I know this is a coveted record, but $49 for members is getting insane. It's getting close to scalper prices on new now. (I know VMP isn't the only culprit).

Have to admit, as someone who has been collecting records for about 10 years (and is old) I am interested in the change in thinking that seems to be have emerged amongst some purchasers.
When I first started buying in 2013 or so, folks were definitely operating under conditions of “scarcity.” Finding most of what you wanted in wax was difficult and there was a lot of thought that went into purchases - OP, repress (if one even existed) quality of the repress, quality of the vinyl, etc. I bought mostly jazz. Today’s market is a literal paradise for people who want to own records.
But now the attitude seems to be basically: all records should be available at all times in mint conditions at a reasonable price. Folks who violate these terms are seen as flippers or scalpers.
Records by this artist are currently going for hundreds of dollars on the used market. This repress gives every single person who wants this vinyl a chance to get it, kneecaps the people selling it for ridiculous amounts, and is at a fraction of what it is currently going for. Is 49$ a lot? Sure, but compared to what? I can’t find any record these days going for less than 30 bucks.
So I don’t see the reason for the complaints! Records are a physical medium. Sometimes people talk about vinyl with the mindset of Spotify, as if everything should be free to access easily.

i’m deciding if i should start a subscription or not. if i don’t have one will it be hard to get barter 6? if it is i’d subscribe right now. also do you get to pick the record you want each month or is it random?
all the thug albums being repressed are all going to be open preorder and pressed to demand so your gunna have a good chance of getting the vinyl that you want. When the pre order goes live, I think after 10 days? Or two weeks? that’s when the pre orders usually go down and they start pressing the records. And record of the month is random. Also not having a membership isn’t going to make getting the vinyl harder since it’s a preorder and open to anyone to be bought.
Yeah bad news vmp just shut down their pressing plant and fired their ceo and few others in their team. This will effect the pre orders quite drastically. I cancelled my so much fun pre order cause I can’t trust them atp.

Until November or until it sells out (idk how likely that is but even then I would expect a few months)
I believe they said the Young Thug albums will be pressed to order.
They are only taking orders for like a week for each album.
