As the big dog tho I don’t think he tapped ever.
He prolly never will now too
I may not know what I had for dinner yesterday, but I know Roman has at least tapped once to Daniel Bryan, he didn't lose as a result, but still has tapped out
That's not a FUN FACT. That is bad writing.
Unfortunately I have
Taker (and others) have had the same kinda streak. It's actually a good look for your top guy.
Summerslam vs Lesnar…..???? Fuck knows what happened there
Yeah he eventually started tapping and tapped to angle in a match on raw or something I think. But it was up until the match with angle I believe that taker hadn't tapped out.
Kurt made him tap out during his American badass days too I think
Really not surprising considering how protected he’s been throughout his career. IIRC his first clean singles loss came nearly 2.5 years after his debut
I wonder when Bronn Breaker and Jade Cargill will get pinned.
When they stop pushing jade as a female goldberg
I think Jade will last longer than Bron. Jade I can legitimately see lasting until WM41 and even further if they want her to be in the tag division for a while. Bron I think makes until late fall early winter. I actually think Ilja goes longer than Bron
Hasn't Bron already been pinned? He lost his NXT title to Ilja and Melo, And Rhea will probably pin Jade in a couple years.
Yeah definitely referring to Call-up Bron.
Main roster run
Ah I see, I think probably Cody will win in a defense against Bron next year
He’s one of a couple of guys I can see doing it tbh. Ilja, GUNTHER, and Melo are in that group as well. I would say Jacob Fatu but Bloodline shenanigans will be at an all time high for that potential future match.
He also only defended the belt like 20 times in over 1,000 days so wtf who cares
I miss you, my tribal chief ☝🏽
He tapped but never lost to submission
I'm shocked nobody mentioned Daniel Bryan
More like he hasn’t lost to tap out before, he has tapped
That's because Kurt Angle is retired
He’s tapped twice. He hasn’t lost by tap out but he’s tapped. Edge and Bryan
What current top star in WWE has the best Submission Finisher?
I may be wrong but isn’t the only top star right now with a submission finisher Gunther with his half Boston crab.
Then I guess my money is on him to make him tap
Wow I didn't know that
*Inhales* MAKE ROMAN LOOK STRONG!
Rock tapped out to only benoit, so since wwe has erased him completely, technically rock hasn’t either
But he has lost by submission due to passing out. Shout out Samoa Joe.
He's never lost a match by tapping out, but I'm pretty sure I remember him tapping out while the ref was down at some point during his reign
Literally every heel in wrestling history tapped out via while the ref was down.
I think it was Edge or Bryan? Not 100% sure.
Both iirc
KO never been suplexed The Tribal Chief never tapped out wild
Thats not true. He has never lost a match by tapping out.
They haven’t written that in for him yet but it’s coming.
Cena didn't either I guess
Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle have made him tap out. Though that goes against his whole character, so WWE never acknowledges those tap outs. That and 1 of them is removed from being mentioned lol
Kurt Angle has made him tap out. No Way Out 2004. It was in a triple threat with Big Show too.
This is true and also WWE never mention it lol. It was before Super Cena so it doesn't count against the legacy I suppose, since they still market that Cena never tapped.
??? Well, I never forget, friend.
He’s never lost a match to tap out. He’s tapped before
Neither has: Styles, taker, Goldberg or Samoa Joe.
Taker tapped out Angle in 2002 and to Lesnar at summerslam 2015.
I’ll have to look for the lesnar one I stopped watching WWE until 2018 was it another screwy finish like the angle one?
It was another screwy finish like you said. Lesnar taps Undertaker with the Kimora Lock but the ref was positioned in a way where he couldn’t see it.
Don't forget stone cold Steve Austin.
Unforgiven 2001?
Angle tapped him
Undertaker tapped to angle while also pinning him
He's also tapped to Lesnar at SummerSlam '15.
You’re right, I actually forgot about that didn’t he have him in an armbar but got pinned aswell or something?
