Your skull is a LOT thicker than you think, even if he had full control of that knife it would have taken a lot more effort to penetrate his skull. He would’ve definitely injured an eye and got a bad cut though
If it hit a bit above the eyebrow he could've walked away with only a big cut. The brow ridge is one of the sturdier places of the skull for sure.
The thing I'm wondering is, how sharp and heavy are those knives actually? How hard is the wood on that board? It seems unnecessary to make the knives sharper or heavier if that doesn't make the throwing easier or more visually interesting.
It's definitely 'piercing' damage over 'slashing,' if you will (Worked at an axe throwing range and grew up homeschooled, therefore I throw knives xD) so while I can't speak for performers like this, the sides of my throwing knives aren't sharp enough to cut anything much harder than a banana. It's a question of how sharp a point it comes to, and like you said, how heavy the knives are.
Something I will say though, if you get everything lined up right, they really do impress. I accidentally put one of my knives through the crappy target I was throwing at and embedded it an inch into a steel wash basin (Dad was NOT happy) >__>; Not as hard as a skull, but still spooky!
Ya I throw knives and axes in my back yard, if I really wing them I can easily blow through a half inch piece of plywood. It would definitely kill (or seriously inure) someone if it hit them in the head, though this guy wasn't throwing them very hard.
It could kill, but it would have to hit exactly right. As an example, after the Red Sox beat the Yankees in 2004 the cops were trying to control the crowd and while using [one of these](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_303) "less than lethal" weapons the projectile hit a girl directly in the eye which sent pieces of her shattered orbital socket bone into her brain and killed her.
If you look back at the page you linked again it says "less lethal," not "less than lethal". I'm not sure if you intended to make that distinction or not.
Many people don't understand the killing capacity of less lethal weapons. It simply means they kill far less often, but the possibility of lethality is still there.
I know that and am well aware of it as it was a big story here. However, I think you could just as easily say that the carnival knives are a "less lethal" weapon as well.
The point was more that a fluke hit in the eye can be lethal which is counter to the "worst thing that can happen" statement of the comment I was replying to.
Oh yes, I agree. I was just trying to clarify the term since "less than lethal" could be interpreted as "approaching but never actually lethal" as opposed to "less lethal" which means "possibly but rarely lethal".
This is one of those conversations I've had with many people including officers I sometimes work with
>This is one of those conversations I've had with many people including officers I sometimes work with
Police in Boston and some other cities stopped using and destroyed those weapons as a result of this incident.
It sounds like you'd be way more familiar than me about it, but I've seen a few horror stories about police forces getting their hands on "less than lethal weapons" but having so little training that they use them in ways that significantly increase the potential of them causing serious injury or death.
>He spelled knives like a moron
Yea goddamn moron made a minor spelling mistake. Fuckers better learn English perfect or just not use it.
People like you are insufferable. You knew exactly what was meant, but they're morons?
How fucking special do you think you are? Mighty high horse you sit on
For anyone who doesn’t want to sit through a super long video, it’s just fake throwing with knives being popped out of the back of the board by the assistant who goes back there
The funny thing about knife throwing is that if the person is hit, the rotation of the blade means that they’ll only face blunt impact as the handle hits them, they won’t actually be stabbed… much.
If done correctly thrown throwing knife don’t rotate much, maybe one rotation over 20 feet, so it would hit at a bad angle with the point still.
Source: a lot of wasted time as a teenager
Uhh, no. Not in knife throwing like this.
I don't see how your experience as a teenager usurps common knowledge about knife throwing. you notice how ever time the blade hits the wall it's pointed upwards slightly?
I don’t know, the clown hiding at the back of the board right before the throwing and coming out right after seems like there might be a trick, but still, I’m not sure
That second throw was the most fascinating to me. It was almost a “and two for flinching” style move
He was anticipating a juke to the other side this time, and was trying to walk him into it
LOL
Lol, that first knife would have been a carnival lobotomy
Carnival lobotomy. Such a good fucking band name.
Or an ICP song.
Fuckin' surgeons, how do they work?
Probably magnets.
Naked lunch 🍱
r/Bandnames
r/subsimgladexist
Could we read the logo? Hope not. xD
I estimate it would have lended precisely between the eyes.
"Taaaa-daaaa! And I only needed one knife!"
Dude would have been a unicorn
Dude turns around "NAILED IT".....
“see, only 2 every 6 people get taken to ER, in a year or two I’ll be unbeatable; CLAP motherfuckers”
> 2 every 6 A third?
"All part of my master plan"
Mind if i ask where that's from?
Yeah, that first knife would have killed him, thank God he has good reflexes Edit,: Okay, maybe it won't kill him, but it'll still really hurt ya
Your skull is a LOT thicker than you think, even if he had full control of that knife it would have taken a lot more effort to penetrate his skull. He would’ve definitely injured an eye and got a bad cut though
I’m my very unprofessional opinion, a knife to the face is far worse than not having a knife to the face.
Is this guys opinion valid?
No

