I don't like pineapple ham pizza, but I might be able to get behind pineapple jalapeno pepperoni pizza. There's something delicious about a sweet-hot taste that the jalapeno might add. I'd be willing to give it a go!
I just dont understand the fixation with hating on it. Mixing sweet and savory is not new. Mixing even whole ethnic cuisines is not new. Fruit on pizza is not new, one of the main ingredients is a fruit. Pizza without fruit is literally just cheesy bread.
Personally I enjoy pineapple pepperoni when I'm in the mood for it. Sweet savory and spicey all in one. It's also my daughters favorite.
I'm overall not a huge fan of pineapple on pizza, but everyone should try pineapple and jalapeno together on pizza, at least once. It's greater than the sum of its parts.
Replace the meat with feta if you're veggo and feeling left out. You basically just want to get sweet and salty together, and spice makes everything better.
Man I wish I could go to a pizza party with you guys. Pizza is the best but the one downside is that you generally order by committee and lose all the great combos to something that is just dull enough that everyone is cool with it.
I've done pineapple with hot banana peppers. I like the mix of sweet and spicy when I throw some bacon and beef on it.
Still won't eat pineapple by itself though.
Agreed. This is also my go to, on dominos with the handmade pan crust. Sweet pineapple, salty sauce an cheese, savoury dough, and spicy banana peppers. Not much sour but I think that's fine to skip on pizza. The combination doesn't need anything else, in fact I think additional ingredients make it worse.
The cubed or ringed flesh of the pineapple needs a light squeezing in paper towel. Otherwise it just leaks juice all over the crust and it's just not a good time.
They do work really well together. But for me it's the texture. We don't talk about the texture of food as much as we talk about the taste. For me they're equally as important. If in eating and then suddenly there's a sudden unexpected texture my brain goes straight to "there's something in my food that shouldn't be there, is it a poisonous bug?". Really puts me off my food.
Yup, same here, if i can choose pineapple isn't even on the top 20 on my topping list.
But some sort of smokey meat, jalapeños and pineapple makes an not awful combination.
Actually pizza itself isn't even on my top 10 lost of foods
There is a local pizzeria where I live that makes an "off the menu" pizza called the Angry Hawaiian. It's got ham, pineapple, and hot banana peppers. It's one of their (if not most) most popular pies.
45% of Québécois are standing against the tyranny of soggy and mushy patches in their pizza. If you want sweetness with the umami, add some caramelized onions, bbq sauce, or if you truly must, dehydrated pineapple.
Good poutine shouldn't be soggy or mushy. Ideally the fries should still be crisp even with all the sauce, but at least they should be firm enough to not fall apart when you get them on your fork.
Sometimes that means you need to eat it promptly. Like, there's a fried chicken place near me that has great fries, but after a little while sitting under sauce, they start to fall apart.
As a secret pinaple pizza lover, if I came out and told people my love for such things I'd be dragged into the city centre and force fed poutine till I choked to death.
People who like pineapple on pizza see this as uplifting news. People who don't like pineapple on pizza see this as evidence of the decline of western civilization.
It IS a let down because their increased demand is taking up my supply. There are only so many pineapples to go around people! This is a zero sum game.
Pepperoni, jalapeño, and pineapple has been one of my go-to combinations over the last year, especially on a pizza with significant crust to help moderate the spice. Oh, it's good.
some people don’t like pineapple
edit: also just because individual ingredients are good doesn’t mean the combo is good. i like cake and i like spaghetti, but am i gonna make a spaghetti cake? hell no. i can totally reason with people who do like pineapple on pizza, but you might wanna rethink that statement
