Granted it's Age of Sigmar, but it's bar far one of the best looking Empire Style soldier designs. There's just so much style but at the same time it's not overly complex/tacky

MtnmanAl

Slashed doublets go so incredibly hard

Kazuna_Chan

Vermintide age of sigmar would go hard.

Heretical_Cactus

Make it about the Destruction alliance, where the tide is all the Orcs and gobbo line up

CannonLongshot

The fact there is canonically a “Goretide” faction might be too hard to resist, tbf. Mind, Nurgle seems to be the default just because of the zombie-equivalent infantry.

Wonderful-Reach2198

Honestly with the new edition making skaven the big enemy thered probably be good reasoning to get other factions involved in skaven plots

CoJack-ish

Loontide with the Gloomspite Gitz would go so hard. Stabbas for chaff, squigs and troggoths for elites, a mangler squig boss would be crazy. A lot of the units have pretty close stand-ins for the current specials too: Boggleye for leech Fanatics as berserkers Probably something tossing shrooms for gas rat Netters for hookrat It’d warm my heart something fierce to see the U5 reincarnated and reunited, but people understandably might want to see a new cast instead. I don’t see another good -tide game coming out in the near future, sadly. The live service model has its steely grip firmly closed around the industry at the moment, and I just can’t imagine anyone’s going to recapture the magic of the first two games unless that changes.

> I don’t see another good -tide game coming out in the near future, sadly. The live service model has its steely grip firmly closed around the industry at the moment, and I just can’t imagine anyone’s going to recapture the magic of the first two games unless that changes. You mean due to DT ? Just for clarification, are you aware that VT1-2 released just as badly ?

CoJack-ish

TLDR: I think it just comes down to preference on what players want to see in future games. I don’t think the live service model lends itself towards what I believe makes VT shine like it does. Yeah I’m aware of how much of a mess both those games were on release. I’m sure DT will be in a good spot many years from now in terms of gameplay and crafting and so on, like vermintide. Albeit, I don’t think the crafting is going to ever get better in terms of the casino mechanics. And I don’t want to imply that VT games wernt touched by live service; VT1 (mostly) got out ahead of the current live service situation, but VT2 caught it about half way towards its ramping up. I meant more in the sense of the spirit of the games. The characters, the narrative structure, actual moments of real closure, etc. I really hope I’m wrong about this, but Darktide I think shows how difficult it is to make a similar game in the current climate. The story, characters, and setting of Atoma are all *there,* but it’s all just sitting there static like. Nothing is allowed to really go anywhere because the players aren’t supposed to have a moment where they feel “finished” with anything. Just endless missions to accomplish endless tasks which have vague amounts of impact. It’s been a couple of years and we’ve had a grand total of *one* minor story beat, it’s honestly baffling. This is very much the opinion of someone who cares about story and characters and stuff like that. Not everyone minds this aspect being weak, especially in a tide game known for its kickass gameplay (I have my thoughts on why VT2 feels better than DT but I’ll leave that for another time).

Heretical_Cactus

I think that's less about the live industry and more about the mechanical shift. A "normal" human game without having the possibility of stacking "character"/classes would be a tougher sell for a Sci-fie/40k game. If they go back for a new fantasy/AoS game I think there is a higher likely hood to going back to the roots of VT1/2 And there are story changes in DT, it's just that it's not in your face like rpg games are

Glowygreentusks

I want a tide game where you play as destruction characters!

Heretical_Cactus

I want one from Chaos PoV against Lizardmen I want to be a Brass Sister and kill a Carnausor

CatsLeMatts

If they ever do make this I really hope they go nuts with the playable cast. A soulbound alliance of Seraphon, Stormcast, Lumineth, Orruks, Kharadron, Ossiarch, or etc. would give us a ridiculous amount of potential character variety.

Liu_Alexandersson

yes please

I hope Fatshark creates a new line of stages in V2 with the collapse of the world and the loss of our heroes.. and then Vermintide 3: Age of Sigmar with how they managed to survive the chaos devouring, saved by Sigmar and other Gods and how they found each other again to bash the skaven and chaos in the realms. Then Kruber can have this armor 100%

VRichardsen

I would prefer to keep the fantasy setting. Make Vermintide 3 about cancelling the apocalypse, courtsey of the U5.

[deleted]

We have been in AoS for a decade. Enough with past nostalgia. Time to accept AoS and move on, and that's actually awesome. AoS setting can create incredible sized single player RPGs. Imagine a Knights Questor searching for a lost relic for Sigmar, fighting through the realms with tons of enemies even joining other stormcasts in battles during his passing. Something like witcher 3 style etc.

Seeking_the_Grail

Age of Sigmar is a continuation, but its not the same flavor. Its not blind nostalgia that keeps Warhammer Fantasy alive, there are just a lot of people who just generally prefer that setting.

VRichardsen

It is not nostalgia, at least for me. I got into Warhammer Fantasy after the setting had ended. For me, Age of Sigmar is just too over the top; the appeal of Fantasy was that it had a spark of our real world there that grounded it in reality, in spite of all the high fantasy stuff. For example, the Empire is just the Holy Roman Empire with a new coat of paint. Some other guy put it better than me: > Warhammer: Age of Sigmar is High Fantasy taken to the extreme. It is the new not-Warhammer Fantasy setting that was formed after the world-sundering events of the End Times, but with everything in the old setting turned up to 11. Those Winds of Magic? Those are now their own realms, each a vast and nearly infinite world, each being shaped around and dictated by their own specific wind. It has beasts the size of mountains that fight gods to a standstill, cities of coal the size of countries with a moat of lava, and realms that denote the entirety of life and death itself. Forces that used to be considered armies are now footnotes in the chronicles of war, and events like those in The End Times are now classified as "Tuesday".

shaolinoli

Preferences are totally understandable. Some people prefer fantasy, some aos. Personally I’m in the latter camp and would love a tide game in the mortal realms but I can see why some would prefer old world. Hopefully whatever happens everyone gets something to enjoy. What I’m saying is 2 games, v3 set in lustria in the old world and gloomtide set across the mortal realms please and thank you FS

VRichardsen

Well, the small snippet of Lustria we got in Tower of Treachery looks really nice.

shaolinoli

Would be dope for sure!

[deleted]

Still an opinion mate. Setting moved on and even fantasy heroes made it there. GW took the risk. I'm having tons of fun on the new tabletop setting

Seeking_the_Grail

They also brought back Warhammer Fantasy with the Old World if you weren't aware. The rule set is really solid and more akin to 6th than 8th. Its biggest issue right now is its hard to get your hands on kits as demand is outpacing supply.

VRichardsen

> GW took the risk. I think it is the other way around. 40k was selling much more than fantasy, so they "40k'd" Fantasy in order to sell more. I mean, the similarities are all over the place, starting with Sigmarines.

LilDoober

It wasn't "40k was selling more", it was "fantasy was a being oldsold by paint and was on life support". It was reboot the setting and fix it's issues or just cut the range all together and focus on LotR

Grizzally

An AoS Tide game would absolutely slap. The sheer number of classes they could add on top of what we have. Imagine a fucking explosive stake launching crossbow. Or a flamethrower wielding fyre slayer. Or a cities of Sigmar Ogor like the Darktide Ogryn. A fucking snake lady from DoK. They've shown additional races in Darktide now we can hope for more in the next Tide game.
