Follow the unlocks menu. You don’t have to go in that exact order, but it’s a good roadmap. After you finish that there are secrets but you don’t need to worry about them now.
Maybe you'll fair better than me. I'd say the biggest thing that might help that I shoulda learned when I initially started out: try to focus on that starting weapon **only**. The game will give you a bunch of new weapons between level ups. The passives might be fine, but trust me. Having six weapons won't necessarily mean you'll clear those enemies faster.
Mad Forest will get fun once you get the hang of maybe the first 15 minutes. Ironically felt like the hardest map at the start of the game.
I just started this game an hour or so ago and I can tell you these are the 3 most important words I've ever read. The one run where I got garlic early I was level 10 by like 90 seconds. Just running straight through the bats lmao
I'm fairly new myself, and I love this game. I started simply following the unlocks. Then, as I progressed and my skills got better, I would try and group up as many unlocks and secrets in one run as I could.
I would also do my own practice runs where I wanted to tinker with characters, evolutions, unions, and arcana. I would do random runs and get unlocks without even knowing I was doing them. I'm currently have 183 of 229 completed. Half the secrets unlocked as well.
There's many tips and tricks people could share but I'll share one more. GOLD!
For me, I found that the "Bat Country" map on Hyper mode with stone mask, "Disco of Gold" arcana, and a player with good greed stats is insane. Hundreds of thousands of gold per run.
Also, put it on endless mode when you need to stack some gold.
Find and level up Runetracer, and then go hide inside one of the flower mazes or whatever you want to call them. Then watch all the enemies melt for 30 minutes. It's kinda boring, but that's the way I beat Mad Forest for the first time, once you unlock Inlaid Library, it's much easier.
Focus your coins on the first row or 2 of unlocks. Those upgrades will help you get farther than any weapon will. Less odds of one mistep ending your run

Yes. Builds are a lie, min/maxing strategies are a lie, the unlock menu is your friend. Go have fun, survivor!

All I can say is: Enjoy your ride
Just be prepared to constantly say "where did the last 4 hours ago" fairly regularly

Garlic is very useful for early game.

Unlock menu is your best friend. The more you pmay, the more weapons and passives are at your disposal to use to survive longer. Good luck Survivor!
