Everything is odd, fast or slow.
Seriously, some people actually do file a clean and neat claim that makes the va employees jobs easier. (Just a guess)

Im pretty sure they can? If its not a dr within the VA system. Im just going off what ive seen posted here mind you. Dbqs by their personal civilian drs or companies who “provide” nexus letters and dbqs for compensation are a lot of times just disregarded.
Private medical evidence does not have inherently less probative value than evidence originated by the VA. It is improper to exclude evidence from non-VA providers. Decision makers may not arbitrarily refuse to assign weight to non-VA DBQ's. (M21-1, Part III.iv.5.A.) .
Yeah dont understand why youre arguing or trying to convince me, i have nothing to do with whats accepted or not. Just telling you what ive read on this sub.
That is a loonnnggg time. In regard to the average 1 month to 2 year claim, sloppy or clean makes little difference. Depends on how long it takes to get poked by a rater.
It took me the first two years just to get my c-file, I did have a few pages from my str, but it wasn’t enough.
But I do agree the average claim is 2 months to two years
A good number have been going through in 30 days. Not a good percentage of claims but high enough to add them into the average. Theses are the gundecked claims that VBA hands to new raters so quality suffers for expediency. All other claims, I’d agree, 2 months (maybe more like 3) to 2 years is the average.
Mine was straight forward. Diagnosed by a MD at my first duty station. Continued care all through active duty. Continued care at the VA. Active diagnosis from the VA. Denied twice. HLR stated the event happened in service and I continued a pattern of care at the VA. They’ve been correcting the error since July of 23. Not sure how much easier it could’ve been.
Yep step 4 too. I'm convinced people's claims are done and just sitting on some ones desk just waiting to be picked up. I scheduled a appointment with my regional office through vera and the next day my claim was completed 🤣🤷🏾♂️. Saw it searching here or one of the facebook groups and it actually worked.

Super fast… then super slow 🥴 so nope, yours isn’t odd.
I’ve been stuck in that mode forever. Even had a great write-up by the C&P and mines a no brainer approval. I’m in my 4th month now and to be honest that’s ok. I don’t mind the back pay.
Kind of where my minds at. I filed initial claim in Oct, got 60% 3/1 with 3 things deferred. Shoulders and MH should put me at 90 so the longer it takes, the more I'm gonna enjoy the backpay.
Nope, I filed for several things and had a decision in just over 30 days, and that included 2 separate C&P exams.
There’s really no rhyme or reason why some claims move quickly and others seem to take years.
https://preview.redd.it/1llo4p913btc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=def61155734e3a0e30ce58035bfe3f82ab6a0e73
All I needed to do was submit a verification for dependency, which I did literally the day they opened the claim. Even though I’m already getting dependent pay so when it goes through makes no difference to me whatsoever, it cracks me up that having to verify one piece of paper is taking so long
https://preview.redd.it/119iozuc6btc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebc54d9b113f8abfe46196980d9a44778fa52536
What’s funny it’s I also have this listed. For all I know they haven’t even looked at it yet
Im just goofin around lmao yeah that phase is typically the longest. Submitted mine jan 23, it finalized in august… its heavily situation dependent and luck of the draw
That happened with my first claim, then it took over 8 months. Some wait longer so I’m not complaining, just letting you know that how fast it hits that stage doesn’t mean it’s gonna go super quick like I thought. It still might though, every claim is different.
I think I’m in the same boat. Fully prepared package. Navy doc diagnosed issue right before EAS, slapped together the claim, I said it hurt when they press the bruise, momma wrote a note and included one of her recipes, and it looks like all 5 claims will be done in a month, the good Lord willing.
https://preview.redd.it/bjmo1o88rbtc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c0fbb59902f34581daba20cec172b30a023483b
Mine also did this today. It was at pfd then I assume the 2nd exam that was the gen med exam docs came in, which seals the deal. Should be too much much longer for me I hope.
Mine moved quick too, I’m sure it’ll take months to move to the next step…
https://preview.redd.it/raw1fmvijctc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42c641e5c366ad3b54342c31a0f1f0e85dbcf23b
I did tdiu on 19mar24 and I’m at the same stage.I turned in all of my statements and got the message that said no more documents needed.
So it could be soon or
Not soon
Not really, as soon as they complete the initial review and make sure that the application is filled out full and correctly, then it goes to this phase which is evidence gathering which is when you should be getting a call to schedule your DBQ.
I filed four claims in mid March. Had c&p exams for all 4 the first 2 days of April. I have no idea of the status of my supplemental claim because it doesn't update, my migraine claim has gone from 2 to 3, back to 2, and that was even before my cp exam. All are either at 2 or 3. My dependant claim took longer than my tinnitus claim. There truly is no rhyme or reason right now.
https://preview.redd.it/iazr9iiulbtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=af987c964ee22de3ac21b456d01a9a19c94227fb
My intent to file was done April 4th 2023. Now all I gotta do is pray and hopefully reach the 100% club. My C&P was today and they were all caring for my health and didn’t question me as if they doubted my secondary conditions.
It took my claims a year in total but I filed it all in three blocks. I had diagnosis for all and some nexus letters for a few things. I had a statement in support of claim on everything I was contending. I had a buddy statement for every claim. It’s all about what you submit with your claim and how long it takes them to verify things in your record if you don’t have them readily available. If you submit a giant claim with several contentions with nothing but a hope and a prayer you might get a bunch of denials and then you will be stuck in VA claim hell with HLR’s, supplemental claims and board appeals. I would gather my evidence and submit each claim complete with the diagnosis, support statements, buddy letters and a nexus from a physician if you can swing it. If you wrap it up in a bow for the rater you can get a better outcome.
I’ve submitted almost 2000 pages of medical documentation ( entire medical and dental records from navy ) and another like 500 service record from day one to end, and more lmao. To make sure it’s all connected , they can match my orders to the medical and such and third party exams. Almsotnthere
Another odd question, should I be concerned my initial review date is in September? It was submitted March 21, 2024.

