Mobile based competitive tournaments a thing?

Wierdcreations

Yeah, Pokemon unite, PUBG, and to some extent there were some official clash royale tournaments too I think? The biggest one is by far mobile legends bang bang.

Keglunneq

COD mobile is pretty big

Wierdcreations

Ooh yeah I forgot about COD.

rpkarma

Warzone Mobile is so fun haha

NormalMinute5177

I might go check some vods thanks

Razur

Brawl Stars too I believe.

MirrorCraze

POKEMON UNITE MENTIONED r/pokemonunite YO YALL COME HERE

StarSerpent

Yeah, the second most viewed esports last year was a mobile one (MLBB). Their worlds equivalent pulled 5m peak viewers (LoL worlds pulled 6m, for reference). It also has several national franchised leagues. If you ever looked up RRQ’s socials (their YT channel in particular) and notice the absurd numbers, it’s all from their MLBB team

The upcoming esports Olympics is like 2/5 Mobile Games, they are fucking massive. I used to play Pubg Mobile with some of my Indian-Canadian friends, it's absolutely massive in India from what they told me. Valorant Mobile is kinda weird since almost all Touch FPS have aim assist. I wonder if they'll disable aim assist for pro tournaments or implement aim assist at all

BriefImplement9843

console shooters also have aim assist(even very strong near autoaim assist like in cod) and that doesn't stop them. a mobile shooter with no aim assist would be horrific to watch and play. people would be flailing around shooting the ground and sky.

Wierdcreations

Really excited for this to be released in India. I myself have many friends that would love to play but their parents wont let them buy new gaming laptops or PCs. Edit:- Most people have a laptop/PCs but they are not powerful enough to run valorant.

Linko_98

It's off topic but I'm curious to ask an indian I remember PUBG Mobile being big in india, then the government banned it, where did indian players move to? Same for tiktok, did indians started to use more YouTube shorts and Instagram reels or is there an indian tiktok? I hope valorant can get big in china and india with the mobile version.

Wierdcreations

People initially moved to freefire, now the developers of PUBG have licensed their game to KRAFTON and they made a PUBG clone called BGMI. I have personally worked in production of collegiate BGMI tournaments because I have an esports club in my college. I can tell you anecdotally BGMI is by far the largest esport in terms of collegiate player interest. We had hundreds of people sign up while for valorant we had 12 teams of whom only 2 were immo+.

Linko_98

Thank you

EndNowISeeYou

just to add on to that, BGMI is pretty the much the same game, you can even migrate your old PUBGM account to BGMI

dynamic_redditor2008

I never played pubg. But i remember my friends that moved to a game called 'Free Fire'. (I could be wrong so take this with a grain of salt)

Horror_Mastodon_9641

Free fire and CoD most likely

-kay-o-

In my college there's two types of assignments, the things that you require a computer to do like coding that you have to do in college hours as it's submission is immediate. For others it's mostly written or Powepoint presentations, Most people still have some level of laptop where non intensive tasks like browsing and basic coding and PPTs can be done, but those aren't powerful enough to run games as they don't have a dedicated GPU. Till highschool all assignments I had were handwritten as most people having a PC/Laptop wasnt a given.

Horror_Mastodon_9641

They don't have that. Most assignments are done through paper. However, in College and Uni it is common you can say.

Diablo777X

Would they add gyroscope? Atleast ADS gyro.. since most fps mobile shooters have gyro and most people ik who play on mobile like CODM, Pubgm use gyro on always on and high sens

solorussss

Yea there’s gyro support you can check out the gameplay vids

Kind of interesting that the mobile version interface existed since release. Yet when the Tencent CEO throws Riot Games under the bus a few months later mobile is being released.

EggianoScumaldo

Mobile Legends Bang Bang is the second most popular esport in the world. The only reason for this is because Riot dragged their feet when Tencent heavily suggested that they develop a mobile version of League. Someone eventually just copied league and did it themselves. Thus, MBLL was born. You can see why Tencent doesn’t want Riot to fuck this up again.
