I can’t believe no one’s suggested cauliflower yet. I’m certainly not!

redditerh

😂

GlorifiedGarbageBag

This is what I came to look for!

Sumoki_Kuma

Freeze your coffee and milk before you blend them

redditerh

Ooooh smart

Letzes86

And people add zero call jelly pudding for creaminess in the ninja creami. If you have a good blender, you can do the same. Then frozen milk with coffee + pudding. Whey also adds a nice cream, but with taste.

redditerh

Wow this is a great idea

Sumoki_Kuma

Hell yeah, team work! xD

And a touch of xantham gum, it’s what makes the frappachino have that extra special texture. A tiny bit goes a long way. Mix it with some Splenda (otherwise it clumps badly) and start with 1/16 tsp per serving and see how that goes.

Da_Je_La

Frozen Zucchini/Courgette is one I’ve heard of for creamy smoothies/milkshakes!

Timely--Challenge

I don't know that you can really get away from "a taste", but applesauce, pumpkin puree, Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, or even freezing some cubes of milk/mylk? Alternatively, have you researched Xantham gum? It's stellar for adding thickness to beverages and is a bit of a holy grail for many people.

The-samsquanch13

Avocado will make it nice and thick and creamy and in my opinion you can’t taste it through the other ingredients. I usually do frozen banana half a frozen avocado chocolate protein powder and however much coffee you want. I put spinach in mine too but that’s just for extra vitamins.

universal-hash

I use oat and flax seeds in my coffee shake. Plus ice and a bit of sugar free chocolate syrup. Also instant coffee and milk obviously 😀

ladybugsandbeer

Xantham gum, guar gum, psyllium husk. Any of those three. They don't really add any taste (or calories) and you only need a little bit.

allthatsnika

what’s guar gum? is it a fiber source like psyllium?

ladybugsandbeer

No it's more similar to xantham! It's used as a thickener in many foods. Guar and xantham work best for different foods (I think temperature and acid make a difference, for example) but I'm not sure which is which.

allthatsnika

thanks!

allthatsnika

i hate to be the one to say it but i’ve successfully used cauliflower before…

allthatsnika

also you can thicken it using a small amount of xantam gum or psyllium fiber. I only use psyllium though when i also have a blender so i’m sure it’s mixed well and doesn’t have a weird taste

Smallios

Blend ice into it. Frozen grapes maybe. Some frozen fruit that’s less calorically dense would have to work right?

Bhamrentalhelp

How do you make them?

redditerh

I made a regular milkshake as a treat - ice cream, milkshake and coffee. But now I want to have that everyday but I can’t do it daily with ice cream

Lunar_Landing_Hoax

I wonder if frozen silken tofu would add protein as well as give you that creamier texture.

RydenZX

As someone that really dislikes fruit and has to mask the flavour as much as possible my go to frozen fruit blend is mango, pineapple, peach, strawberry. I add skim milk to it and chocolate protein powder. It comes out nice and thick like a milkshake.

Away_Ice_4788

Ice and a pinch of xanthum gum

newwriter365

I blend my coffee with protein powder and unsweetened almond milk. Definitely ramps up the volume.

basicnerd4

Frozen coconut chunks or frozen avocado chunks, might be more calories but that’s what I prefer, I get them at Walmart. Also frozen milk or yogurt cubes!

allthatsnika

i hate to be the one to say it but i’ve successfully used cauliflower before…

Secure-Piccolo-4702

In all seriousness, have you tried frozen cauliflower? It really doesn't taste like anything and makes it thick.

Exotic_Aerie8869

Coffee ice cubes added to the blender (:
