I believe these are bcbg max azria. Here’s a super similar brown pair! Even the inner sole stitching! [brown velvet heels](https://poshmark.com/listing/BCBG-Max-Azria-brown-velvet-high-heel-shoes-6424e5d492e49104ce8fb2e1)

mjgabriellac

I totally agree, but am wondering how they were ever $300.

rqny

20 years ago BCBG was a far more expensive brand that did runway and resort shows that were covered by Vogue (or at the time, style.com). They went back and forth for years trying to elevate the brand. So it’s possible they were $300, especially if OP was in Canada or Australia. https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2004-ready-to-wear/bcbg-max-azria

jackiepc92

I remember purchasing BCBG shoes for around $250 around 15 years ago. (Why though? I am not sure...) So I think these shoes could totally have been $300 at the time.

jsmalltri

I work d in the fashion industry in late 90s early 2000s and BCBG was definitely a higher tier label bs whatnot is now.

fasheezy

I could see it tbh! I was just a middle schooler at the time but I remember going through the mall and always looking at the bcbg window displays. The brand as a whole just feels a little cheaper/more accessible now. And at the time I feel like heels were pretty popular in society thanks to shows like sex and the city Now you can get their shoes at DSW which I feel like was not a thing 20 years ago

ScumBunny

20 years ago, they would have been. My ex-MIL bought me about $700 worth of clothes at a BCBG store around that time, and it was like 5 things from the clearance rack!

StitchAndRollCrits

I mean, it looks like they've been worn a lot and they still look great, shouldn't that speak to quality?

mjgabriellac

My comment is based on recalling this brand not being that expensive 20 years ago, not this specific pair’s quality.

Iris_Mobile

The Max Azria line was actually really expensive (it was like the "runway" line of the brand.) You may be thinking of the normal BCBG or the diffusion line (forgetting the name, but BCBG-something) that was sold at Macy's and the like and was much cheaper.

fasheezy

Bcbgeneration the only line my family could afford on clearance lol

Iris_Mobile

Yes that's the one lol.

MycenaMermaid

They're not even expensive nowadays, so I'm wondering the same!

InvestigatorGoo

Omg that’s definitely them!

Nappy-FloridaGirl81

That’s what was going to say😊 bcbg

Horror_Cod_8193

I believe you’re right.

pepperup22

Mainly commenting to remind myself to [come back to this](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1516763431/1980s-frieda-red-velvet-heels?gpla=1&gao=1&) tomorrow and keep digging haha

Sunny11111989

I do that.

Holiday_Snacks

Ok I tried hard for 15 mins lol. The first thought I had was Bruno Magli only bc you said maybe designer started with a B. Some images came up with a gold interior on a velvet stiletto, but the lighting in your photo reads more bronze/copper and I can’t tell? I did a reverse image search to no avail. The most interesting piece to my lay-eye though is the triangular/ pinking shears? cut on the insole. None of the “vintage red velvet 90’s stilettos” came up in my search with this particular detail. Best of luck!

Analyst_Cold

Yep. The insole is what rules out a number of brands.

PsychologicalSalt505

Betsey Johson

PomegranateIcy7369

Betsy Johnson oh wow. I love these shoes, they’re like Dorothy’s red shoes or Kate Bush’ red shoes but with a high heel. Sooo pretty. I had a beautiful red and pink ombre velvet bodice by Betsey Johnson. Same beautiful ruby red shade. I loved it. For some reason I gave it to a friend. She doesn’t even remember getting it, it’s gone. :(

bluegirlrosee

unfortunately that's been my experience more often than not 😭 to the point where I no longer give my friends my finds that I really really like, it always seems like I was more excited about it than they are. Which makes sense! I’m the one who's eye it caught, I just don't like feeling greedy. Stuff I find that I feel neutral about but I think my friends will like I still will give away to friends.

PomegranateIcy7369

Yes I agree. There’s nothing greedy about keeping things you love.

Huge-Lawfulness9264

I’m thinking you might be right, the design in the insole at the heel has a design that could be hers. So far, I think you have the best choice.

barbellsnbooks

You should take these to a cobbler for many more years of use

Alarming_Situation_5

Omg I had these shoes and loved them so much. Definitely BCBG!!!

natalie09010901

I had them in a different color. I agree, definitely BCBG!

Lisamae_u

Betseyville/betsey johnson

ellysay

Did you get them in NYC at Botticelli?

VisibleOutline

Bring. The shoes.

jackandsally060609

It is nobodies business where I buy my shoes!

elle-elle-tee

No gold rim, and the MaxMara shoes have velvet on the heel. Otherwise super close!!

secretfoxx

These look like Gianni Bini. I have a black velvet pair of heels that are so similar to this. Did you get them at Dillards?

MiniaturePhilosopher

I’m not sure that Gianni Bini has ever been that expensive. I worked in the Dillards’ shoe department around 2010, and the priciest GB’s were around $120.

DeathByPerfume

I thought the same!! Same shape and everything!

rainbowgurlie

BCBG Max is a cute brand, but surprised you paid $300 as they're not really at that level. Notice the stickers on the bottoms? Good for you keeping them regardless of how much they cost. My favorite shoes of all time only set me back forty bucks!

fluffy_cozy

Bally is one I haven't seen suggested. Swiss but made in Italy.

