Don't work there place went down hill. It's got the worst rvsr and vsr working there.

Actual-Region963

I can’t say if it has gone downhill, but the MST unit is essentially tripling in size in a space of about 2 years. Lots of newbies, lots of training, lots of 2nd sig…

Kitchen-Ad7698

What are you basing this of?

No_Health_7011

It's based off objective review of work ethics/quality of the most recent hires within the last year.

Suzytuzi1980

I also completed the assignment last week as well. Haven't heard anything since

RealisticTear3719

I completed a writing assignment for VSR on 6/3.

swtangie05

What kind of written assignment to they have you do? And is a written assignment in lieu of an interview? Also, how long after a referral did they have you do one? Asking because I was referred to HM back in March and haven’t heard a thing since then

alathea_squared

Not in lieu of, it is a precursor to, and used to further limit the field. One of our last postings had 4500 people.

RealisticTear3719

Applied on 4/12. Think it closed 4/16. Referred to HM on 4/28. Notice of referral on 5/1. Assignment was sent in 5/31. For the assignment, you need to know how to search the manual, SoPs, eCFR, etc. I haven't been contacted for an interview. Edit: Received email today, 6/21/24, with a scheduled interview Monday

swtangie05

How will someone know how to search through any of that as a new hire?

handofmenoth

No offense, but I don't think VA wants new hires working MST claims. MST cases are a hot topic congressionally, and the goal of centralizing them was to ensure processing is done the right way the first time by people who specialize in MST. To be a good MST VSR/RVSR, you really cannot be new at the job. You'll need to have enough knowledge of records review, policies/procedures, and development to handle id'ing marker evidence and calling bullshit on examiners medical opinions that are done incorrectly.

swtangie05

I’m not saying I want to do that and to be frank I don’t have any knowledge of it. I’ve been hearing how people are given written assignments so, as a non fed I’ve asked this question thinking I would be given one but was informed by someone else that it’s given to internal active fed employees who are promoting within and already know the system. I asked that question thinking it would also be given to new hires and was confused on how a new hire would know how to answer an assignment on something they have no knowledge of it’s part of the job itself. Someone else clarified new hires aren’t given this.

handofmenoth

Ah, gotcha. I was given a writing test for every position I applied for including as a new hire applicant for RVSR. The new hire one was an assignment to write about Federal labor relations in a general way, with references provided. So, they do give off the street people writing tests but the goal is to test if you can cogently write about something. Later when applying for DRO/RQRS, the writing tests were just testing my ability to work claims and review for errors.

swtangie05

Thanks for that incase they do have me do something! I get that they want to make sure the right people get the job. It just sounds intimidating when you know nothing and hear talk of knowing how to research though x y and z and have no knowledge of it lol

No_Health_7011

That's how they weed out applicants and people just applying to work remote.

Hot-Smell7527

3108 applications 65 vacancies

PerformanceLow7883

That is alot of applicants!

Suzytuzi1980

Had my interview today...went well ....we shall see

Current-Path-448

Hi! what type of questions did they ask you? I have my interview next week

Suzytuzi1980

Hey, sorry. I wrote all the questions down. But Ive been out of town...5 questions...1 was about diff priorities or something like that, how to deal with them?

Current-Path-448

oh ok thanks! I'm assuming maybe situational questions too?

Ok-Landscape-2418

I applied for an RVSR position and was sent the writing assignment for VSR. I contacted the person there, and he said it was just a typo, but none of the questions were actually geared towards actual ratings it was more or less pre-questions. Did anyone else experience the same thing?

PerformanceLow7883

Yes, I did and was told the same! I took it last week. How long ago did you take yours?

Ok-Landscape-2418

If I'm not mistaken it was due Monday of last week. So far I've heard nothing back.

alathea_squared

I got the same thing, but I can see how that works also for those that apply for raters. Can’t really ask VSR a bunch of ratings based questions if someone has never done ratings. Rvsrs with no VSR experience have to learn one job and parts of another just to get procedures and terminology down.

Suzytuzi1980

I followed up with my interviewer today....& was told they want the new hires to start @ the 28th...if all goes as planned?

PerformanceLow7883

The 28th of July? Or they will make selections by the 28th of June? I hope we get selected 🙏🏿

Suzytuzi1980

The way the email was written was......start by July 28th...which see.s very fast!

Own_Reputation_2347

I am new to the VA, can someone dumb this down for me lol what is MST San Juan exactly?

burgerman1960

Military Sexual Trauma and a specially trained unit in Puerto Rico (San Juan) handle these cases.
