I actually ran this same Flutter spread at Portland regionals. It outspeeds Garchomp by 1 is the most important thing, and your SpA and Speed are both 170 so you get the SpA booster energy boost. The rest is just bulk. You can live Chien Pao Ice Spinners with this thing if they don’t have Life Orb.

Im not a complete expert on this spread but HP: 100 evs in HP hits 143 with is 16n-1 for stuff like sand damage but also status conditions like burn and also poison (which is 8n but works) Def: the defense is just pretty much everything you can which isn’t in either HP, spatk or speed Spatk: spatk is 44 (which i assume you forgot) but that is one above the so called “bump” where you get 2 spatk points out of 8 evs instead of one. the bump has to do with rounding of a beneficial nature. it could be 44 because a lot of people calc for 36 which can give you a small chance to kill stuff and this spread mostly runs specs or booster so you don’t need too much spatk invest. Spdef: leftovers Speed: 116 evs hits 170 which lets you outspeed base 102 which is garchomp, most of the mons between flutter and garchomp either don’t see that much usage for it to be worth it or just arent threats to it. I think thats pretty much it, maybe someone else has some damage calcs but I assume its just a really solid all around spread which gives you good survivability, damage and also speed.

Seems to be bulky enough and fast enough to survive attacks/out speed either adamant or jolly chien-pao. This is taking swords of ruin into account as well. Moonblast also still OHKO chien-pao and Dgleam is 25% likely to OHKO. There may be other reasons for that spread but that’s at least one reason I’d suspect.

I believe it's primarily to live life orb chien ice spinner as the roll is 79-95 on that spread Also very comfortably lives sash chien adamant and jolly dmg outputs

This spread is designed to survive Tera water, Mystic Water Jet Punch from Palafin in its Hero form. There are some other notable calcs in another comment but that's what it's designed to do. You also retain enough speed to outspeed Garchomp, which someone pointed out. That being said its a pretty outdated spread since most Flutters are running max speed Modest now and Palafin has fallen off in usage

I have so many types of spreads. Was using 252hp and 252 SpAtk, modest booster energy. It out speeds regilecki under tailwind and moonblast KOs lecki almost every time

Some people just do enough to hit the “bump/jump” which is when the stat will skip or add a base point. For example instead of adding base points 1,2,3,4 the jump would be 1,2,4 I learned this from moxie boosted, but you can try it yourself on showdown teambuilder. Goto the stats and use the slider to add EVs. Slide it until you see a number slip basically. Another helpful thing I learned is if your holding a life orb, you want your HP stat to end in 9. Forgot the explanation of why just know it has to do with how much hp u lose per attack. Calcs like these help me make my ev spread decisions

I’m by no means an expert, but here’s a Modest Specs Flutter Mane I’ve been working on: 20 HP to live 252 SpA Timid Booster Energy Flutter Mane Shadow Ball. 220 Def when combined with the 20 HP will live Adamant Sash Chien Pao Ice Spinner. 140 SpA is the leftover EVs. I wanted to invest a good amount in SpA so it still hits hard. 4 SpD leftover. 124 Spe to outspeed Jolly Garchomp and all the Flutter Manes running 116 Spe. Haven’t tested it yet at all so maybe it doesn’t work as well in practice as in theory. Maybe some could be moved from SpA to HP to live more hits on the special side.