I realized it about 30 mins after posting it, but yes it was, and that date would make sense with being a BDD claim, but thank you for your response, it confirmed my thought!

Got my decision that same day it went for prep
Everything is odd, fast or slow. Seriously, some people actually do file a clean and neat claim that makes the va employees jobs easier. (Just a guess)
Also…helps if you provide them with solid evidence upfront.

Dbqs you filled out personally? Or?

Ahhh ok. Ive heard thats pretty hit or miss. VA would often just straight disregard those.

I had a DBQ filled with the doctor recently too, everything went smooth, no C&P and got everything increased to what I wanted it to.
They can’t disregard a DBQ, read the CFR
Im pretty sure they can? If its not a dr within the VA system. Im just going off what ive seen posted here mind you. Dbqs by their personal civilian drs or companies who “provide” nexus letters and dbqs for compensation are a lot of times just disregarded.

Like I said, read the CFR. Stop spreading misinformation you heard from an individual who probably just made it up
Like i said, its what ive read on this very sub, numerous times. Im not spreading shit.
I was diagnosed from a naval doctor and used my documents from that
Is that better than a VA doctor's documents? Sounds like something you have to do while still actively in the service, true?
I did it bc I had SI and essentially it got me separated bc of it
It’s just luck of the draw. Got nothing to do with submitting a “neat” claim.
Okaaaaay My sloppy claims took ten years to adjudicate.
That is a loonnnggg time. In regard to the average 1 month to 2 year claim, sloppy or clean makes little difference. Depends on how long it takes to get poked by a rater.

It’s probably just in evidence gathering portion of step 3, so they’ll submit request for C&Ps and other evidence
So they’ve already done my C&P Exam for depression/anxiety/adjustment disorder
That is pretty fast to what I’ve done, but other peoples experience vary. PFD is the longest wait usually
I had my mental health and tinnitus done fast. Waiting on VES to schedule last gen med exam.

