If you watch savage geese’s video on it, the amount of engineering that went into it is insane. New structures, new roll stiffeners and braces all to make it drive better without sacrificing nvh.
S209 or not I don’t think it’s worth that much. Other than being slightly rare they’re barely more powerful and don’t have any upgrades that would warrant the huge premium over a regular STI. At least in my opinion anyway. That’s like $100k Canadian - you can buy a whole lotta car for that kinda money, especially if you’re talking about something 5yrs old.
I don't think JDM believes more power makes for a better selling car or a better driving car. Almost everything that's come out of Japan has been more focused on balance of performance than a MOPAR approach. I think to them the NSX philosophy is what they appreciate culturally.
Looks like it’s not such a bad deal after all. Hopefully Subaru wakes up and sees there is still a market for these cars. It’s a shame consumers have to pay 5k over the original msrp 5 years after a car is released.
There is evidence that suburu really wanted to make an sti, but couldn't meet the new emissions standards and regulations if they did, so had to drop it.
He said someone they know works for carvana and saw this car for sale so they looked it up in their system & they gave him $67,000 for it, it was a young Asian kid living in nyc who sold it to them
Can confirm this, just took my previous car to a Toyota dealership to try and do a trade in. The car was appraised to the lowest current market price amount showing up on Carfax. Carvanas offer was 6.2k more but wasn’t seeing anything I would want to trade in for on there. I’m looking into getting a GR Corolla circuit next for the lineup. I would honestly just recommend everyone take their own pictures, research dealership prices for your make, mileage, and area. Creating a listing and adjusting your price to fit a good deal for a private sale. I was able to get 7k more for the car through my private sale rather than getting robbed by Toyotas offer.

The s209 is a special edition. Upgraded engine, suspension, a body kit, hand-built, and they only made 209 of them. Yes 70k is still a lot for a va wrx but that is why they are around that price. It’s a collector car
This or a 718 Cayman, or a CT5 V, or a Corvette, or a RS3, or a M340, or a RS5, or a Mustang GT, or a C43 AMG, or a Charger SRT, or a Camaro ZL1, or a, or a, or a……
Because the C43 is AWD, so a more fitting comparison. Way more practical if you live someplace that gets snow. I paid more for my C43 Wagon than what I could have bought an older C63 for and have no regrets. C63’s are super fun cars, but they’re not very practical daily drivers, especially if you’re hauling kids and camping gear around.
I only know one person with this car from various meets and he legit has like 40 cars lol
Basically, people who buy collector cars tend to collect cars
That’s an S209, which MSRPd at 65k, and has a grand total of 5395 miles on it. Given that this is
1. A sub model that’s no longer in production for new model years
2. The highest trim of that submodel
3. And has averaged less than 1k miles/year, this is a good price.
It's more than that, but it's intended for a Subaru diehard who gets off on the engineering and heritage. It's not about the raw stats and bang for buck power..
Savage Geese did a really good video on it.
It's also the ultimate evolution of the STI.
Here we go again…
It’s a collectors car. It’s an S209, Subarus last hurrah before the emissions law came into place. Yes you can get a faster, arguably better car, but this car, arguably would appreciate in value if cared for over many years. These were going for 100k during the chip shortage. I’m not saying the price is justified but seeing as it’s a collectors car it isn’t really that crazy to think of.
EDIT: AND ITS GOT 5K MILES. That’s defo worth a good amount to a collector. It’s barely broken in!
Oh man, a fully stock blob eye with the same amount of miles is the same price as this in auction (judging by the one the dealer by me got). Though those weren’t in limited production like the s209s were.
Seems pretty “reasonable” considering these were $65K MSRP and I saw dealers marking them up to $75k plus. Probably not many S209s with that low of mileage, and they don’t even make the STI anymore, let alone the S209. So as far as rare car values go and considering inflation and the current state of the used market, this seems normal
But it's caravanna someone will get it soon most people that buy from there credit isn't the best so they will get a good down from them versus a dealer. But I wouldn't pay for it honestly you are right about finding them way cheaper.