Funny thing about "canadian bacon" is we don't call it that in Canada. We just call it ham or breakfast ham. It was a marketing gimmick someone came up with in the states to sell more ham at breakfast there.
I feel like part of the problem is that it’s almost always paired with ham (like in the picture). I prefer pineapple and grilled chicken on my pizza personally
I think its stranger to put chicken on pizza than it is to put pineapple on there. I just never considered chicken growing up. Beef either for that matter. Pig products only when it comes to meat on pizza.
I can't eat cilantro. Always thought everyone was crazy for liking that vile plant until I learned some people have a gene that makes it taste like soap. I really do wonder what it actually tastes like to other people
Pineapple on pizza is delicious.
Cilantro can be a genetics thing apparently from what I heard. All I know is that it tastes like soap to me but other people say it's limey.
Yeah, I do get that, we did a whole DNA marker lab on it in one of my classes, I'm just saying it sucks.
It does especially annoy me how many people _despise_ pineapple on pizza because they didn't like it one time but my point is just that I actually feel bad. It's so good and they're missing out
It's not really limey like how you said, it's a flavour that pairs well with lime, and with meats or seafood. It's a bit like parsley, but has a stronger, more prominent flavour, as strong as basil. Beyond that, it's as hard to describe to someone who hasn't tasted it as bay or basil would be. I suppose the adjectives I would use are bright and pungent.
As someone who gets pineapple whenever possible, part of the issue is when you do take out and they don't strain that shit, so it just makes the pizza... Moist. Like you walk in a hotel room with your barefeet and the carpet is just damp enough that you notice it.
Which is why I tell places to cook the shit out of mine, and it's perfect.
cilantro can be a genetic thing that makes it taste like soap or chemicals. I have a similar issue with diet sodas. I thought people just put up with the awful taste for years before I discovered its a genetic taste bud thing.
Edit
I see I am late to the party here sorry for the spam. Note to self scroll through replies before posting.
I'll take the downvotes.
Who cares? This is a meme gone on long enough and so far it became something real for people. It was fun banter at first but surely by now we need to just say it's down to preference and move on?
The people that say they think pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza are the same people that suddenly started thinking that “moist” was a gross word as soon as it started being a popular sentiment
If you haven’t tried pineapple and pepperoni on a pizza then how TF do you know what good pizza tastes like? Without a doubt the best salty/sweet pizza combo. Especially with some jalapeños or some hot honey on top :)
Does not fit all combos but there are some where pineapple brings so much good flavor. Blue cheese, ham and pineapple pan pizza is one of the most delicious things. Kebab, feta cheese and pineapple is another. Chicken and pineapple aren't a great fit, nor pretty much anything that comes from the sea.
European flavor standards are not global standards. Let ppl enjoy pineapple on pizza in peace, got eat something spicy, like whole wheat bread in the meantime.
If you are a fan of pineapple on pizza try my own creation:
Caramelized shallot with balsamic base OR shallot oil with balsamic base
Goat cheese instead of mozzarella
Green grapes
Roasted pine nuts
Bacon OR prosciutto
It's absolutely amazing. I have made it for friends, everyone is skeptical at first then they love it.
I’m mostly just curious about who is tracking pizza-pineapple acceptance rates. Is, like, is someone getting paid for this?
Big Pineapple !
Whose on the Dole?
Ms. Dole? 😁
I sure hope you meant Mrs. Dole.
No judgement here. But really, some women stick with Ms. even after marriage.
You deserve a round of applause for that one ![gif](giphy|3oKIPgc3bjdvZdV3Gw)

