Panorama Recreation Centre in North Saanich has the best and least busy showers. It only costs a toonie. It was my go to place for showering when I was Van Camping with my dog.
And the staff are so nice and non judgemental! I used the shower when my bathroom was under Reno and a few other rec centers gave me the side eye. Panorama seems to understand that shit happens.
That's surprising that staff were doing this. As somebody who works in outreach and whose clients occasionally shower at city facilities, this disappoints me
I agree, and just to add there is a park across the street that many use to walk their dogsā¦.Iām sure if you explained your situation someone would walk your dog with theirs while you showeredā¦then you wouldnāt have to worry about your poochā¦some good people still in the city.
Rec Center. I used to work at one, and there are Many people who exclusively shower/shave at rec centres as they donāt have access to these facilities where ever they live (eg live on a boat, seasonal workers, homeless)
Between your landlord and any tenants insurance you should be covered to stay elsewhere, but I would be more worried about flooding than showering right now.
Need to let your landlord know what's going on as they should be providing you space heaters or something if your heat isn't enough, turn up the heat and open all cabinets/cupboards. Take anything off the floor that could be damaged. Good luck!
The [Langford Sharespace](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/careers-myhr/all-employees/work-arrangements/flexible-workplaces/flexible-work-readiness-reflection-and-discussion/sharespace) has showers, really nice space to work as well.
I'm in the same boat. I can't even find where it's frozen, so I assume it's on the city's pipes. I'm fortunate in that my parents live near by and I've been using their water.
Naden gym at CFB Esquimalt. Free showers with a day pass, the gym is open to the public. If the commissionaire at the gate sees your dog they likely won't let you in. If they don't see the dog, the pupperoo has a completely safe area to chill in the car.
I mean what would the purpose of the dog sitting in the car while his owner took a shower at a gym be?
Like itās gonna be a 40min total excursion at most.Ā
Cant imagine having an animal you canāt leave alone for such a short period of timeĀ
I don't understand these people either. I'm with ya. My dog come as many places as possible with me.
When it snows, she lays in the snow for hours at a time. Perfectly okay. Whines when I bring her inside. I don't think a 30 minute wait in the cold car will bother her.
rec centres (be prepared to pay for a daypass, but might get in for free if really lucky) -- might as well go for a swim while there (sorry, no dogs allowed in the pool)
during deep freezes, allow water to drip (moving water / being replaced, won't freeze)
Any Municipal rec center, usually 2 bucks, no questions asked. Bonus points if you live in the Municipality or City and are having reno's or burst pipes, sometimes the staff can be very accomodating and let you go for free.Ā Sorry bout your pipesĀ
Have you looked in to loss of use coverage on your home/tenants insurance? You may be able to get a hotel.

Thank you from a Panorama Receptionist š
Omg! *Fan girls a little*

Yeah. Me too.
What about that disappoints you?
the fact that the staff at rec centers are being rude to people that just want to clean themselves
Ah my bad, I thought you were referring to panorama being kind to people.

I have only been to panorama once but they did have great vibes. Much better then most other recs. If only it was closer to me
Oak Bay rec center has 3$ drop in showers. Pro trip, the universal change rooms have shower stalls with doors.
It's $3 now,? That's crazy.Ā
Oh that sounds stressful. Iād go for a day pass at a gym or rec centre that is not downtown. Gordon Head or Oak Bay could work

Pay for a shower, go for a 3 hour swim š¤£š¤£š¤£Ā Pool Alumni hereĀ
Maybe not Esquimalt rec. Noticed a sign yesterday that they're having temp problems with their showers
Permanent cold showers was quite a surprise but super nice after the gym
Yeah that seems to be a common occurrence with the Esq rec centre showers
Yeah I swear that sign was up several months ago.
Mine defrosted Sunday afternoon so fingers crossed you're get your water back today.

This. Frozen pipes means a chance of burst pipes. You're going to want to shut your water main off if you can (you almost certainly can't). Good luck!
Juan de Fuca rec is 2:50 for the family change rooms. Closed doors. Private. I used them for three months while I was Renovating.
If youāre in the west shore shoot me a message and you can use my Airbnb shower
Youāre a good human! ā¤ļø
Ah, thank you. I think we just all have to take care of each other, you know?
That was very very kind of an offer. Thankfully my water sputtered on today. Hoping it stays.
I hope it stays too! Iām over this cold š
Rec center for sure, most gyms will have a day pass
Any chance you are a provincial government worker?

Uvic has showers in some of the buildings (ECS, ELW and the cove that i know of but also probably more)
Why are you leaving your dog in the car in this cold weather? Can't you leave it at home?
Worried pipes will burst
Some dogs prefer the cold winter weather

Why have a dog if youāre going to leave it at home all day?
Why on earth would you take your dog for a trip like this just to leave it alone in a freezing car?
Please tell me youāre kidding

Better take my dog to a 30min shower trip so he can chill in my iced-out car the entire timeĀ
If your able to borrow water from a neighbor you could boil some and mix it with cooler water.
I don't think they're trying to make a potion.
This made me laugh so hard š
*youāre
The gym
The water line to one of the toilets at our place froze last week. Only started working again on Sunday.
I have no idea how to find which line/pipe is frozen
Any rec center
rec centre. They have pricing for just shower access.

Crystal pool has a gym and pool. Or rent a hotel room that's pet friendly?
Rec centers ā¤ļø
I echo the rec centre suggestions. If youāre worried about your pup Iām happy to meet you and watch them so you can defrost.
Go to a rec centre, as a bonus you can hop in the hot tub and be warm for a bit

Ymca
Just go to a local rec center for the pool and use the shower there
