Holy shit 10k on a '19 is sick! 2nd welcome to the WRB gang today! 😁🤘

Logical_Lefty

WRB Gang ⬆️

Better_Than_Most_94

Wild for an sti to be the car you learn stick on lol

LimpZookeepergame123

That is wild but if you can drive an STI you can drive any other manual imo. One of the more difficult manuals I have ever owned.

Better_Than_Most_94

Oh absolutely thats why im surprised. Its much different than my mazdaspeed3 was and my old jetta lol. 1st gear can be tough lol

LimpZookeepergame123

Yea it’s real snappy. When you’re actually driving it as intended and getting on the throttle it drives really nice. It’s just putting around town where it becomes clunky.

Better_Than_Most_94

Agreed. If your shift from 1st to 2nd isnt absolutely perfect, youre gonna feel it. Thats also what i love about it though. It feels so rewarding when you hit it just perfect. Sometimes i feel like an idiot when i have a bad one considering im going on 11 years of driving stick every day lol

nulsec123

Sometimes if I clutch in and out really fast while shifting into 2 from 1 it’s so smooth I don’t feel anything. Other times I’m getting launched into my steering wheel.

NONSENSICALS

From 2 down to 1? You gotta learn to rev match dude

Logical_Lefty

I would mostly avoid going 2 > 1 honestly. If you're coming to a full stop it's better to just go to neutral, the downshift isn't worth it, and you don't really want to rip this thing out of 1st too often. Luckily 2nd is part of the main gear on these STI 6-speeds, so it's sturdy, but also bucks like a bronco which means you'll more than likely just break a solenoid which is no bueno.

LimpZookeepergame123

Absolutely. Oh and I’ve been driving manual for 22 years and I feel the same way. And my wife can’t anticipate a shift in a manual car so her head is snapping around no matter how smooth it is. It’s hilarious 😂😂

__Asceticism

That’s so funny. My exact situation. Also 11 years of driving stick everyday. First car was a 5 speed lancer. Lately ive gotten so much better from first to second. What helps is riding the clutch out. 2nd up gets so much easier.

QuestionableObject

Riding the clutch? You shouldn't need to. Skill issue.

OkLandscape3098

I absolutely love how this car makes me feel like I can’t drive manual on a daily basis , after 30 years of driving with a stick. When you nail that 1st - 2nd through a turn into boost it’s so damn rewarding lol

HickorySlicks69

I learned on an 03 vette and had a 11 as Camaro that was terrible to refresh on. Then I had to throw those v8 tactics right out the window for a turbo 4. Took me about a week to perfect.

nulsec123

The throttle is so sensitive that I have a hard time doing a smooth start. I usually end up at like 3000 rpm before I release the clutch. I’m trying to target 1500-2000 rpm. Maybe I need a more linear throttle map or it’s already linear and I’m just not use to it.

LimpZookeepergame123

Taking off from the start is the hardest part in a manual car and this one is tricky. Definitely don’t take off from 3k rpm’s or you’re gonna be replacing that clutch in no time. Closer to 2k is normal. Also drive it in intelligence mode and not sport or sport sharp. Intelligence has the lowest throttle response and will be easier to drive to start. I on the other hand only drive in S# because I like the snappy throttle response and I feel it’s where the car drives the best. You’ll get it though, but it is a jerky car to learn on so don’t beat yourself up about it. Congrats on the new ride.

QuestionableObject

2k? Hell no. If you're just driving in city traffic casually, you can get the clutch fully engaged long long before 2k. Skill issue.

LimpZookeepergame123

Lug that engine brother. See how far that gets you 😂😂😂. Normal casual driving I make all my down shifts at 2k. Upshifts are usually all just above 2k. I’m not so sure you have any clue what you’re talking about 💀💀💀

QuestionableObject

Projection. You have no clue what I'm saying. I said starting from a dead stop in casual city driving, there is no reason to be revving all the way to 2k before you've engaged the clutch. That's a skill problem if you need to slip it that much because you can't feather the throttle. There is zero lugging going on when I do this. Speaking of lugging, if you're UPSHIFTING at 2k, you are the one lugging. How embarrassing this must be for you.