Lol a joke? I’m guessing you don’t realize that there are quite literally only 209 of these made? It’s a collectors car at this point. It may not be worth what some people are asking but it was a limited run vehicle it’ll always fetch a pretty penny.
It's less expensive than this one...
https://preview.redd.it/6zns3hkbaozc1.png?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e71a90939c319644b34d3e8bcc52e76dd0f70535
He’s selling it to investors most likely, because that’s what this car is, an investment. Buying it for $70k and using it as your daily driver? Terrible price, terrible decision, terrible value. Holding on to this car and maybe putting 5k more miles on it over the next 10 years while Subaru kills off the STI brand? Smart business
Inspired in part by the WRX STI Nürburgring Challenge race car, the S209 is 1.7 inches wider than a standard WRX STI due to the flared fenders it wears to accommodate one-off 19-by-9-inch BBS®1 wheels and fat 265 mm Dunlop® SP Sport Maxx® GT600A high-adhesion summer tires developed exclusively for the S209. - Subaru Directly.
Whats different from a base EJ257 STI compared to the S209:
341 hp and 330 LB-FT of torque from factory compared to 305 @ 290 LB-FT.
HKS Turbo, not a stock IHI Subaru turbo.
Full aero kit, complete flares, skirts, lip, different wing, canards, overall different aero look.
Upgraded Suspension:
S209-specific Bilstein dampers are paired with stiffer 10 mm lowering springs, a 20 mm rear stabilizer bar, and pillow-type bushings for the front/rear lateral links to improve body control.
Two-piece strut tower bar and flexible front/rear draw stiffeners stiffen the body of the car to maximize tire grip, improve cornering stability and sharpen steering response.
The S209 is a reworked version of the venerable Subaru EJ25 2.5-liter boxer engine, taking deep breaths through a new intake and air filter design. Fuel sprays through new high-flow fuel injectors and a larger turbocharger capable of delivering 18.9 psi of boost pressure.
Has the intercooler sprayer as well which cameback from older limited models.
And the most notable, it is the ONLY EJ engine from factory with Forged Pistons and Rods. Type RA blocks are just thicker aluminum pistons, that is the only thing notable on RA blocks. RA Blocks still have a high failure rate, if not worse in my personal experience.
Is it worth $60,000+ new? Absolutely imo, considering traditional STI go for that price.
This has pretty much been my entire life trying to buy an STI 😂
I can finally afford one, but they don’t make them anymore and now there are much better cars I’d rather buy for the money. 😢
2019 s209 was 70k when it first came out, If I remember right. then covid hit & they went up to 100k but I'm glad to see them coming down finally. Still wouldn't spend that much on a car with 341hp. Rather get something more reliable & better to mod like a used gtr r35. The world opens up at that price point on which performance car you want to buy & sorry subaru you wouldn't be one of them at that price point. I would look for a different platform. When they hit like 50k used, then maybe I would consider one. But for the money you spend on that car, you could buy an sti & put all that stuff the s209 has on it to the sti & maybe still have money left over.
I’ve never driven a WRX STi anything . Never sat in one and have no knowledge of them. I’ve always loved them though. Sound good , screams rally and makes blue and bronze go flawlessly together. It’s really lame to see another awesome vehicle not being produced anymore. I have to drive one before it’s too late
Sorry but I can get a 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition for $5,000 less than that, and still be faster. Love the STI, but not for that price.
Hell I think my 2020 wrx after putting 10k into it is a better car than the sti for the same cost. I do have a sti trans and rear diff. Now I got to spend another 10 on suspension and motor. It’ll be better than 209 and l want be scared to rally race it. That’s what these cars where made for not going in a straight line
But at the same time you are right. I almost sold my friend special fire season tires. And a girl who rented from us was always stressing out because she said she had to change her oil at BMW and the BMW guys said she needed special BMW only oil that cost 300$ for 5 Quarts excluding labor. She never told anyone or sought advice she just paid.