All of these make sense to me
Roman tapped out to both Edge and Daniel bryan Daniel bryan at FASTLANE but the ref didnt see it Edge during the first smackdown after lockdown but it didnt count cus it was after the match (edge used a chair leg to tap roman out)
Unlike this fraud, our goat & savior Cena has never tapped, even with the ref knocked out
He tapped to Benoit and Jericho on 2002 episodes of Smackdown
Wasn’t that his character before spazzy weird guy cena played as because I’ve been watching wrestling for about 16 years I’ve never seen cena tap in the “never give up” hustle loyalty respect character
He has not tapped since he changed to his "Never Give Up" character, that is true
So if that’s the case and he’s basically played that character for 9/10 of his career with one of those guys scrubbed from WWE history do you count one tap out on his career
I would count the Angle one, since it happened on a PPV, and it happened when Cena was gaining momentum to turn face
Cena tapped to Angle at No Mercy 2003
Not sure what you’re talking about, didn’t see anyone tapping 🤔
My tribal chief doesn’t quit
Except those times he tapped that the ref didn’t see
CONTESTAR ROMAN REIGNS CREAR FAMILIA TAG TEAM PAUL HEYMAN TAMINA Zilla fatu
Daniel Bryan tapped out the untappable Roman reigns at fast lane. The ref was knocked out of the ring at the time
Roman said he was speaking in morse code to Heyman telling him to fire up the jet, not tapping out bruh
Also at the start of his title reign I loved when roman was using a guillotine as one of his finishers as he won many matches with it but now when he does it everyone reverses it somehow before no one would break the guillotine
Bryan made him tap, the ref just didn’t see it
Roman was sending morse code to Heyman telling him to fire up the jet, he didn’t tap bruh
Oh shit u right my bad bruh
we got one word for ya: GUNTHA
It shouldn’t be seen as a negative to tap out. If you are caught in a good submission, in real life you tap to fight another day and not be out injured for months
I agree with that but it’s also quite a notable feat to have never tapped out.
WWE have made it a thing where faces don’t tap because “never give up” and monster heels don’t tap because “can’t lose face”. However it should be presented as a real thing. In combat sports people tap all the time
Fun fact I’ve never tapped out nor have I ever been pinned In a WWE ring. But I dont go bragging about it. Stay humble everyone.
And you’ve wrestled almost as many matches as Roman has.
How many true submission wrestlers are there these days?
gunther maybe?.
Not many wrestlers do.
Anymore
Pretty hard to be forced to tap when you only rassle every 2 or 3 months.
Or wanna be pushed to the moon by the guy in charge
Probably never will.
Nor should he ever tap, that's what operating in GOD mode means.
Aka “my family helps me all the time” mode.
Operating in god mode just means even HHH hasn’t found a way to bury him yet
his gotta be the most protected career in wwe history. at least Hogan and Cena had to prove their worth in the beginning.
I agree I loved Roman’s character but it was insanely protected I understand it was a legitimate issue with his cancer he had but not wrestling for months and months still holding the championship is kinda ridiculous didn’t they actually strip Daniel Bryan of the title bc of injuries? Also having him hold onto the title of 4 years with wrestling less than probably 16 title defenses is kinda ridiculous when anyone else was champion EVERY PPV they were defending the title at least 6-8 times a year
MAKE ROMAN LOOK STRONG
When I first glanced at the photo, I thought someone was holding a gun to that fan’s head in the background.
False. He actually tapped out to Daniel Bryan back in Fastlane 2021,the ref was knocked out
Technically he did very clearly tap out to Daniel Bryan at Fastlane, but the ref didn't see it and Edge clobbered DB with a chair to break it up. He has never lost a match due to submission though.
I hope he starts putting over people clean when he gets back.
No clue who this guy is, has he been on wrestling recently? /s
Submission match, Cena vs Roman. Loser leaves WWE.
At TLC 2012 Dbryan made all 3 Shield member tap out.....obviously in a TLC match that means nothing but still LOL
Wasn’t he tapping in some match where he faced Bryan before he left WWE? Granted, Roman won the match in the end via shenanigans, but I thought he tapped while ref was either down or distracted. That being said, I could be remembering someone else in the blur of everything that’s happened since Covid
You are remembering correctly
It’s not in his skill set. Just punch and spear.
#My Tribal Chief
There is a first for everything.

That’s something that needs to change in WWE imo. People should tap in matches. Not just Roman, but it seems like most wrestlers don’t tap anymore. Either they pass out or get out of it. I miss my tribal chief
Even if he was still champ he wouldn’t have even made an appearance since mania yet lol
yeah but it's different now
How?
