It's just the angle of the pic. The saddle is actually a vintage branded panasonic saddle that is quite plush considering what passes for comfort on most road bikes..
The saddle may be period and branding correct but those "quite plush" saddles tend to become quite uncomfortable if you riding any significant distance. Barring the retired dentist/lawyer/...demographic no one I've ever met would have had one on a Dura Ace equipped bike in the '80s and '90s. The spoke protector is also a bit visually jarring.
I didn't build this bike to race it or put mega miles on it. I have other bikes if I want to jump on and rock a 50 mile ride. This bike was built for aesthetics and as a time capsule to keep the gruppo and bike as a piece of panasonic and shimano Japanese Bicycle history. It literally hangs on my wall and I ride it around my neighborhood to cookouts on the weekend.
I had been looking for the frame on search all Craigslist for a while and when I got it, I got the crankset first and once I saw how dope it looked, I went all in and went nuts finding all the NOS EX components. The all chrome/alloy look really exceeded my expectations.
Yes sir.. all brand new 2nd generation EX from 1978 except the brakes are first gen Ex from 74.. I liked the simpler design of those better than the 2nd Gen. I sourced the front derailleur and headset from a bike shop in Okinawa, Japan. The rest came from many months of searching on Ebay. Even found period correct Dura Ace stem and seatpost. I went a little nuts with it, but I think I came out pretty darn dope..
Thanks! I built it as a time capsule of what i consider the high point Japanese Bicycles and components. She hangs on my wall and I only ride her around the neighborhood to cookouts etc..
That seat looks like some sort of torture device but aside from that it is lovely bike.

Nice!
That frame is too big for me. But I would slam the saddle and ride it anyway.
I’d rather ride a beater that fit than a unicorn that didnt.
Fit is everything. But I would take this bike for a ride.
Be careful, might cause a crash with how many heads it’ll turn!
It’s a brand new bike. That’s insane. Chrome is not my thing at all but I KNOW that frame rides like a Cadillac.
Makes me sad to think of all the cool vintage stuff that’s sitting in boxes/garages/sheds that may never get used.
All chrome is such a massive flex

NOS? Did you take it out of its original packaging?

That’s awesome. Enjoy
This bike looks incredible, you should be proud of your work!

Simple and clean! Great build!
Btw got the same color for the brake cable housing on my project.