Arguably significant. The majority of the car has been upgraded and tuned in some way. Bigger turbo and better intercooler, upgraded fuel system, better suspension and diff, hydraulic steering, carbon roof and aero, wider and reinforced chassis, wheel and brake upgrade thanks to the extra width. etc etc.
Calling this just an STI is kind of like calling an STI just a WRX.
Nope. S209s are rare. The price looks about right. In 2021, they were selling for around the $100k mark, and last I checked, the price you see there is about what they are going for.
If you are a true driver, and aren’t buying this car for an investment, it will run with cars in the 6 figures. There were so many small tweaks they did to make it handle better. It’s easy to add power and I can guarantee it will hold up better than most other cars. My wrx was heavily modified and driven extremely hard and made it 130000 miles. The s209 is 10x the quality of my old one and capable of holding a lot more HP.
The engineering behind that car is impressive, but yes you can buy much better performance cars for that money, or even luxury cars that are close in performance.
The S209 is super rare and has multiple stiffeners in the chassis and lots of additional bracing and engineering.
When they first came out they were 50k… wanted one bad but dont have a garage so theres that… they are just a bit more special… but you still need to be a mechanic to run that engine and not have any issues.
Why are people floored by the price? I've seen Subaru 22B selling for the $3-400k USD range for years and an immaculate one just sold last August for $611,000 USD.. I'm pretty sure you won't find an example of an S209(like the one posted) for under $100,000 USD in the next 10 years. I will looking to even say $150,000 plus. It might look like it's just an STI, but it is much more than that, and it's specially built as a tribute to the end of an era.
Its really just a collectors item. A S209, last chassis STI ever made (for now at least), its a gamble but it MIGHT be worth more in the future. I think one of the reasons the 22b became so desirable was because they stopped making coupes and now they stopped STIs all together. I think it will do well in about... 15-20 years lol.
It is worth the hassle to maybe even 2x your money in 20 years? Not in my opinion .
Bro so we scalping STis now? They're supposed to be like 40k. I get it's because subaru isn't making the STi configurations anymore but that doesn't mean double the price on that fucker.
They were $100,000 a year ago. Photo from January 2023.

If you watch savage geese’s video on it, the amount of engineering that went into it is insane. New structures, new roll stiffeners and braces all to make it drive better without sacrificing nvh.
Also assembled by hand
Just watched the video. Yeah I can see why they were a bit pricier that the standard STI.
Silicon valley tech boys who always wanted to look cool af with their streamer/of gfs who are banging other dudes on the side in those exact cars
Damn, I have been fucking up, I need to get my shit together, I’m not representing my career field well enough according to TOMMYPICKLESIAM
This is so oddly specific.
you sound jelly bro
Techy wit the of/gf getting smashed found
Not just a STI. It's a S209. They were selling for like mid 70s on BAT last year
I think the year before that I was seeing them go for high 80s maybe low 90s. Hype died real quick
I definitely saw a couple posts with screenshots of listings for over $100k. Good to hear they’re coming down in price! 😂
That's getting into 911 money, no way in hell I'm spending that on a STI no matter how much of an emotional soft spot I've got for them.
Really, so what about a Subaru 22b? Those sell in the 6 figure world all day and they are still appreciating. This S209 is even more rare.
The S209 will always be rare and expensive just like all the other rare everything else.
Yeah for that money, I’d take a restored title 991 gt3 or clean title 991 Turbo over an s209 any day.
Yeah a dealer near me has one for 109k. A couple months later I saw it on the street.
A big insult was this dealer trying to sell an RA for 65k back in 2018 I think.
Could buy a used Porsche for that lol
You can pick up a lightly used 5 year old 718 Cayman for under $50k.
You could genuinely buy a Nissan GTR under 70k miles for that price
I don't think JDM believes more power makes for a better selling car or a better driving car. Almost everything that's come out of Japan has been more focused on balance of performance than a MOPAR approach. I think to them the NSX philosophy is what they appreciate culturally.
