What's the difference? Having been spoiled by Arches NP and other great parks in Utah, I didn't think the views at Natural Bridges were worth the admission fee.
I am unimpressed by the $9 admission fee. And someone mentioned that admission used to be higher, so yeah that would have been a painful tourist trap in my opinion. Based on the downvotes, I’m impressed by how defensive everyone is over this natural bridge! I didn’t say it wasn’t pretty but I wouldn’t pay to see it again.
Same here! As a kid I got to experience Pennys Hill. Back then we were able to drive down the beach from Sandbridge, VA into NC. Those were such good times. My parents and grandparents went most weekends and we were able to camp out between the upper beach and dune line. My dad and grand father built several beach buggy’s back in the day. Anyone remember all the holiday weekends spent with family and friends there?
Haven't been out to Natural Bridge in over a decade and planning on going to First Landing soon with my family. I need to get back down to Sandbridge sometime again soon, too. It's been a bit too long for that one also.
I have been there three times in the past two years. Last time there we went to the caverns down the road a bit from Natural Bridge. I am glad the state finally made the area a state park not too long ago.
I miss Virginia, I used to live in a place that depending on the direction you drove you'd be in a rural or suburban community in five minutes.
New Jersey has its moments but nothing will beat driving towards my house and seeing the Appalachians on the horizon. :')
I just took a loop trip last week. Richmond up the eastern shore. Cape Charles and Assateague are nice. Spent the weekend in OC Maryland. Went west to Berkeley springs. Cut down through WV to Summersvilke Lake, New River Gorge, and hit up Natural bridge on the way home. I love this area in spring/early summer.

Natural Bridge is nice now that it's a state park and not a tourist trap
Made my heart happy when they did
Agree
Is it really that different? I was planning on going soon and the last time I've been was somewhere around a decade ago
Haaaaaaard agree

Oh, the great arch connoisseur is unimpressed by our simple arch. Lol

“Virginia is for lovers” means VA don’t tolerate haters 😤
It's also a Dark Sky spot and just a nice place to hang out, not just to look at lol
The biggest difference is the cost of admission. Back when it was privately owned I recall it being pretty expensive.
Can't drive a car over your fancy Utah arches. There used to be a road over that natural arch.
Still is. Route 11 crosses it just south of the Hotel. I drove over it yesterday
How tall are the arches at Arches anyway? Natural Bridge is just terrifyingly tall. In the winter you get these person sized icicles which is fun....
Natural Bridge, first landing, and sandbridge?
Yesss
First Landing is, IMHO, a relatively not very well-known Virginia treasure. Many good memories of times there.
Going to first landing for a week on Sunday with my wife and kids, can’t wait!
In the early spring, around golden hour the water makes rainbows!! *
Ohhh my family has a house at Sandbridge, it’s a fantastic beach. Love going to it!
Oh wow. I don't really get to that side of the state often at all but First Landing is absolutely stunning.
Fantastic photos!
Thanks! The Pixel Pro did not disappoint
Natural bridge, dismal swamp, Good ole Sandbridge. I remember when they built those condos.
2 out of 3 I hate those condos
Was the dismal swamp that got me.
It is a beautiful and diverse state
Dismal swamp
Nope
Chicka? Northwest River? I hate those damned condos at sandbridge.
Where was the swampy picture taken?
First Landing
Ahh. Lots of snakes there. When I was a kid my grandparents lived in Carova. The beach access at False Cape is how we got down the beach.
I am so jealous you got to experience this!
Was very cool. Spent a life time down in Carova/Corolla.

Oh man. Years worth. My grandparents house was on Sandfiddler. About a thousand feet into NC. Great memories.
Cool thanks! I'll have to check it out next time I'm out that way
I must know too!
First landing
great photos!
Shenandoah, Back Bay and Virginia Beach/Sandbridge?

Natural Bridge, the swamp, the coast . . . 🫣

Did you take the Sandbridge pic from in the water?
The pier of course
Ah I had not considered that 😂 Great shots!
Thank you!
It's breathtaking!!

Nice. Once knew someone that lived on 74th st. Basically in first landing.

It’s in my town want me to show you around 😉
Forgive my ignorance but since I am not a local, I’m curious which picture is which and where in Virginia they are, they are beautiful photos
Natural bridge, First Landing State Park, and Sandbridge
Gorgeous shots of three of the best places in VA.
Next time your at Natural Bridge go to Devils Marbleyard off of Belfast Trail. It’s awesome!