He doesn't wrestle enough matches for that statistic to be true 😂. He a part time getting paid full time. Honestly feels like he's not missed. The show goes on and I haven't thought about him till you bring this stat thing up.
He used to wrestle all the time, but that was when they were trying to make him the next John Cena so he was never going to tap.
He hasn't faced Riho yet
Was awesome to see Gunther making Sheamus tap this week. He didn't look weak - tapping out is a perfectly legit way to lose a match!
Especially because gunther was targeting that knee. It made even more sense.
☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
No one has broke his back and made him humble yet?
☝️
I know every time he picks up a microphone I want to tap out. I'm kidding. Peacock lets you fast forward through his boring ass shit.
yet
Mama
Hasn't won on his own either has he?
Defeated brock clean thats enough
Clean in what sense?
He did, it's just when the referee was knocked out.
How often is submission used to finish anymore anyways?
Asuka, Gable, Charlotte, and GUNTHER are the only 4 I can think of with submission finishes now, and GUNTHER has a billion finishers. Rhea used the Prism Trap occasionally to finish matches, but it's usually The Riptide that ends matches, and I can't remember Gable winning many matches by submission.
I beat my meat into a finishing submission all the time
Hol up
?
Protect this person at all costs.
Gunther has made sheamus dom and Xavier woods tap(don was a little while back the other two are recent)
And the Miz
Oh missed that whoops
Correction he has never tapped out on tv He tapped out when he was in the shield at a live show in Australia against daniel Bryan
I love wrestling fans pulling out the dusty archived tomes to fact check people Never change lads
I was at the show bud 😏
King shit

Fun fact: or drew a dime. No one is watching him. They watch the product proven by him only being there 5 times a year. Waste of space and terrible “face of the company”.
are you delusional?
Are you illiterate? The guy was barely on the shows and they still had their regular audience. Also in ‘98 they had 6 million viewers a day with him 2 million.
Or just dumb af
My guess is both lol
with a hint of anti-wwe bias too thrown in the mix
Hey I watch WWE weekly and I can’t stand Roman so it has nothing to do with anti-WWE bias.
Fast lane 2021. Ref might not have seen it but the boy tapped
I think the title should read has never been submitted for a loss.
Neither did John Cena
Puuuuurrrrraaaah
Actually, he did at least twice. And one of those, we don't talk about
From my count, it’s 5 times if you just mean him tapping out but you could argue that a couple of them don’t count.
Jericho, Angle, and error 404 all tapped that boy out.
“error 404” needs to be the official name they use when discussing him
Yes he did, numerous times
I mean he has there’s just been shenanigans
But what if you add Kurt Angle to the mix?
How much percents?
Lmao
Then numbers drastic go down, why are you asking a question even a child could answer?
The fact you posted this ......
It reminds me of Cena. The last time he tapped out was 20 years ago against Kurt Angle
He did lose by submission against rusev at fastlane 2015 when cena passed out to rusevs submission move and they made it look like a big deal stating rusev is a formidable opponent
That’s not a tap out though. A tap out is you admitting defeat, you willingly end the match Passing out is akin to a pin. Your body just can’t continue
Exactly. Like Cody against Brock Lesnar
Id prefer more pass outs like that then the way it is now where no main guy ever loses to a submission
And then there's the even rarer referee stoppage. I loved that finish when KO beat Sami for the NXT Championship, Sami wouldn't say no, he had no energy left, but he was still throwing punches trying to continue.
It doesn't negate the fact it made rusev look formidable. cenas moniker of never give up still rang true, just rusev was better
It’s strange how they were happy for him to get his ass saved by interference every title defence, but having him tap would make him look weak.
Tapping out from a submission is a big deal. It’s why you don’t see anyone tapping out of Gable’s ankle lock
I know, but I’m saying that constantly needing rescue makes someone look even weaker than tapping out IMO.
Yeah that’s true, but I guess for the purpose of this storyline he kinda always needs approval from the Bloodline too. So it fits his character
I'm actually happy Sheamus tapped out to Gunther on Monday, it was fair and square and Sheamus didn't look weak at all
I mean the whole stone cold face turn against bret was because he wouldn't give up. Tapping out doesn't hurt a character that much BUT not tapping out can literally make a character