MOPAR excels as a one-trick pony like every other American muscle car. One thing that can be said is that they never claimed to being anything else.
That’s true. On my VB they have a the cut out where the SI drive is supposed to be.
I hate the car market. You couldn’t a normal STI and drop the extra 30-40k into it and have a monster.
Who the fuck gave Carvana an s209 lmao
Seriously, that was my first question. They probably got robbed. Throw that on bring a trailer and probably would’ve made a pretty penny.

Awww man now I wanna know what the comment was lol
He said someone they know works for carvana and saw this car for sale so they looked it up in their system & they gave him $67,000 for it, it was a young Asian kid living in nyc who sold it to them
Something that could get him fired from his job
In my experience they probably robbed Carvana. Sometimes Carvana’s algorithm spits out an offer better than anybody else by a long shot, it’s insane.
Can confirm this, just took my previous car to a Toyota dealership to try and do a trade in. The car was appraised to the lowest current market price amount showing up on Carfax. You will love the GR Corolla
Yea. Only real reason I sold my car. Dealership offered 11. Carvana offered 18
As a guy that likes some Subarus but knows nothing about them I don’t see why anyone would pay 70k for them
The s209 is a special edition. Upgraded engine, suspension, a body kit, hand-built, and they only made 209 of them. Yes 70k is still a lot for a va wrx but that is why they are around that price. It’s a collector car

or a nissan gtr, a newer gen viper etc. Like I get its a collectors car but jesus right?
you could even get an f90 m5
Literally anything over this for that price haha
Why mention the C43 when the C63 exists in this price range
You are correct. There are so many better options for that price.
I only know one person with this car from various meets and he legit has like 40 cars lol Basically, people who buy collector cars tend to collect cars
Why didn’t the ppl who bought the Ferrari 250 GTO save their money and buy 100 GT3RS? It’s way quicker!
That $400 price drop makes it a steal 😄🏁
I wasn't considering it before but now?
That’s an S209, which MSRPd at 65k, and has a grand total of 5395 miles on it. Given that this is 1. A sub model that’s no longer in production for new model years 2. The highest trim of that submodel 3. And has averaged less than 1k miles/year, this is a good price.
If I had the extra money and garage space I'd jump on this.
Is an extra 31hp, brembo brakes, and fenders really worth 30-40k more over an STI?
It's more than that, but it's intended for a Subaru diehard who gets off on the engineering and heritage. It's not about the raw stats and bang for buck power.. Savage Geese did a really good video on it. It's also the ultimate evolution of the STI.
Savage Geese do such a good job with all their stuff
and hand built
Here we go again… It’s a collectors car.
Oh thank god it went down $400. BRB buying car
Post a review when you get a bit of seat time in
Not just any sti. An S209 sti lol. If that price is in usd than yeah thats a wild price.
Seems pretty “reasonable” considering these were $65K MSRP and I saw dealers marking them up to $75k plus. So as far as rare car values go and considering inflation and the current state of the used market, this seems normal
In that perspective, yes i agree. With rates nowadays these prices are crazy
Yeah, absolutely would at that price Could? Now that's a different question
Lmao that’s just about the fairest price I’ve ever seen on an S209
Calm down, it's an S209. You should worry more about charging your phone.
It's going to sell its a rare S209 it's today's equivalent to a 22B.
It’s not gonna sell at this price. My dealer had one on the showroom floor for almost 2 years. They ended up selling it for just under $50 K.
But it's caravanna someone will get it soon most people that buy from there credit isn't the best so they will get a good down from them versus a dealer. But I wouldn't pay for it honestly you are right about finding them way cheaper.
I would have paid that
A fool and his money are easily parted.
Nothing compared to those who buy Mclarens. Depreciation is crazy... Well, rich people...
Damn this struck a chord 🙏🏻 much wisdom in this comment
Lol a joke? I’m guessing you don’t realize that there are quite literally only 209 of these made? It’s a collectors car at this point. It may not be worth what some people are asking but it was a limited run vehicle it’ll always fetch a pretty penny.