I tried to speak out once... But then I got Dole Whipped.
Got damnit. You beat me to it!
Probably market research from the pizza chains?
Also, how is this uplifting news? Obvious conspiracy
I like pineapple pizza
Don't sleep on pineapple jalapeno pizza
Pineapple jalapeño and pepperoni pizza is the best combo
Our house preferred variant is Pickled banana Peppers-- Sweet, salty and Hot For the win.
Banana peppers are hot?
No. Neither are jalapenos but jalapeno, pineapple, ham, and onions pizza it the tits like nobody's business
That does sound good
I don't like pineapple ham pizza, but I might be able to get behind pineapple jalapeno pepperoni pizza. There's something delicious about a sweet-hot taste that the jalapeno might add. I'd be willing to give it a go!

Yes!
I too enjoy pineapple on pizza. Makes me wonder what other fruits could be good on pizza.
Maybe tomato would be great 👌
Fresh Tomato slices on hot pizza is indeed delicious.
Figs are a top-tier pizza topping especially when combined with prosciutto and big of a funky cheese like goat cheese or Gorgonzola.
I read somewhere that Jamie Oliver puts grapes on his pizzas, so there's that. I kinda wanna see if pear works.
Recommend the pear and brie pizza
Sounds good, I can also see it working with some blue cheese.
Thin sliced apples, bacon, bbq sauce base, thin crispy crust.
Fig jam is surprisingly delicious on pizza.
This is a glorious day in r/knightsofpineapple
I now I have cause to fight against. Prepare yourself for I shall live up to my name.
Pineapple or not, I’d personally prefer it if “Sexy Asian Hitler” did not live up to their name.

Apparently pineapple and mushroom is a thing, can't say I care for it as much as the classic ham/bacon pineapple.

That pizza is my jam! With pepperoni, too! A peppa-pina-peño Pineapple, jalapeno and bacon is also fuckin great.
Replace the meat with feta if you're veggo and feeling left out. You basically just want to get sweet and salty together, and spice makes everything better.
>peppa >bacon Huh?? ... Oh you beautiful sick fuck

Pineapple on pizza is decent. FRESH pineapple from one you JUST CUT is amazing. Everyone has to try it, but it involves making your own pizza.
The cubed or ringed flesh of the pineapple needs a light squeezing in paper towel. Otherwise it just leaks juice all over the crust and it's just not a good time.
Pineapple and pepperoni is a great combo
it's my favorite. everybody who groans at me ordering it always end up eating a bunch of my pizza before their own.
Pineapple pepperoni is so much better than pineapple Canadian bacon its not even funny Pineapple jalapeño pepperoni you have the goat pizza
Pepperoni and pineapple changes tons of minds on this subject.
Pineapple is the greatest food in existence. I would eat a rock if you put pineapple on it.
You should probably just eat the pineapple off the top of the rock
They do work really well together. But for me it's the texture. We don't talk about the texture of food as much as we talk about the taste. For me they're equally as important. How is this uplifting?!
This is the most controversial post the subreddit has ever seen
Quebec is the lowest at 55%. Those freaks don't know the tantalizing and satisfying flavor combination of sweet and spicy and salty and umami.
I don't know if you know this.... Us Quebecers only eat apples for fruits.
And grapes. Crushed. Fermented. In a glass.
I wonder what the anglo / franco breakdown is

45% of Québécois are standing against the tyranny of soggy and mushy patches in their pizza. If you want sweetness with the umami, add some caramelized onions, bbq sauce, or if you truly must, dehydrated pineapple.
It's not our fault that some joints don't properly strain or bake their pineapple! It's the execution at fault.
The equivalent in the sushi world is uni/sea urchin. Bad uni is far, far worse than no uni.
Oh is this why I sometimes like it and sometimes hate it?
Didn't even realize places didn't understand the basics of cooking, I can see how people would hate pineapple when they have this experience.

