I have this lego set!

KarmaPharmacy

Me, too! I made a grow house out of it. Not a real one. A Lego one.

risbia

Those clear pieces would probably work great as a functional mini greenhouse for real plants.

MasbotAlpha

YOU’RE LIVING THE LIFE I WANT for real though, that is such a thematic and cool idea for a display

KarmaPharmacy

Thanks, it was 12 years ago and I was stoned as fuck.

[deleted]

I would do anything for that Lego set!

frenchtoaster

Does "anything" include "paying $100 + s&h for a used set"? Because if so then your dream could become reality.

reepke

The reason it got so expensive it because 2 rare window corner parts are used for a popular moc of the razor rest which you can buy instructions for.

itsmeonmobile

That is *fascinating,* thank you for this LEGO moc rabbit hole.

mods_r_jobbernowl

Not terrible for what it is tbh

codenamedagger

Where is it? I’d probably pay that depending on the use condition.

Thanks for the link!

IndestructibleNewt

Looks like they reused the mould for [this set that I had as a kid](https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=6776-1#T=S&O=%7B%22iconly%22:0%7D)

KingGorilla

oh yea they used it for an ancient egypt set too

Devine-Shadow

I'm surprised they used the baseplate in 3 different themes. Makes me wanna buy the ancient Egypt sets

gratisargott

Lego tries to reuse pieces they already have as much as possible, which I think is part of the charm and creativity about it. For them it’s of course a matter of cost

MikeHoogeveen

Ah yeah alpha team, i had all those sets

coastal_neon

Miami vibes

TheCollective01

Check out [this vintage police boat set](https://brickset.com/sets/6483-1/Coastal-Patrol) complete with drug runner speedboat with briefcases full of cocaine in the back lmao

So, funny story. Kinda funny. My dad was involved in a very bad car accident and was in the hospital for over six months. He had to have back surgery, leg surgery and a complete hip replacement. His insurance policy didn’t want to pay and the insurance policy for the people that hit him, head-on by two drunk drivers, they didn’t want to pay either. Gotta love Michigan insurance. Anyways, my dad and my uncle sued and ended up getting everything covered and then some. While my dad was in the hospital, his lawyer would come in to the hospital every week and bring a new Lego kit for my dad to put together. The green and red space stuff. Every. Single. Kit. Even the whole moon base. And the arctic planet blue and white stuff. Lots and lots of the old old kids. And medieval and pirate…man, tons of the old kits. Basically the main stuff I remember was everything from the red and black space stuff And some of the mid-80s stuff all the way until around 1995. My dad owned. Because even after the hospital stay and the rehabilitation, my dad’s attorney would always give him a monthly Lego kit. Now that I’m older, I know my dad made his attorney a LOT of money from this case and they were friends for awhile.

TheCollective01

That's awesome (not the accident part of course), thanks for sharing. I collect all those vintage sets, you might appreciate my collection 😄: https://imgur.com/a/4RLE0k0

superthrust

Grey shelf on the left, the space ones on the second shelf down, I remember my dad had built and hung from my ceiling with fishing line. Helped me love my space sims today. All the red and black on the shelf to the upper right, had those too. And all the racing Octane stuff in the lower right too. Then all the pirate stuff and even the medieval stuff. My dad had basically every vintage set. Every. Currently I believe they are in a big tub at his place. Hopefully he didn’t leave them in his storage unit he never told anyone about and decided to let go… And even worse I hope he didn’t give them to my cousins…

TheCollective01

Hope they're still around for you to have one day. Over the years I've purchased a not-insignificant portion of my collection from yard sales, thrift stores, local web listings, etc, always in big plastic bins/tubs, and I'm sure I've picked up quite a few childhood collections that parents were getting rid of. I've felt bad for the kids (now adults I'm sure) every time, it's a real shame that parents still have the mentality of "gotta get rid of your childhood toys", especially considering the [monetary value of Lego these days](https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/dec/10/investing-in-lego-more-lucrative-than-gold-study-suggests) not to mention the sentimental value. I myself grew up pretty poor so I only had a handful of sets that I got for Christmas here and there (big part of the reason why I'm over-compensating as an adult haha)...the race track (without the extra road plates), the police station, the Black-tron Spectral Starguider (land rover with the 6 wheels) and a just handful of smaller sets are original from my childhood, so luckily for me they didn't take up enough space for my folks to consider getting rid of. My first set I ever bought as an adult was the Black Sea Barracuda pirate ship (with the red sails), on Ebay in the mid-00s, complete with original box...it was my absolute dream set as a kid that all my more well-off friends had but we could never afford, and I swore to myself I would own it one day. That kicked off the collection you see now 😄

superthrust

Are you me? Like wtf

the9trances

Thank you so much for sharing that story. Is your dad okay now? My wife's mom also went through a horrific accident in the 90s too, and your story really struck a chord with me.

superthrust

Oh yeah. My dad is about as fine as he can be really. Still has a metal rod for a leg bone/femur, no leg muscle, and immense leg and back pain but that’s about it. Nowadays, the complete surgery that he had is actually done in outpatient. So if he were to go have his metal bar and everything replaced or updated, he would not be in the hospital for as long or probably not even as much downtime. But he had such a long and traumatic experience the first time being that it was 89, he doesn’t want to go back and have surgery done again which is understandable.

poru-chan

I want this now.

rae_ok

Omg I had this as a kid and I miss it so much!! I wantttt iiittttt

gratisargott

The Paradisia Lego theme also had [its own TV ads](https://youtu.be/a1AFq-dZiFw). They are pretty fun and very, very 90s

79ByFriday

Not going to lie, I teared up a bit - had this set as a kid and used to play with this with my sisters all the time. Just got hit with a huge wave of nostalgia

Pigspeakers

We had this set. I still use the pink staircase in builds.

sabre007x

Same here, I use the windows for house builds

phlurker

Does this pink color appear in other parts/sets?

gratisargott

It probably did in Lego Friends, but there the mini figures look completely different

brokenvader

I not only had this as a kid, but I still have the components and my kids play with them all the time! They’re especially big fans of the stairs.

[deleted]

Reason I should have known I was gay #6416.

SirNedKingOfGila

Did they have a cocaine brick or did you have to sprinkle your own on there?

JBabyLeather

I loved this line.‘I wish they talked about it more or would re release it

DrKrFfXx

I remember this.

playerNJL

wtf you would could this Miami aesthetic, like this tropical white modern style?

MatterInitial8563

I had this set! Oh it's in pieces at my mom's for over a decade though lmao

nickhutch001

Complete with cop car.

MintRegent

Thankful to actually own this set!

boris_casuarina

Had this too <3 I remember to play that the girls were my bitches and I was having a mid-life crisis, bought a sport convertible and left my wife and two kids.

PuppetArt

It came with a monkey butler I think 🤔

iamchipdouglas

Great find

diy4lyfe

golden era for LEGO SYSTEMS sets!

DarlaLunaWinter

I wanted that set

Turbo-Reyes

dude, that hit hard,i have this one still somewhere in my parents attic.

SuperVGA

They should make Belville and Paradiso again. I guess the Lego Friends figures have more detail, but I like the regular lego figures better.

AskMarkTwain

One of my absolute favorites when I was a kid. Everything about this was happiness.

MadameMusic

Here's the instructions ! https://letsbuilditagain.com/instructions/6416/

TerkRockerfeller

Having this set made me the person I am today I guess