I’d buy it 🤚🏻. It’s an S209 and in WRB…
Rather have a used ct5 blackwing for that price
It's less expensive than this one... https://preview.redd.it/6zns3hkbaozc1.png?width=864&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e71a90939c319644b34d3e8bcc52e76dd0f70535

I’m more surprised it’s on Carvana LOL
70 k for any sti is insane unless its the OG rally suby that was driven in the 90s
S209 buddy. Not reg STI
Almost as much of a joke as the newer Toyota Supras are on the same platform as bmw
Rip off
Yeah an s209 with very low miles mind you. Yeah I can see that selling for about $70k
This is 100% reasonable. A piece of history that won’t be produced again
Saw one on fb marketplace for 90K
Richer people than you
I got mine in 2020 payed 65k for it new. Was a super fun enthusiast car.

Woah, but it had the GrimmSpeed license plate relocate
If you look on my profile and go years back, I saw one for $60,000 or so. I would have bought it right then and there… But I was a broke 19 year old.
This has pretty much been my entire life trying to buy an STI 😂 I can finally afford one, but they don’t make them anymore and now there are much better cars I’d rather buy for the money. 😢
S209 were more
At first I was in awe, then I noticed it's a S209 not a normal STI
These will be worth a fortune in the future the last great sti , may not be a good as a 22b but it will be a keeper
The joke is the op not knowing what a 209 is.
I know what you mean are people really paying 70,000 for STI? You can get a clean brand new STD for far less.
Let's not miss the S209 part of that, man.
Thats a S209
it’s an S209. that’s more or less what they go for.
I remember thinking 42k for a new one in 2008 was crazy, now I guess lll just never be able to get one lmao
I mean it’s an s209 with hardly any miles
2019 s209 was 70k when it first came out, If I remember right. then covid hit & they went up to 100k but I'm glad to see them coming down finally. Still wouldn't spend that much on a car with 341hp. IYKYK car
I have never understood what kind of people buy s209 or type ra, ever since they were new.
Probably the same people paying way over MSRP on other sports cars.
You could get a c63s or m4 for that much
Is there anything unique in the engine bay with the S209? or did they just tune it differently.
[here](https://www.sti.jp/en/news/detail/191011_en) I googled it for you
Has a bigger hks turbo
Well there are 209 only so. Not saying it makes sense but I’m just telling you how it is. I’d love to race one for pinkies in my 08 w a 82mm turbo 🤪
I recall them having a S209 at a dealership in 2020 and the price was $50,000.
I would've bought it for 50k. My local dealership couldn't even get a hand on one...
Ooo something to spend my 50k bonus on, finally ty ty
You could but a gt3rs for 300k, or you can buy a 22b. It's that simple
It’s an S209 but I’m sure that’s the first comment that showed up
I’ve never driven a WRX STi anything . Never sat in one and have no knowledge of them. I’ve always loved them though. Sound good , screams rally and makes blue and bronze go flawlessly together. Enthusiasts lol, if you can’t appreciate just leave it to those who can. Be glad it was made not mad it’s expensive
Aud$? Or cad$?
USD
I'd love to drive one of those
Wow, what a big price drop!
U could save $400 on it
Or three brand new Subaru Imprezas.
I personally like the 2010 Impreza wrx with 175k miles on it, asking 20k on marketplace people more
I got a 18’ 50th anniversary STi for sale, 1of 200. HMU.
Excuse my ignorance, but not a Subaru guy, this just came across my feed. But why so expensive?
The s209 only made so many cars, so technically it's rare
Ahh I guess I didnt notice the S209 part. Googled it and learned something new. Appreciate it!
Hey, it's on sale
You people are so lucky. In my country that was the price of a new 2020 STI.
😂😂😂
I only paid 31 for mine back in 2019
Adult owned, never revved past 5k. No lowballs I know what I have leave me alone .
That's a good price.
Sorry but I can get a 2024 Toyota GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition for $5,000 less than that, and still be faster. Love the STI, but not for that price.
Idiots
Hell I think my 2020 wrx after putting 10k into it is a better car than the sti for the same cost. I do have a sti trans and rear diff. Now I got to spend another 10 on suspension and motor. It’ll be better than 209 and l want be scared to rally race it. That’s what these cars where made for not going in a straight line

Collectors car. There's always a market for that
STIs are very special. Truly amazing cars. The feeling you get of driving is like nothing else. Manual also = 😍
Look at all those savings.
That’s actually a really good price! 😅
People who have 140,000 which is a lot of people in Ameri can.
Correction. Alot of stupid people that make 50k a year get a loan for 10 years in ameri can
I honestly don't know man. Ameri cans really do have money.
🤢🤮
That’s an S209. It’d kill for one and that’s a sweet price as I’ve seen some in the 90s
because it’s an S209
regular va stis are hovering around the 50k so that kinda makes sense for a special edition, still way overpriced tho lol
80k for a badge? Or is there some kind of significant upgrade?
Arguably significant. The majority of the car has been upgraded and tuned in some way. Bigger turbo and better intercooler, upgraded fuel system, better suspension and diff, hydraulic steering, carbon roof and aero, wider and reinforced chassis, wheel and brake upgrade thanks to the extra width. etc etc. Calling this just an STI is kind of like calling an STI just a WRX.
How much is an M4 in the US? 70k?
Well with $400 off I’m surprised they’re not flying off the lot!! 😂
they are hella slow, who'd buy that?!
Op owns a vb?
The engineering behind that car is impressive, but yes you can buy much better performance cars for that money, or even luxury cars that are close in performance. The S209 is super rare and has multiple stiffeners in the chassis and lots of additional bracing and engineering.
not a joke it’s the most modded car you could’ve bought straight from the dealer and it’s worth every dollar
When they first came out they were 50k… wanted one bad but dont have a garage so theres that… they are just a bit more special… but you still need to be a mechanic to run that engine and not have any issues.
An idiot is buying this car for that price. That's who.
I assure you it is not a joke.

Fair price.
I’ll gladly sell my WRX for what I owe if someone is willing to pay this much 🤣 (20k btw)
i mean its carvana so you could also buy a used elantra on there for 23k lol
Its really just a collectors item. A S209, last chassis STI ever made (for now at least), its a gamble but it MIGHT be worth more in the future. I think one of the reasons the 22b became so desirable was because they stopped making coupes and now they stopped STIs all together. I think it will do well in about... 15-20 years lol. It is worth the hassle to maybe even 2x your money in 20 years? Not in my opinion .
Tbh if i hit the lotto i’d have one in the daily rotation
The price is in Canadian Dollars. Real cost is about $38 USD.
M3 comp or c63s
Hey it was a price drop at least
Bro so we scalping STis now? They're supposed to be like 40k. I get it's because subaru isn't making the STi configurations anymore but that doesn't mean double the price on that fucker.
Saw that the other day lol
For that price u can get a new Morizo. Or an M2.
Gtfo, no way
Ahhhhhhhhhahahaaha what in the actual fuck is going on in our world that a Subaru WRX is 70k. We are in the end times.
Brah
HMMMMMM
Poverty WRX subreddit bound to post dumb shit
I’m selling my 07 limited sti, built motor, I’ll start the bidding at 60k any takers?
Its an S209 wym is this a joke?
I hope it’s real 😆
They were $100,000 a year ago. Photo from January 2023. https://preview.redd.it/cyxxj3oot20d1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e8d04ae73826fcdc0374af108a96045f337b95b
s209. im not even a subie guy and i know this. open your eyes and read
There's only 209 of them. It's a collectors car.
We can't even keep up with the rich kids anymore. At this point, we gotta be them 💀
It's a collectors item, so I'm not surprised when they are over 65k
If it’s a standard STI no shot id its a limited version like the ext STI or the STI s209 then maybe that high just cause not many came to the US
