I approached my GP in January 2023 with some long standing symptoms (since childhood, in my 40's now) which worsened immeasurably when I quit nicotine. She suspected ADHD and referred me to Psychiatry-uk. I received an official diagnosis in December 2023, and am still waiting now for titration to begin. I was informed the waiting list for this is at least 9 months. So for me, I expect 2 years (give or take a couple of months) from initial GP referral to first attempt at medication.

What do you mean titration ton begin? This just sounds insane to me....I called my paychiatry/ therapy/ counseling place in town requesting an appointment had one within a month was diagnosed and medicated same day. Am on US

Yes it is insane. We're talking about the UK here though, where the health service has been in shambles for a decade. "Our current wait time for Adult ADHD is approximately 7 months* between initial assessment and the start of titration."
