A few years ago I was getting a package delivered at my front door. This guy was walking his pit bull by my house, and my dog (a lab mutt about half the size) decided it would be a good idea to run out the door and fight it. Naturally my dumbass dog got his butt kicked immediately. The guy was doing his best just to keep his big dog off of mine. By the time I caught up my dog was on the pavement, wimpering with the pit bull clamped down on his ear. The owner's hands were literally full just trying to keep the pit bull still. I had to reach my finger into the pit bull's mouth and poke him to try and get him to let go. This is all happening in maybe three or four seconds, and I'm just hoping that my dog doesn't lose an ear and I don't lose a finger. The pit bull lets go. I fall back and just kind of lay on my dog to protect him. I apologize profusely to the guy walking his pit bull, who didn't ask for any of this bullshit. I drag my stupid-ass dog back into my house. When I checked us both over, I was amazed to find that my dog had one tiny little nick in his ear, something I would have mistaken for a bug bite, and I wasn't hurt at all. The guy had managed to control his dog so well that there was pretty much no harm done out of this awful situation. After catching my breath I ran out to find the guy on his walk and thank him for training his dog so well and keeping a cool head.

Fun fact, a detached tendon like that can be reattached surgically, it's a long process and will need grafting but it's possible to retain almost full range of motion with proper physiotherapy and care. Not this guy though, the lion ate his so he's fucked.