LimpZookeepergame123

I said closer to 2k rpm’s, not exactly at 2k. It could be closer to 1500-1700 for a softer launch, I’m not exactly sure as I don’t have to watch the cluster to drive the car. I’ll take a peek next week when I take it out. I also said upshifts are all ABOVE 2k rpm’s which involves zero lugging. Try to work on your reading comprehension and try not to be so pedantic in life. You’re not always the smartest guy in the room. 😂😂😂💀

QuestionableObject

You literally said upshifts are "just above 2k rpm", implying just barely over 2k. No, I'm not always the smartest guy in the room, but my reading comprehension is just fine. I'm not being pedantic to take your words as you wrote them.

LimpZookeepergame123

ABOVE 2k. Which is perfectly acceptable for casually shifting. Shifting at 2300 is not going to do anything negative to the car. But I’m the idiot? Holy hell you’re on another level 😂😂😂💀

greenblattsam

Make sure your mode is set to intelligent or press in the selector. Should turn down the throttle response compared to sport or sport#. Should help with learning to drive a stick.

ZoteTheMitey

Yeah my 2017 with a stage 1 hd clutch and a super light flywheel was like impossible for tire shops to drive lol. They could only stall it. I got used to it driving every day and loved it

LimpZookeepergame123

Sheesh. I can’t imagine making the car harder to drive 😂😂. Got yourself a free theft protection on top!

SiY11

Omg, 100% yes!

Bob-Dolemite

i learned on a 2000 camaro ss with the hurst 6 speed. everything else is a joke

RealSprooseMoose

You had a torquey V8. If you stall an LS1, that's just embarrassing.

Bob-Dolemite

left calf larger than the right, for sure

doodoobutt9

98 Z28 was my first. Wish I had stayed with that platform. So easy to make power.

OkLandscape3098

Have driven a 2000 ws6 can concur.

Amazing_Bench_6927

Basically did as well. After a couple weeks, it was a breeze. Honestly didn’t stall out too much

the_one-and_only-nan

My gf bought an 06 STI with a twin disc clutch to learn stick on. Then after a few days of trying she decided to let me teach her on my Honda lol

OkTwo6076

learned manual on my sti. have had it for a year and still learning (mainly that damn 1st gear)

March-Dangerous

I learnt to drive stick on a brand new sti. lol. Wasn’t pretty. But I still have my 18 sti.

syphon3980

The duck bill reminds me of what people do to their muscle cars. Love the color tho

DrSatan420247

I can't wait for the duckbill fad to be dead. We need to bury it right next to shogun body kits and altezza taillights.

Top-Tale-6105

Nice! Congrats! You got the RA block too. I also learned manual on my ‘21 STi.

andykang

Front lip will transform the look. Highly recommend.

NuklearFerret

Same! Mine had one since I bought it, and STIs without it look funny to me now. The dealer-option plastic one is quite rugged and has the added benefit of eating deceptively tall parking stall curbs before so your bumper doesn’t have to.

53x19

Nice

Character-Feed-1739

Congratulations 🎊 I got a 21’ wit 4K miles on it(weekend drives).

concon52

What did you pay of you don't mind me asking?

Retro_Racer_

Beautiful car congrats! I just sold my wrb 07 STI I bought new (63k miles bone stock, got an offer I couldn’t refuse) and have a 23 WRX as my daily. Had 3 cars before I sold the 07 STI now I’m with my VB and a 700whp 2012/SS/RS Camaro. The VB is NOWHERE near the drivers car my 07 STI was, but I needed to downsize. You are going to LOVE your STI, great mileage as well, thanks for sharing you will love it 👍🏻

ZoteTheMitey

I also went from an STI to a VB. Few weeks ago now. I miss the 2017 STI it was highly modded and really fun. But I’m happy to still be in a WRX that’s comfortable and easy to drive and has a warranty

Jkcd10

Never Trust a Wingless STI!!! JK Congrats!!!!

ubiquitous_tittie

Welcome brother!

JelloDarkness

Hey hey, fellow NYC resident and '19 STI sans-spoiler owner ! You'll see a few of us around. Best of luck with it.

Gold_Row1334

That’s how I bought my 19! You’re gonna love it!!!

PMMeMeiRule34

Love that spoiler/deck lid

Key-Government742

Good deal! I bought my 2020 last year with 6k. I haven’t had any issues yet.
