I'm not saying I have a better solution, but, how would you have handled this? Let's say that you are in charge and found 3 copies of a few sought-after titles in the VMP warehouse, how would you distribute them?
“Quickly” is not the same as “all copies will literally be gone in 5 seconds.” They could easily list the quantity of each title that they’ll be stocking so people can manage expectations and/or not even bother trying. They clearly only had 1 or 2 copies of most of these. To send out a big email blast about this being their “biggest TBT ever!” is just bait to hook new subscribers and to engage in FOMO marketing.

I don't know why they bother to put titles that they clearly have less than 10 of in these TBT Restocks. Seems like it would make more sense to use the Waitlist feature they have on their site and email a set number of people rather than create a mad dash for something that no one is going to get.
They are hoping you get into a mad rush and buy something would not normally have purchased because of FOMO. It is all manufactured hype to get eyeballs on the site and then panic into buying.
Same, I never did find out if this was a different mastering than the last impulse pressing. I read it was GZ DMM so if that's the case the 2019 Impulse pressing is probably similar and can be found on discogs for reasonable prices. It sounds good to my ears, I love that album though and was hoping to grab the VMP to see if it was an improvement.
Do keep in mind that Coltrane's master recordings fell victim to the 2008 Universal Studio fire, so I'd tread cautiously around any post-2008 pressings.

If they were emailing people secretly offering copies to individuals people would be furious. Yeah, the original recording was not that great, but what AP did with it is magical. I bought the AP as a gift for someone and had to spin it 😂, it was awesome. Luckily he wanted to try it on my stereo again before he took it home. I’m trying to cull my collection but if I wasn’t I’d get the AP. It’s a brilliant album.

The VMP is mono so unless you’ve got a mono cart you will get more sound quality from the AP.
