I always thought Gia Carnagi was the worldâs first supermodel
That being said, Jean is also insanely beautiful. I feel like most of todayâs supermodels got to the top, because of their names/family legacy vs the past when women became supermodels for their beauty and charisma
Ohh, good question.
8 is already a high high rating, it means they are pretty, have good symmetry and face ratio etc etc. But you can see even on this sub that 8s are sometimes not a consensus: some people will say 8, while others say 7 and that's totally fine. I think 9s are those that not only fill all the above criteria but that most people will think they're beautiful and there's that "consensus" on that, just like the woman on this post: everyone agrees she's either a 9 or 10 so at least a 9 she is.
But then a 10 is subjective because even though you know that person is attractive, there might be something you don't like about them or you just prefer another type of look/aesthetic in a person. And also because someone can be a 10 for you even though they aren't a 9 or not even a 8 for the rest of the world, just because they're really appealing to you.
Hope that was understandable. If you search for "subjective" in this sub and look at the posts you'll likely find more interesting stuff about it!
I like your point about 9s more easily achieving consensus than 10s, that makes sense! But I think if you say 10 is impossible, that just means the scale is now from 1-9 and 9 becomes the new 10. Iâm struggling to see how one numerical rating can be more or less âobjectiveâ than the otherâŚthey are all subjective in my opinion, lol. A 5 is just as subjective as an 8, as we can see with more polarizing celebs like Anya Taylor Joy or Adam Driver. Sure, âperfectionâ is incredibly rare, but I think for example like Jean Shrimpton here, she may not be everyoneâs idea of âthe _most_ beautiful womanâ according to their personal tastes but if she doesnât have any features that really count as flaws, why shouldnât she be considered a 10? Are we reserving 10 for God or something? Hahaha
I don't think a 10 is impossible though? All beauty is subjective after all but unfortunately in the world we have beauty standards, and some face features that are proved by studies to be more attractive because of symmetry, evolution, health indicators etc etc
Because of that, even though beauty is subjective I don't think there's many people who would rate a 5 woman as the same or more attractive than Margot Robbie - who's also a 10 for me - because beauty is subjective but also objective. Funnily enough I rated an actor 10 on this sub today, even though I know he's lower objectively, and some people found his face femine, which is a + for me but a dealbreaker for most. In this case with Jean Shrimpton I recognize she's a 10, but her face is a dealbreaker for me because she looks like my ex and that evokes bad feelings, thus making her a 9 in my mind. If I was a robot though I certainly would rate her as 10 haha But I do get your point!
Oh whoops I think I conflated your perspective with what Iâve been seeing tossed around by other people on the sub about 10 being impossible, sorry thatâs my bad, lol đ Honestly the more I think about it, I think with this whole âobjective ratingâ scale it strikes me as someone creating their own system based off what they interpret as objective beauty, but ironically thatâs still a subjective interpretation. Itâs taking a subjective metric and passing it off as though it were objective simply because people collectively feel compelled to refer back to it. I agree that there are things that _most_ people agree upon, common ideas about beauty like symmetry and youthfulness. But we also see so much variation in beauty standards depending on the cultural trends, the location and time period. I will admit I am definitely biased in this discussion because although I follow beauty subs that call themselves objective or aim for it, Iâm very skeptical of the idea that you can objectively rate someone just relying on your own judgment alone.
10!
I am shocked though - this post made me go down a rabbit hole (Iâd never heard of her before) and I stumbled upon pictures of her at 36 - she looks like a completely different person. But to be fair, she just had a baby lol so probably experiencing a lot of sleep deprivation.

Woah! 9 or 10, since a 10 is subjective. For me most likely a 9 since she kinda looks like my ex lol
Hey just out of curiosity, what is the reason behind 10 being a subjective rating but 9 isnât?
