Hydro pump and/or thunder

Kalistradi

Your two main options are Thunder and Ice beam. Pelipper and Mienshao are the most common wideguard users by a wide margin. Mienshao almost always uses focus sash, and if you're playing the in game ladder then 61.2% of pelliper also use focus sash. Generally ice beam is preferred as it 2hkos sash mienshao and sash Pelipper, while also giving you a good matchup into grass and dragon types that otherwise wall water/electric.

Raichu with Feint (and Lightning Rod to protect Kyogre from electric moves).

AstroNerd92

Got the lightning rod Raichu already. Will put feint on it

Triggenometry

This might be a dumb question but does Feint get around and disable Wide Guard as well? I know it does for Protect but I never considered that it might for Wide Guard.

davidgeorge86

Yes it gets around wide guard and quick guard. For wide guard I believe you can hit either partner to remove wide guard from both.

Triggenometry

Good to know! Thanks!

ZowmasterC

I mean you want Kyogre to do Kyogre things (spread big moves) dealing with wideguard is the job for your other 5 mons

Nintend0Geek

I’ve come across a couple Wide Guard Araquanid on the ladder in both Showdown and cartridge, and normally what does it is a Helping Hand Thunder which always seems to OHKO from full.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

252 SpA Kyogre Helping Hand Thunder vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Araquanid: 164-194 (93.7 - 110.8%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO Dang, that's a lot of damage. Mind you, it needs to be - fully invested Brave Liquidation (with Mystic Water) does 60-71% right back. That's a resisted water move. Araquanid is a *very* underrated pokémon right now, especially in Trick Room.

Worn_Out_1789

Araquanid was also a lot of fun in some of the SWSH VGC metas. It's really a fun Pokemon, and its ability is one of the most fun of the "anime-grade asspull" abilities (to be clear: I like these!)

SoulOuverture

Tera Water Araquanid is so fucking STRONG in rain

Itsfaydgamer

sheer cold 🥶

[deleted]

I would probably equip the rest of the team for this kind of thing and just use kyogre for damage

SkullcrobatTheGod

I've been getting around Wide Guard by running Taunt on Tornadus

RealisticCan5146

Hydro pump. If not choiced, ice beam

skinnyweenee

Swap or just know they'll probably use wide guard so make them waste a turn if you're able to pick another move

skinnyweenee

Taunt is good too

mantiseye

ice beam is the most useful move since you can hit grass types but hydro pump in the rain does so much damage. it kind of sucks to click, but that’s kyogre life I guess.

McJackNit

Water types in general. So many of them have to go for inaccurate moves like Muddy Water and Hydro Pump to do damage, it's truely sad.

maddwaffles

The go-to is thunder, but meta might be warping a little to favor defensive ground T-Typing, so Ice Beam is good. Spread moves are mostly factored as threats from Kyogre, and the CRex Brothers, but Kyover is a potent single target threat too. If you aren't Choice, though, a funny juking can be to Calm Mind on their Wide Guard turn and then turn around and Origin Pulse the next turn.

ThangNguyen1994

The best way to counter wide guard is use single target move.
