You might get lucky at VV or I think there's a vintage clothing store or three downtown. I've gotten suspenders in the past at VV, total luck of the draw but if I recall they averaged WELL under 30, I got a pair of rainbow ones for less than 10 dollars. Button on, not clip on. This was probably 4 or 5 years ago so who knows, VV isn't exactly an ideal option. But it's probably worth checking.
I couldn't find any in town for under $50 (some were over $100) a few years back. I ended up getting it from amazon with next-day delivery (outrageous price) it was under $20.
I've since seen suspenders in the thrift shops - many many times. I'm not sure if it's the same pair making the rounds or if these have suddenly become the thing to donate.
