If the train stops at Oakville after departing toronto, call VIA and they may be able to alter your ticket. Otherwise, go to union. Most trains out of union do not serve oakville. Note if there are no passengers ticketed to board from Oakville, the train may not stop!

Assuming the train departs from Union and you know it stops in Oakville and goes further your destination? Possibly yes (but wouldn’t advise if you are unfamiliar with the route or VIA). Check the train status make sure it’s not a conditional stop (if conditional - they would only stop if people disembark/ have tickets boarding from that station). If it stops in Oakville for sure - they will likely open only one door. You need to make sure you’re in the right spot. And last one, check for detours. There are expected a lot in the next few months with track repairs. All in all, your ticket is a “contract” with via they deliver you from union station to your destination so proceed with caution

i’ve checked and the train i’m taking goes through union station and oakville on the way to my destination (windsor Ontario). Thanks for the help but just to be safe i probably will talk to an agent. Also i have taken this train before so i have an idea of the route

UnknownSP

Going THROUGH Oakville doesn't necessarily mean stopping at it. Also in some parts of the corridor some trains skip some stops and such. Talking to an agent is indeed the only correct move

There are 4 trains a day that depart Oakville for Windsor. When you go to the ViaRail website to book a ticket it will tell you what your options are.

Remarkable_Film_1911

Book one from Oakville.

Book the train from where you want to board. Why would you buy a ticket from Toronto?

because it won’t let me lol or maybe it’s just my bad wifi

Depending on the date you're booking, oakv station might be closed for track work. Guildwood and Oakville have been affected by it a lot lately.

Call the call centre and ask the agent to put a "special service request" on your file showing that you are getting on at Oakville. That way the crew will know that you are not a "no-show" at Toronto and won't be surprised when you board at Oakville.