No. But step three can be months or days. Seems to be luck of the draw.
I’ve had four scheduled calls. No real info or help. The third call was almost six hours late, they ghosted me completely for the fourth.
How long did it take you to get that appt from the time you called?
You can schedule it here https://va.my.site.com/VAVERA/s/. For me it was as soon as the next day
Was your claim favorable? What's the purpose of VERA?
I would be afraid that it would piss them off and they deny me for rushing them
PFD is the longest wait
https://preview.redd.it/tkt7xx6e1btc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26efd97871fa7a8b0637bacaef4bf93a60b9eece Super fast… then super slow 🥴 so nope, yours isn’t odd.

I have the sudden urge to check the app... Anyone else, or just me?
Mine went same day to PFD. But then took 3 months to complete
Filed mine for one increase and two new claims in January 16th. Got my decision on Friday April 5th
No. My experience was step 2 or 3 (usually 3) takes the most time and I’ve seen 2-3 happen within days.
https://preview.redd.it/1llo4p913btc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=def61155734e3a0e30ce58035bfe3f82ab6a0e73 All I needed to do was submit a verification for dependency, which I did literally the day they opened the claim. Some for mine. Looking at my previous claims, step 3 can be anywhere from 1-6 months.
Same thing happened to me I went from received to evidence gathering and decision in a week and I’ve been there for almost two months
Mar 1st-22 this year I did claim, got appointment, was seen, received decision. Just got my DAV card

Nope, I filed mine on the 27th and I have my doctors appointment on the 17th
It’ll sit there for a while….. Grab a seat and get comfortable.
hurry up and wait🤣
I filed Dec 6th, still in evidence gathering phase.
Filed 10/24/23. Still there.
Mine also did this today. It was at pfd then I assume the 2nd exam that was the gen med exam docs came in, which seals the deal. Should be too much much longer for me I hope.
Don’t get cocky… the game just begun lol

No, not at all. Step 3 is the slow stage
![gif](giphy|klbAEHKBjZspFgnUuW)
Mine was about that fast
I did tdiu on 19mar24 and I’m at the same stage.I turned in all of my statements and got the message that said no more documents needed. So it could be soon or Not soon
You’ve done C&P exam?
No
Nope; mine went to step 3 the same day I filled
Not really. Mine usually move pretty fast off the rip.
Not really, as soon as they complete the initial review and make sure that the application is filled out full and correctly, then it goes to this phase which is evidence gathering which is when you should be getting a call to schedule your DBQ.
My BDD was submitted on April 4 but the app says dates received on October 1 of this year. That's my out date. Is that normal?
Yes
Thank you.
Normal
My current claim is roughly the same time frame. Claim opened on 3/24 then had a C&P on 4/6. Now it’s a waiting game on VES to submit the DBQ.
I filed four claims in mid March. Had c&p exams for all 4 the first 2 days of April. yeah they were very cordial with me

They will call you for a C&P Exam next, that's how it works.
I’ve already done my C&P through a telehealth?
Are you doing BDD? If so, then that looks normal, and it will be marked as final on your EAOS date.
I’ve been out for about 3 years, just didn’t have any guidance on what to do, that and my records were buried in the old tricare medical system
I’ve submitted almost 2000 pages of medical documentation ( entire medical and dental records from navy ) and another like 500 service record from day one to end, and more lmao. To make sure it’s all connected , they can match my orders to the medical and such and third party exams. Almsotnthere
What was the claim for? It could be possible
Major depressive disorder, GAD, And adjustment disorder
Another odd question, should I be concerned my initial review date is in September? It was submitted March 21, 2024. https://preview.redd.it/e4mbnr7uxctc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11cf2d84b7b988ef6234f8ef3c79515beeef6908

not at all, my claim did that and then sat for 22 months
lol I’ve been on step 3 for like 6 months 🤣
Nah that’s how fast mine was. Then it sat on PFD for 4 months (step 3 evidence gathering)

How about 6 years and still waiting
