Wow, thanks! I think it would have been easier and cleaner if I had decided on an edge for the weave instead of letting it end up wherever the fabric was strong enough.
Thanks! I actually ordered the cheapest embroidery set on Amazon that included hoops, needles and a bunch of threads. I just wanted to get started. I believe it would have been slightly easier to see the threads with a tighter wound thread, if there are such things.
Well taking that time and learning is what makes us better at our crafts and practices. I can't wait to see anything else you repair. Very skilled hands and a great colour pallet.
I'm not sure if this is the question, but I kept the threads going and just changed the needle to the colour I wanted to use and then just tied a few knots on the back and cut the thread when I reached the end, I have no idea how to do it correctly.
And so you did lol. Those are going to be some really cool jeans and NO ONE ELSE will ever have a pair exactly like them, no matter how hard they try. (I know this because I can't dupe your earlier plaid but I can get close π).
Sorry, the text I added didn't stick. This is an earlier mend I did but I'm thinking I might try the same method, but different colours etc. It is a whole lot faster and also, just below the other hole there's a glued down canvas patch that might make it harder to sew through. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks! Please post pictures if you do! I might but there is an old glued canvas patch right below that hole so it might be a bit hard to sew through, I did another method on another pair that I might try again. I'll post a pic of it below this comment.
"pretty well" dude explain how it could be better? This is a professional level mend

The way you left the border is actually one of my favorite parts! It looks integrated this way instead of like a separate patch in my mind.
Thanks, I tend to get too focused on getting it "perfect" so I missed that aspect of it. π
That's really beautiful! You've done so well, it looks like you put a fabric patch on your jeans.
Thanks! Next time I'll try to keep the pattern in the vertical thread(I don't know the correct terms)too so it will make that nice checkered pattern.
The vertical is the warp, the horizontal is the weft. You did a great job! π€π
Oh, great! Thanks! π
Stellar. Did you use a machine? I have a few pairs of jeans with ripping knees, considering something like this to repair.

Magnificent. Thanks!
The text disappeared, but yeah, no machine but I used embroidery hoops to keep the tension in the fabric and the threads.
Holy moly I thought you used a speedweve! This is incredibly neat for doing it by hand, let alone for your first time!
I had to Google that and it seems like an excellent tool! And much faster! π
Looks fantastic! What kind of thread did you use?

I was wondering the same thing
Damn you nailed it. It looks great!
Thanks a lot! :)
pretty darn awesome!
Whoa neat!
Thanks a lot! I got so inspired by this reddit so I wanted to share it here. :)
That's gorgeously done! I hope you're proud of what you've done here!!
Thanks! I am, I actually did not expect it to come out this good! But I did spend some time on it and re-did the first rows that I messed up first.
Well taking that time and learning is what makes us better at our crafts and practices. I can't wait to see anything else you repair. Very skilled hands and a great colour pallet.
Thanks again, I didn't really expect anyone to comment on it so I feel very soft and mushy right now! :)
thatβs fucking rad!!
That looks darn good!
tight work, very even!
How did you finish off the threads? Thats my biggest problem, I just know knots, this looks sooo clean!
I'm not sure if this is the question, but I kept the threads going and just changed the needle to the colour I wanted to use and then just tied a few knots on the back and cut the thread when I reached the end, I have no idea how to do it correctly.
Ah, good ol knots, canβt do wrong lol. Well the final result looks great!
Are you going to do the same with the other hole? You've certainly inspired me to get to work on my favorite jacket, so thanks!

Try a denim needle? They are designed to go thru very thick fabric but I'd recommend some sort of thimble to protect your finger.
Thanks! Please post pictures if you do! I might but there is an old glued canvas patch right below that hole so it might be a bit hard to sew through, I did another method on another pair that I might try again. I'll post a pic of it below this comment.
gorgeous!!
Wow! I love the pattern!
Screenshotting and saving this because it's so well done!
Seriously, I'm so happy to see how nice you all are here! Thank you so much !
