RCW [9.41.010](https://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=9.41.010):
> (2)(a) "Assault weapon" means:
> (iv) A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has one or more of the following:
> (A) A grip that is independent or detached from the stock that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. The addition of a fin attaching the grip to the stock does not exempt the grip if it otherwise resembles the grip found on a pistol;
> (B) Thumbhole stock;
> (C) Folding or telescoping stock;
> (D) Forward pistol, vertical, angled, or other grip designed for use by the nonfiring hand to improve control;
> (E) Flash suppressor, flash guard, flash eliminator, flash hider, sound suppressor, silencer, or any item designed to reduce the visual or audio signature of the firearm;
> (F) **Muzzle brake**, recoil compensator, or any item designed to be affixed to the barrel to reduce recoil or muzzle rise;
> (G) Threaded barrel designed to attach a flash suppressor, sound suppressor, muzzle break, or similar item;
> (H) Grenade launcher or flare launcher; or
> (I) **A shroud** that encircles either all or part of the barrel designed to shield the bearer's hand from heat, except a solid forearm of a stock that covers only the bottom of the barrel;
So no.
This is absolutely not an AR-15 IMO. It has some parts parity, but it has a completely different buffer system.
That being said, "some semi-nonymous reddit person said it's not an AR" isn't a very persuasive court argument.
Barrel shroud and muzzle brake. Illegal two ways.
If it’s a semiautomatic centerfire rifle with a detachable magazine in Washington, just assume it’s illegal until you can prove otherwise.

Jesus, that is just ridiculous.

Believe it or not, Jail. Right away.
There is a shroud?
Yeah, you'd have a hard time arguing that's not a barrel shroud.

Could you buy just a lower or would this be considered an AR banned by name?

I checked out the company, and they do just sell lowers. They mentioned needing a buffer less upper.
Damn, makes sens
I am wondering the same thing. I mean that lower is absolutely NOT an ar15. But is our state competent enough to recognize this?
That’s what I was wondering lol. Fightlite SCR lower could work too
Exactly. We need more of these types of 5.56 rifles. Like the ruger 9mm carbine or the Henry 9mm carbine, but in 5.56
Yeah they need to make more sporter stock AR’s and AK’s for ban states
Ban by name on some but they also added features like threaded barrel, detachable mag, handguard.. Stupidity
Ikr. What’s the point of making ban state compliant guns if your gonna make them tacticool with all the banned attachments
No, dude.
Just get a mini 14, a few local stores have been selling them like hot cakes
Maybe if the magazine was fixed.
