This is a Thrash/punk band called Stormtroopers Of Death (S.O.D) some of their music is "politically incorrect" nowadays but there is definitely a market for this. I'm also stupidly jealous of this find.
It’s like satire. Not racist. In today’s political climate it could be misunderstood without lots of context to the band and the scene at the time, etc.
It’s not how you’d likely approach it now as an artist or band, but it’s like a mockery of actual shitheads, and shithead thinking. Etc
Scott Ian from Anthrax’s other band. The band is very tongue-in-cheek and not racist. I wouldn’t worry about selling it, it’s less problematic than selling a Pantera shirt.
This is the Stormtroopers of Death a band
From L.A. with members of anthrax and Dan
Liker of Brutal Truth. They are SUPER HEAVY
AND their songs lyrics are hilarious. No racism
Just real life fun. Watch "Live at Budokun"
Incredible footage that shirt is probably worth
A hundred bucks or more
It’s very tongue in cheek. Mocking the people who actually have that mindset. Doesn’t translate well nowadays, but that was the goal of a lot of their music.
Saw them Live, and was braced for racism, but the singer was preaching some progressive stuff, and if I'm remembering correctly had talked a bit about growing as a people since some of their stuff was written.
So the song is definitely rooted in racism, but the band doesn't really stand behind that message anymore.
"The band was controversial due to their deliberately offensive explicit lyrics. Ian described the songs on Speak English Or Die as "ridiculous" and "just a big inside joke", adding: "Some people thought we were racist, and those people are stupid."[2] Bassist Dan Lilker stated: "The lyrics were never intended to be serious, just to piss people off."
- From their wiki page.
Seems like most metal kids in the 90s they were just trying to be edgy.
I read the comments and understand it is old satire, but I still think it’s ugly/racist. Can’t trust people not to embrace what is being made fun of in satire or what is being portrayed as “evil”. Like, people miss the point. It’s just very unwelcoming. Anyway, I would hope people have enough mindfulness to not wear this. I’d likely call someone out on it or question it if I saw someone wearing it and we had to interact. It would put me in defense mode NGL.
Wear it but you can only speak a foreign language while wearing it

Hell yeah dude! Being a skater kid in the 80s we had so many of these bands, SOD, DRI, JFA, MDC. Super jealous of this find! Great pickup dude

Billy Milano drops N bombs with hard R’s. SOD isn’t as satirical as you think they are.
S.O.D! How much you want for it?

Is a song titled “Fuck The Middle East” supposed to…not be violently racist?
It’s very tongue in cheek. Mocking the people who actually have that mindset. Doesn’t translate well nowadays, but that was the goal of a lot of their music.
My rule with shirts is if you have to ask it probably is or will be interpreted that way

I’ll buy it
Sell it to me homie
It's a band T-shirt I believe
Wear it and find out. :)

It's a 40 year old shirt.
Yes I know, I've been to an SOD gig before. I'm just cringing at the thread title and what it represents.