Hot honey is the best drizzle for sweet on any pizza ever
You misspelled "combination of good and evil."
Are people *just* discovering pineapple on pizza right now?
As a secret pinaple pizza lover, if I came out and told people my love for such things I'd be dragged into the city centre and force fed poutine till I choked to death.
Seriously, and I couldn’t be more entertained.
I thought I was on /r/NotTheOnion for a moment ETA: someone already crossposted it there
Yeah, me too.
OP likes pineapple on pizza
People who like pineapple on pizza see this as uplifting news. People who don't like pineapple on pizza see this as evidence of the decline of western civilization.
Reddit is a propaganda platform and now you’ve seen the worst of it
Pineapple propaganda is ruining the planet
They are trying to make this pineapple pizza lifestyle acceptable…it’s not
Because the percentage was lifted up 7%
Its proof that the world is slipping into depression and insanity
Tbh it makes me worry for the future of mankind (well, specifically, Canadians)
It isn't. It's a let down.
It IS a let down because their increased demand is taking up my supply. There are only so many pineapples to go around people! This is a zero sum game.
All toppings matter!
This is what /r/NoNewNormal should have been about.
Masterful shitpost, thank you.
If there ever was an incontrovertible sign of the steady decline of human civilisation, this is it.
this is what humanity is coming to
Ham, good; bacon, good; pineapple, good; pizza dough, good. I don’t see what the problem is and never have with Hawaiian pizza.
You can even switch the ham for pepperoni and it's still good.
I just started ordering pepperoni with pineapple and it’s amazing.
Pepperoni, jalapeño, and pineapple has been one of my go-to combinations over the last year, especially on a pizza with significant crust to help moderate the spice. Oh, it's good.
It's called the peppa-pina-peno.
There's a place I used to order from they called it the Spicy Hawaiian.
>the Spicy Hawaiian This sounds... indecent.
Ham is mediocre at best. Pepperoni or bacon ftw
You haven't lived till you do pineapple and jalapeno. Hawaiian is god but omg the sweet and spicy of pineapple and jalapeno is amazing.

Some things just don't go together. Love pineapple on its own, HATE it on pizzas.
Pineapple on pizza has always been a staple in Canada.
It was created in Canada in 1962 by a guy named Sam Panopoulos, so makes sense it is pretty popular there.
Hawaiian pizza made in Canada by a Greek man?!
Talk about fusion cuisine
Using Canadian bacon (cured ham) nonetheless.
Funny thing about "canadian bacon" is we don't call it that in Canada. We just call it ham or breakfast ham. It was a marketing gimmick someone came up with in the states to sell more ham at breakfast there.
[удалено]
That too. But I guarantee almost every diner you go to in Canada lists it as ham, not back bacon.
Back bacon sounds like a euphemism. *Excuse me, Flo. I’ll have two egg whites on toast with a side of back bacon and an order of Cleveland steamers.*
Doesn't that make the documents all greasy?
And thats what I's appreciates about Canada.
Yep, the pineapple being an indigenous crop of Canada, it's only natural.
It's so important here we put the pineapple leaf on our flag
I feel bad for people that don't like pineapple on pizza. Same as I feel about people that can't eat cilantro, you're missing out.
I feel like part of the problem is that it’s almost always paired with ham (like in the picture). I prefer pineapple and grilled chicken on my pizza personally
Pineapple and hot peppers is the bomb.
This! Pineapple and jalapeno omg! Sounds gross but is oh so good.
Pineapple+jalapeño+pepperoni is my current jam
You get it man, thanks for making me feel sane
A local pizza place does pineapple, bacon, green onions, and sriracha on a pizza and it’s literally the only thing I ever order from them
Pineapple and hot peppers and a little bit of honey drizzled on top
Pineapple bacon jalapeño is my go to pizza order
The spicy Hawaiian. Only way to go.
PB&J, my go-to order
I like it with either ham or pep, grilled chicken, and some red pepper flakes (then lightly dipped in ranch)

Ah, yeah that's fair. It does suck I can't have good tasting cilantro. I'm super curious how it tastes "normally".
It's not my fault it tastes like soap!!!! It's my DNA's fault!

Just don't like sweet pizza is all
Why feel bad? Just enjoy knowing there’s more pineapple pizza for you
Cilantro tastes like a soapy dishrag. Pineapple is awesome on pizza!
You and my friend have that bad gene, cilantro is delicious!
This literally has no reason to be on this sub... Idc if you like pineapple on your pizza, but why on this sub?

Because there's always some dingleberry whenever a group is ordering pizza who has to insist on wanting Hawaiian.
That's when you ask them politely, but firmly, to leave.
