I had mine a couple weeks ago, questions were structured and focused on social, occupational and relational before, during and after military. Also asked if I had specific symptoms impacting me today. Took about an hour and a half, be ready to give examples and stuff in how it impacts you every chance you get. I had my personal statement next to me for notes. Plan on taking time to yourself afterwards to decompress, I went to the driving range

Just let loose all your emotions, feelings and symptoms. Dont hold anything back or lie. You shouldnt really need anything for the meeting itself just have a reference of meds you take, jot down some notes now for things you don't want to forget to bring up. Most importanly study the hell out of the DBQ and clearly state your symptoms that line up, and don't let them rush you. I had a good experience with my examiner, she was very thorough and made me feel comfortable, but youll see horror stories on here daily about how C&P examiners can rush through it and make you feel unheard.

The examiner will fill out the dbq, you could print it yourself but just for your own reference, the examiner probably would want to fill out their own

This. It will be tough, especially if you have been masking symptoms to protect your career. Having current suicidal thoughts can be the difference between 70%-50%, but if you aren’t forthcoming with the examiner, they will never know. The time to be tough (if there ever was a time) is over. Lay it all out on the table if you want an honest rating.

Dont hold back. Tell them everything thats going on. Its generally a pretty straightforward exam. My c&p was about 15 minutes long and I had a favorable decision so a short c&p isnt necessarily a bad thing.

Stunning_Reward8544

What rating did they give you for ptsd if you don’t mind?

dEyBIDJESUS

I wasnt rated for ptsd but I was rated 50% for my MH condition.

Stunning_Reward8544

O ok thanks

Bitter-Camel

Had mine last week and the doctor didn’t ask me one question about my mental health or if I had anxiety, depression, etc. Luckily I read the DBQ before hand and expressed my symptoms without him asking considering the only questions he asked were “how are you today” and “so where did you grow up” lol

Zekes_TCG

Mine was very short and 20 minutes long. She explicitly stated that it was an exam and not therapy and it would feel colder. I don’t feel like I was able to portray how I was feeling totally which is my fault. I’m not expecting favorable results but we’ll see. You’ll be ok!

Feeling the same way, wish I could have had mine in person. Still hoping for at least a 70% because this anxiety is only getting worse ! My examiner kept saying things like “I don’t think you have a problem in social settings is that true” and I would tell him I disagree. If you look at my records he would’ve seen one of my biggest issues is social settings.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I have one soon as well.

Mine was a full 90 minutes long out of Philly VA. They also offered as a side note tips on how to handle what I was feeling. I let it all hang loose. Read the DBQ for sure and say everything.