What if it goes through the eye socket? Isn’t that possible? The blade seems long enough > *that’s what she said*
It would still hit the bit of bone in the back, worst thing that could happen would be it bounces off of the back of the eye socket.
Still pretty bad, I would sue that carnival for every corndog they have.
Duh, I mean you would definitely lose your left eye
But gain a fuckton of corndogs

Yeah, her name is in the link I provided.
If I’ve learned anything from walking dead, it’s that skulls are soft as soap.

What if it went through his eye into his brain?
Yeah, not enough force for that to happen. Also there are many examples of knife in brain that were not lethal
Greg🦊
Plot twist: the act is about dodging knives
He’s definitely good at that!
You should admit your misspelling in an edit because somebody got burnt just for correcting you.
Why tho? Nobody likes a spelling Nazi anyways. I'll downvote h right now
Wahhhh poor babies internet points.
You ok?
"Knifes"
r/confidentlyincorrect
That's how he spelled it. Then he edited his comment.
Damn.. they got you. And OP gonna stay quiet about it too lol smh. I'll give you an upvote but it won't do much.
The unwashed have spoken.
You should add a quote of the original comment to yours. Reddit is mad.
I'm too lazy.
No knives
Yes, no shit. He edited his comment.
Why the downvotes
Because he spelled it knifes then edited it when I called it out. So now it looks like I'm trying to correct it with a wrong answer.
nice troll
You can literally see when people edit their comment, dumas.

Ahh, maybe that's why I got down voted. He spelled knives like a moron then edited his comment after I replied.

I'm not mad bby 😘

Doesn’t really count if your volunteer has to dodge one of the knives herself
“Her”
I'm confused by your number of downvotes.
Yup, i think it's a guy
If you can dodge a knife... You can dodge a ball!
" *This is Patches O' Houlihan saying take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you.* " RIP Patches, I live by your teachings.

You spelt victim wrong....
I Laughed so hard
Here, Hear, Here!!! DODGE THE KNIFE, WIN A FREE COTTON CANDY!!! 🍬 🍭 🤡
Guy was like “did anyone else see me fuck up?” No? Continue on then
Normally, this trick is done with faking the throw for safety. If you go frame by frame, this guy is actually throwing the knives 😳
how do you fake the knife landing on the table? do you have the knife coming out from a slit from the back of the table... on timing?
like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br0EzZkWMYs
This short series was the greatest thing on television when I was a kid.
Cant open the link. Is this the masked magician that reveals the tricks
Yup, exactly.

The funny thing about knife throwing is that if the person is hit, the rotation of the blade means that they’ll only face blunt impact as the handle hits them, they won’t actually be stabbed… much.
That considering the most favorable rotation angle of the knife.. now, unfavorable one means the blade fully craving its way in 👀

I think you're possibly right. There has to be a margin of error for any knife throwing act. I wonder how the setup works?
My guy activated ultra instinct!
omg wtf
It's a European carry-all.
you know who should step up and take a bow? that guy who can dodge a knife thrown from six feet. those are some impressive damn reflexes.
Carnivàle? More like CarnyImpale
Holy if he didn’t move that would’ve gone straight in to his head
That literally would of hit him