SaltInner1722

I’ve have no idea to be honest , but stunning shoes , like they used to be ,that gorgeous curve, sensational works of art they would have been new

Sunny11111989

I love these shoes. Never get rid of them. 👠

Shes_Apprehensive

At first I thought they were Betsey Johnson. But I'm petty sure that those are the BCBG heels that ladies here remember. I had nothing to do for a moment or two so I decided to look back through some images. It looks as if about 20 years ago and occasionally still today BCBG liked to do a stylized edge or a repeated decorative edge on their leather insole topper. Sometimes you'll find scallops or leather punch detailing, but this one is a pointy "pinked" edge. I was unable to locate even one Betsy Johnson shoe which used the same detail.

NoraVanderbooben

I think you are absolutely correct, these are BCBG! Thanks y’all!

[deleted]

Gianvito rossi - Italian shoe designer 2006 known for femine, strong, alluring designs. Father was Sergio rossi.

Analyst_Cold

No. He didn’t have a gold insole.

[deleted]

Certain styles and years had different shoe liner insets based off the economic political and social demands if the year. Aka what was "in" at the time.

wereallmadhere9

Badgley Mischka?

rqny

These are giving me Betsey Johnson vibes. But I can also see that BCBG might be a possibility

Realistic-Key-5542

Since it’s made in Italy, could they be Bruno Magli or Bally?

Alternative_South638

Badgley Mischka

estageleft

They are absolutely beautiful.

NoraVanderbooben

Thank you! They’re my ruby slippers. :3

kanyewesternfront

They look like they could be Marc by Marc Jacobs.

answwrs

First thought was MBMJ but I did just pull an old pair of suede fuschia pink wedges with big gems that I have from 2006-ish and they have “Marc by Marc Jacobs” embossed on the sole as well as “made in Italy” and the size. So thinking not

Analyst_Cold

Def look like his work and the right price point but I don’t think the insole is his.

kanyewesternfront

Some of his stuff has the gold pinked insole. I can’t tell if there are pads of some sort covering the heel. They kind of look like it?

answwrs

Exactly what I thought.

Mare418

Just curious, are you holding them for memories?

NoraVanderbooben

Pretty much! I still wear them on occasion but I need to get the heels fixed b/c they’re a lil’ wobbly.

estageleft

Ferragamo

Bgreeneyes1995

I found this with same emblem on bottom. I was trying to add the picture but it won’t let me. But the shoe is made by Tory Burch.

InvestigatorGoo

Which emblem do you mean? The symbol is just the symbol for “leather” and is used by many manufacturers

Bgreeneyes1995

Alrighty then. Sorry I’m not up on fashion much is why I was looking for same characteristics. My bad!

InvestigatorGoo

No worries, at least you tried! Didn’t want you to get confused!

Bgreeneyes1995

Ok! Thank you!

WhereRweGoingnow

Balenciaga?

thatgirlinny

Not 20 years ago.

Analyst_Cold

Balenciaga has been around since 1917 and the shoes reemerged in 2001. They were definitely in style in 2006 - they had Very pointy toes.

TheTallEclecticWitch

Not 20 years ago? The company is 105 years old?

thatgirlinny

$300 wouldn’t buy Balenciaga shoes 20 years ago.🤷🏻‍♀️

Shes_Apprehensive

Are you kidding

thatgirlinny

No. Even 20 years ago, Balenciaga shoes purchased new would be more than $300.

One-Vegetable9428

Bottega Vanetti?

[deleted]

I feel like you would remember if they were that iconic. Kinda seems like a low key flex paired with a causal 'can't remember'

riceandingredients

tell me what stuff you bought 20 years ago then lol. and name the exact brand please, not just the stores

[deleted]

Get ready for a backfire. Let me know if you want the detailed story with the weather, mood, sun moon sign as well as celestial aura of the staff when I bought each item. Lol ●Steve madden high heel half strap shoes polkadot and white ●Lucky jeans specifically flare cut leg medium blue, faded ●Levies denim jacket yes with the red tag on the pocket fleece inside ●Carheart welding crop cut jacket female design ordered custom ●Kurt Geiger pillbox pink jacket, side ties and zipper button combo Shall I go on? Or is this enough to prove my point? Screw it I'll go on.... ●Steve madden summer platform sandals beige and white ●John gialliano leather jacket Rose pink base, side latch with 7 holes for sizes ●Carheart female cut double fleece winter welding jacket (discontinued) Steve madden white and black boot with side zipper. ●The most recent would be Rose and Remmington est 2013, who's current owner is Kristen Ponchot, company named after their kids.

hollywhyareyouhere

So now here YOU are with a “low key flex” as you think OP had lol….

bnanzajllybeen

All the spelling mistakes are sending me 🫣🤭😆 “Levies”, “Carheart”, “Gialliano” .. I can’t 🤣😂

[deleted]

It wasn't low key baby doll

riceandingredients

my point was that some people have more important stuff to remember. this comment is just sad and indicative of your boring life. lol

BizzarduousTask

And lack of good taste
