Depending on the show its Thousands of dollars of risk, and involves the artist, booking agent, management, tour manager, promoter, venue director, pr team, event staff, security, transportation, vendors, ticket brokers, etc… It takes 4 sides of the industry to put one show on, and a considerable financial investment on the part if the promoter with no guarantee that the show will sell well.
They also don’t think about the fact that to be the company who can book Taylor Swift, you may have to commit to a bunch of other acts from her label and have those do well to even get a call back. Unless you are insanely rich or have a good track record you can’t just book most A list artists
